I've been experiencing lower back pain during my pregnancy and postpartum. I was hoping the pain would go away with time, but I was wrong! Updating with my experience during/after my second pregnancy. This time I had pelvic pain at the beginning of the third trimester that made it hard to walk, especially after getting up from bed in the morning and from sitting. I made an appointment with Dr. Tanya when it was clear the pain wasn't going away and was only getting worse as the baby got bigger. She knew what the issue was right away and gave me a set of exercises and tips that significantly lessened the pain and helped me survive that last trimester. After delivery, I was unsurprisingly diagnosed with diastasis recti again and this time, I landed in the severe territory. I was resigned to the high possibility of needing surgery, but under Dr. Tanya's care and guidance, I managed to lessen the gap significantly to about 2 finger width. I am still healing and working on the depth of the gap, but the improvement so far (just 4 months postpartum) has really exceeded my expectations. I truly believe it's because of Dr. Tanya's care and all the things she taught me after my first pregnancy on maintaining a strong core that made this improvement possible. Finally, the online system makes it easy to make appointments or join the wait list for an earlier spot if anyone cancels. The superbills Dr. Tanya provides are also very helpful in submitting claims to insurance (counting towards my out-of-network deductible and getting reimbursements after that has been met). I cannot thank Dr. Tanya enough and highly encourage anyone with pelvic floor and other related postpartum conditions to go see her because ladies, we don't have to just "live with" some of these issues! read more

I don't use this word very often, but Dr. Jess Fu is MAGICAL! I was in a great deal of pain and discomfort in my 3rd trimester due to symphysis pubis dysfunction.  The middle of my pubic bone would radiate with a great deal of fiery pain especially when turning to the side, getting up, or just walking around.  Within 1 session at week 35, my pelvic pain dramatically reduced and my mobility and posture  immediately improved.  I continued to see her and I move and feel better at week 37 than I did compared to week 32...and my baby is in the 85th percentile in weight.  Another bonus is Jess has a very lovely personality. She is very enthusiastic, passionate, and knowledgeable.  She is motivating and genuinely cares about her patients. I had a difficult labor and suffered from stress incontinence for months postpartum before I discovered pelvic floor physical therapy was a thing and met Tanya. She is warm, funny, empathetic and super knowledgeable in the workings of the pelvic floor and core. Seriously, I feel like I learned so much from her! Tanya really helped me with my strength and coordination and working with her in person was so so helpful for understanding exactly how to engage the correct muscles. After working with her for a several months, my condition improved - hooray! Fast forward a couple years and I realized I was leaking again and went back for some follow up sessions. I got back on track in two sessions and am again able to jump around and cough without fear! So my two takeaways are 1) pelvic floor fitness requires ongoing commitment (like all exercise, unfortunately) and 2) Tanya is amazing! A couple other notes - I find her instagram account (thehealthypelvis) has lots of great content and even my non-local friends who are not patients of hers follow her and find her helpful. ***COVID review*** I reached out to Tanya during pregnancy, after doing some research of my own and realizing that pelvic floor therapy was standard of care in other countries. While it isn't as prominent in the US, I didn't want to let that be a factor in caring for my own health AND I wanted to be proactive (prepartum) rather than reactive (postpartum). Can't be happier I did! Even though we were in the lockdown, Dr Goodrich agreed to meet with me through video call, at a very friendly cost, to help me prepare for the delivery of my son. She set me up with exercises and visualizations that made it really easy! The most important is that going into the hospital, I felt prepared, confident, AND all of this effort turned out to be incredibly helpful and relevant. Better than my opinion is the feedback from all of the knowledgeable nurse and doctor at the hospital, and which was overwhelmingly positive. I felt like I aced a test and it boosted my confidence further! At this point I have my son, and Dr Goodrich meets at her office. I felt very comfortable with the sanitary measures she has in place in Belmont, even though I have a newborn at home and am very worried. There are defined spaces to put your shoes off, slip into provided clean grip socks, and to place your purse. Her postpartum feedback was very useful and, if you are like me wanting to go back into working out but not before your body is ready for it, you will enjoy a fun and candid set of A+ to F grades along with exactly what you need to do to get back on track! Overall seeing Dr Goodrich has helped me a lot with peace of mind for areas that seem to be less frequently addressed pre / postpartum but should be! The Yelp reviews do not lie. Tanya is incredible. I was reluctant to visit a pelvic floor specialist because it seemed like an unnecessary luxury, but I was mistaken. For me, seeing Tanya was a necessity. I credit her for eliminating my pelvic pain during pregnancy and helping me quickly heal postpartum. I had a complicated c-section and could barely walk when I went to see Tanya several weeks later. She physically worked out my tight muscles and guided me on how to reengage my core. I diligently performed the exercises she assigned me and was walking normally within days. She gave me different exercises after each session tailored to my strength, and I progressed significantly after each session. At my 8-week postpartum appointment, my