Just an update that dr Jacobi is still a tremendous Dr and cardiologist and I'm so glad to be in such good hands. Also, Veronica is as amazing as ever and I highly recommend healthy living medical. I appreciate compassionate doctors and I recently discussed bedside manner with a friend who said they would take a rude dr but a spot on one any day over a nice doctor. It's rare to find a medical professional as aware, knowledgable and caring as Dr. Jacobi. Taking a holistic approach, Dr. Jacobi's care included discussion of meditation, which has been shown to be a great practice in helping to maintaining one's overall health. I left the office with my questions answered and feeling cared for, and grateful to leave without an Rx of some kind to deal with the symptoms but not the cause. First I want to say that Dr. Jacobi is very nice and likable. Having said that, I can't say anything else good about our experience. Dr. Jacobi does NOT work out of Huntington Hospital and will refer you if you have any cardiac issues. Per Dr. Jacobi, he is more "into preventative measures and maintenance ". That's great and all, but he is listed as a practicing Cardiologist's that works out of Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. He did explain he does NOT have privileges there during the initial consultation. So, a week after the consult I took my mother in for testing. The staff at that time was very unprofessional and acted like we were there for a spa treatment. WTF? Oh and the dude who did the test- he's a smoker. Asked if his student could participate during the test, and smelled like he just came back from a cigarette break. Gross! It's been two weeks. Still no call from Dr. Jacobi. Basically anything he says at this point I won't believe. So it was a total waste of time and money. Do yourself a solid and avoid this practice if you have any legitimate cardiovascular issues. I will be posting our experience on as many sites as possible. It's totally unprofessional for a doctor who took an oath to do no harm, to take money from a senior citizen who has legit health issues. I'm flipping pissed. Today the word was "oh the test got held up in the system, Dr. Jacobi will call this afternoon after he looks at the results. In the spirit of being fair, I am amending my initial review. Although I am not completely satisfied, I am happy that Dr. Jacobi spoke to my mother this morning and relayed my unhappiness with the way her case/situation was handled. I do believe if you have a relatively healthy heart and want to stay on top of cardiovascular issues, you could use Dr. Jacobi and his practice. I would like to suggest if you seek treatment from Dr. Jacobi, do not wait for a call. Stay on top of his staff if he does not return a call or contact you within a reasonable amount of time. I also do feel the front office may need further training in professionalism and conduct. Lastly, for smokers-especially in a health profession, be aware of your offensive odor and clean up prior to engaging with a patient. I have seen Dr. Jacobi three times, and I can only say great things about him and his office staff. I have gotten excellent care and am hopeful to be able to turn my health around with his help. He spent time with me explaining how to keep my stress levels down. He also gave me great ideas on how to exercise even with two knees that are bone on bone. Thanks to the metabolic test, I was able to get an accurate number for how many calories I needed. 6 weeks later I am 6 pounds down, something I thought was next to near impossible. I set an appt and was really impressed with the friendliness of the front desk staff and the overall office environment. Very kind and helpful staff. He set up some strategies on lowering my cholesterol and improving my overall health. He's very knowledgeable which also provided a lot of confidence I was in good hands. My husband and I are very thankful to have found Dr Jacobi. From the moment I walked through his office door I knew something was different. It wasn't like a typical doctors office. It was more like someone's beautiful living room, upon which I was greeted by two smiling and friendly faces. All of which put me at ease. I was looking for a change in primary care physicians earlier in the year. Like anyone else, I started looking through Yelp for a physician. After coming across Dr. Jacobi's Healthy Living Medical practice. I read the reviews and decided to have my annual physical done by him. During the consultation, I advised Dr. Jacobi I was on several medications for blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes. At the time I weighed around 232 and told him I was tired of taking medications, being overweight and I wanted to improve my health as I had a son on the way. He advised that he had a Healthy Living course that was group based that met 1 time a week for 12 weeks. I did not join the first time it was offered due to scheduling but made sure to sign up the next time it was offered to me. I was at 230 pounds when the course