What happened next was nothing short of a miracle. Elizabeth took up the challenge of fixing the shameful mess that was my hair. She spent over an hour carefully trimming down the weight and bulk, allowing my natural curls to spring back to life. She painstakingly softened the areas in the back where chunks had been removed by the previous stylist, resolving the mushroom shape that had taken over. Elisabeth is a charming professional who brought my lovely red hair back to life. Not only did she correct the bad cut, she gave me one of the best cuts I've ever had. I left the salon with my self confidence restored. I felt pretty again. Finding a hair stylist is not an easy process. For some reason it seems that Dublin likes to overcharge tons on getting a haircut. There's quite a few places that have deals for men, but alas us ladies get charged more and sometimes incur an extra fee for long hair! My saving grace was IS Organic. Their normal cut and dry comes in at a cool €20, what a refreshing change from the others! The staff were friendly and it was clean inside so I didn't really feel like I was sacrificing much going for a budget cut!

In other words exactly what I want in a hairdressers and for the price, well worthy of five stars. They close for a few weeks over the summer to take holidays which I think is brilliant. Understandably I think the extended closure caused confusion in other reviewers (they are back open now). It's 28 euro for a cut and blowdry with all organic products and a head massage thrown in for good measure. The Hungarian stylist, Julia (I think) is lovely and possibly the gentlest hairdresser I've ever experienced! Closed my eyes at one point and could hardly tell she was doing anything; none of the tugging you endure at some hairdressers. Showed her a photo of what I was looking for and she delivered, didn't feel rushed either. I knew the place is a bit upscale, so upon entering I already had expectations of what my service and the final product was going to be like. The staff was great, I actually had a few people working on me as my stylist attended to other customers at certain stages of my colour and cut. Everyone was friendly and hospitable, but it wasn't over the top. About 2.5 hours later, I had a new do, a fresh colour and was very happy with my service and my results. Go to the till to pay with my gift card and the cashier tells me that their credit card machine has not been working all day and that I'd need to pay for the service in cash. She pointed me to a bank machine so I could take out some cash to pay for the service. I was not only upset but frustrated. You check in with reception when you come in and pay at the same counter. You'd think they'd have a sign up saying that it was cash only due to credit card issues or warn you before your service, as I'm sure I'm was not the only one redeeming a gift card. Walked out 255 euro down, that I was not intending to spend, and still have a gift card for 200 euro. Talk about a great service being ruined in 30 seconds.

A great improvement from the school upstairs…read more Last year, I had a very poor experience at the school. The student was lousy and the supervisor was too busy to supervise properly. I left with more of a 'trim' than a cut, and an uneven one at that. In a mad contrast, Lunatic Fringe was probably the best hairdressing experience I've had in Ireland. At a reasonable price, I had my hair styled exactly as I wanted. No attempt to quicken the job using an electric razor or other such nonsense. Denise came highly recommended and has actually won an award. She was very friendly and not-rushed. Even with my poor instructions, she was able to understand what I wanted - as if I was speaking fluent hair-speak.

I had a consultation one week before my appointment with the director hair colourist, Jade, and she was so helpful, she suggested safe ways to lighten my hair without damaging it with so much bleach to be put on, and she explained what kind of result I should be expecting, I walked into the appointment confident that she'll do a great job! The result was so much better than I expected! My hair has a lovely gradual lightness, mixing different shades of brown that are blended perfectly with my black base. My hair is amazing I got so many compliments and it looks healthy and shiny! To top off this joyful hair transformation day, I got a complimentary hair product that preserves and cares after coloured hair in a generous bottle size!

She was so nice and really managed to get my hair back to something more presentable. I also went in earlier this week to get my hair done for a wedding. I was booked in with Matthew for a blowdry but he ended up suggesting setting instead. The end result was pretty much exactly like the picture I'd shown him. He was so sweet and there was none of the awkward hairdresser chats had in many other places I've been. I'm going back next week before another wedding and looking forward to seeing the results. Defo recommend.