started and I took myself off my medications prior to the course at my own discretion. Each week I learned something new about myself and learned how to apply the 3 core values to my life and that if you falter its not the end of the world. There is always something to learn from when any of the values were not applied when you didn't meet your goal for the week. You also learn later in the course what truly motivates you to get healthy. At the end of the 12-week course, I had lost 24 pounds and my blood pressure and blood sugar levels were at a near normal levels without medication. Dr. Jacobi recommended a follow up visit within a month from the end of the course. He stated this to see if I could stay on course with what I learned or may have fallen off the wagon. At the time of my follow up on October 1st 2018, I lost a total 32 pounds, my blood pressure is normal, my cholesterol is in the normal range and I am now at the pre-diabetic stage without using diabetic medication. My goal weight at the start of the course was 190 pounds. I am now 6 pounds away from my goal weight and by my next visit in 3 months. My goal is to be at 190 pounds or lower by then and hopefully free of any diabetic medication. Since the arrival of my son, my focus is to be healthy and free of medication in order to have a long and healthy life so that I can be there for my son and wife. I came here to get an EKG done the other day. This was part of a comprehensive analysis I'm having done, and this physician's office was recommended to by a friend of mine. I found parking in the structure and it was not too difficult finding a spot. The office was an elevator up to the 4th floor. Once I walked in, I noticed it was a clean and well-organized office. The decor was done in good taste, and it felt so warm and welcoming. The receptionist had me fill out some forms, and I waited for the doctor to see me. Dr. Jacobi is a friendly person. While he did my EKG, we chatted about a few things: med school apps, residency, and his path to where he is now. He gave me good pointers on my own career pursuits. The EKG itself was fast, and fortunately it came out normal. No heart problems for me. I recommend Dr. Jacobi's office for all your family physician and cardiology needs. Wow! Finally, the healthcare system has been restored with HLM. I had a fantastic experience with HLM. We were greeted by a pleasant Medical Assistant. The wait time for my aunt was less than 10 minutes. Dr. Jacobi took his time with my aunt explaining all aspects of her health. He even asked her questions about what she looks forward to doing after Covid. My Aunt left the visit saying, "Dr. Jacobi is a great doctor. I really like him". If you want a doctor who actually cares and spends time with you to game plan your care, then Dr. Jacobi is your man. I'm hesitant to write the deserved rave reviews because I don't want this boutique practice to blow up into something massive. But that's what is bound to happen and justifiably so. Veronica the office manager is great. I have anxiety and panic disorder and told her I was worried about coming in the office for one of my visits during covid, and when I got there she personally hustled me in, got me checked in and put in an exam room right away. Who does that anymore? A very sharp and attentive doctor like Dr. Jacobi and a caring and nice front desk led by Veronica is unbeatable. They always get my prescriptions in right away. If I ever need something tweaked they take care of it within an hour of me calling. Dr. Jacobi and Veronica were really wonderful during my visit and follow up communication. I came in with some concerns and had several tests done. The results showed that I have some hormonal imbalances so I was referred to an endocrinologist but I am giving a positive review because 1. Dr. Jacobi spent a significant amount of time meeting with me and listening to my concerns, unlike other doctors I've seen. 2. Dr. Jacobi isn't purely focused on conventional medicine, but has an awareness of nutrition and some more holistic approaches. He was conscious of my preference for functional medicine even though that is not really his practice. 3. Veronica (receptionist - is that the correct term?) was always helpful on the phone and responsive to emails and calls. They clearly care about the work they do here. Also, my husband came in a few years ago because he was having some chest pain, Dr. Jacobi recommended a mineral supplement and it went away. Dr. J is my hero. We originally agreed to work on getting my fibromyalgia under control. Not only has my fibromyalgia pain decreased tremendously, but he also helped me overcome some personal issues that have been haunting me for over 40 years. Our plan was to work together for an hour a day for 10 days. I was able to obtain great results by the end of our 4th day when he told me we completed everything he wanted to accomplish. Thankfully I was totally at ease with Dr. J immediately, because I bared my soul to him; I told him things that I have only shared with my husband. He laughed at some of my stories (one that no one else had ever considered laughing at, but that helped heal some really old wounds) and he also waited patiently when I shared others that weren't so easy to share. Like anything worth achieving, you must be willing to put in the work. I wasn't sure that I could go through all the soul searching processes. When we parted at the end of Day One he gave me a hug, each time we met or parted after that we hugged. Day Two was my most difficult, but with his help, not only was I able to share but I was able to let go. When we parted we hugged, I felt my anxiety release and was able to breathe easy for the first time in more than 20 years. I'd been waking up with heart palpitations on and off for a couple of years. After explaining my symptoms to my doctor at Kaiser, I was told to stop drinking coffee. I barely had one cup in the morning and knew that this was not the cause of my problem. I changed to a PPO insurance plan and sought out a cardiologist. I chose Dr. Jacobi based on his good reviews and his holistic and common sense approach to healthcare. Dr Jacobi took time to listen to me & explained that I might have Atrial Fibrillation (AFIB). He set me up with a home heart monitor to validate his concerns. He was right, I do have AFIB. He also sent me to a neurologist for a sleep study and I found out that I also have severe sleep apnea. I'm so glad that I left Kaiser and found Dr. Jacobi. I could have had a stroke or a heart attack if these conditions continued to be left untreated. I signed up for Dr. Jacobi's healthy living class. We were given real tools to permanently manage weight and stress. The class was fun, I learned a lot & lost weight. In early December, I had an episode with my heart beating out of my chest and I went to Garfield Medical in Monterey Park (going to give THEM a horrible review after I write this). Long story short, they diagnosed me as having Atrial Fibrillation with Rapid Ventricular Response. I asked how long i'd have to be on medication (which btw were very strong and reading into them, were meant for people recovering from heart attacks) and they said I'd be on them for life. My step dad is a dentist and he told me to ask if Ablation therapy would work for me. The "Cardiologist" said no and would not go into detail as to why. Also when I was diagnosed, the words that came out of her mouth were "I glanced over at your ekg results" um excuse me? can you maybe do more than glance? So that brings me the point of this review. I needed a 2nd opinion but I had to wait until my insurance kicked in on the first of this month. I made an appointment for this morning and I had THE BEST experience. First of all, walking in, the office is beautiful. Looks like it was recently remodeled and it smelled very nice. The front office was very nice and welcoming and Dr. Jacobi was right on time. He took me back and I explained the nightmare I had gone through at Garfield Medical. He asked for my health history, looked over at my results from the previous EKG and hooked me up on his own monitor. The results were that my heart was back in normal rhythm. He then walked me into another room and really laid out what was going on not only in his results but in the previous results as well. He put my mind at ease and recommended that I come off all medication, gradually. The way he took the time to explain everything and putting it into words I can understand and metaphors I can relate to, helped me really learn about my heart and how it functions. I would definitely recommend Dr. Jacobi. He will not only be my cardiologist from now on, but I will also see him as my primary care doctor. read more

There are not enough great things to say about Dr. Jacobi and his wonderful staff. I was in a situation where I was given a diagnosis from the ER and had to see a Cardiologist immediately. As a new patient I expected this to be impossible, but thankfully my primary physician recommended me to Dr. Jacobi and miraculously they were able to fit me in that same day. I met Veronica and Whitney at the front desk and they have continued to be extremely helpful for each visit and need. Dr. Jacobi not only put me at ease right away, but he stayed available for me with quick follow ups and was always very accommodating. As if that weren't enough Dr. Jacobi also runs a healthy living 12 week course that I signed up for and through this course I was able to learn tools that I hope to continue for the rest of my life. They have changed me for the better, made me put my health as more of a priority, and helped me see the benefits of being an all around healthier person. I enjoyed his course, I appreciate all of his efforts to help me and the other patients, and can clearly see how his patients are more to him than just appointments during his day. He knows what he is doing and he truly cares. I'm thankful he isn't one of those doctors that just throws pills at you and sends you away after you've emptied your pocket.