OB-GYN told me that I had healed 95% better than a typical c-section patient and that I had exceeded any expectation she had given the trauma to my body during and after my c-section. Are you pregnant? Are you post-partum? Do you just have general pelvic pain and or lower back pain? Tanya is a Godsend. Literally, amazing. I was seven months pregnant and suffering from pain in my glute for several weeks. Normally, I rather use my in-network providers, but with pregnancy and babies, you spend money. However, her rates are actually quite affordable compared to out-of-network rates you often experience. Anyway, after seeing Tanya for only one session my pain changed completely. I felt like a new person. She informed me that pregnant women shouldn't "get used to pain," and pregnant women shouldn't waddle. These are common misconceptions pregnant women accept when really, they shouldn't. I had no idea. I saw Tanya for about an hour. She massaged, she did cupping, she did exercises, she watched my form, she showed me rolling exercises and filmed me in all my glory so I could repeat them at home. She really got into the pain points and diagnosed the condition with ease. She taught me how to walk, told me what to avoid, told me how to get up from laying down, and more. After just ONE SESSION I felt like a new person. I'm halfway through my 8th month of baby-building and my lower back pain and pelvic pain is mostly absent. Tanya recommended I see her for one follow-up which was half the cost and quite affordable and then graduated me until after I deliver. She doesn't recommend unnecessary appointments and is highly realistic. I've rarely experienced such a life-changing provider. She's worth your time and worth the money. You can also send her super bill to your insurance for reimbursement depending on your plan. I highly recommend seeing Tanya even though she is out-of-network. She is worth it. No pregnant woman should be living in pain. It's not NORMAL. I can't say enough good things about Tanya. I was in a lot of discomfort after the birth of my twins and a long hospital stay that left me with diastasis recti and a weak core. I went from not being able to feel my abs to exercising regularly in about 6 months. Tanya was so encouraging and with every visit gave me personalized exercises to work on my problem areas. She knows her stuff and helps you focus on proper form throughout the body so your muscles can heal and develop. As with any physical therapy, most of the work is up to you and how diligently you stick to the exercise regimen (my favorite time is in the evening while watching Netflix!). I am so happy to have found Jess after I started having so serious lower back pain during my third trimester. Jess is so very caring, patient and great in what she does. She taught me a number of tricks and exercises that reduced my pain level while getting in and out of bed. Later on she also taught me how to correctly oft and hold a baby, and some good practices during delivery. By following her instructions and doing breathing and massaging exercises at home, I was able to deliver my baby boy (first one!) yesterday with just 1 hour of pushing and almost no tearing! Tanya is wonderful! Even if you feel like you're not really experiencing any major pregnancy related "injuries" you deserve to get some care and guidance from a physical therapist like Tanya! Pregnancy and giving birth is a major trauma for a woman's body. Tanya helped me fix my walking posture and hip discomfort prior to giving birth and helped me mentally connect to my pelvic floor muscles - that made it so much easier for me to rebuild and strengthen those connections after birth. Post-birth she was a godsend in giving me small, easy exercises that I could do daily to rehab my pelvic floor - she was exactly the coach I needed to make a successful physical recovery after birth (and completely necessary considering OBGYNs do nothing to help you physically recover other than make sure you don't have any life-threatening issues). Tanya is out of this world amazing. After having two very large babies, I was having issues exercising, sneezing, coughing etc. without peeing a little. It was SUPER annoying and I was afraid it was just going to get worse as I aged. Okay. First off, why do we spend hours and dollars on treating a sprained ankle, but not on treating a woman's body after giving birth?? How do we as a society accept that women who have given birth should be 'careful when they sneeze or laugh'? It's unacceptable. And unnecessary. I gave birth to twin boys four years ago (in Week 40) - and my diastasis recti and weak stomach muscles ensured I used my back and shoulder muscles to lift, rather than my core. For the past four years I've had constant pain - from hips, to pelvis bone, to neck to back to shooting pains down my left leg. And I was just "sucking it up" and getting on with survival, because #twins. Then a friend referred me to Tanya and I was sceptical...I mean, a PT that specialises in the pelvis? Well, after one session I was a converted / changed / enlightened woman! Whoa! Tanya may be small, but her hands are pure magic. She finds knots, problem spots and pain points like they are magnets to her fingers and then she works on them until they're gone. And aside from her magic hands she uses her magic elbows. This review is long overdue. My daughter (10 years old) has been working with Sonia at Healthy Pelvis for pediatric pelvic physical therapy for constipation and leakage. Physical therapy with Sonia has been so incredibly helpful for my daughter, and it has helped with her understanding, self care and some relief immediately and continues. I can't recommend her enough for any pediatric pelvic issues. She was super helpful at explaining to my daughter how to not hold urine and how to manage some issues that my daughter has been having since she was two years old. She is no longer scared to play at recess or do the activities she loves because she now understands how to manage when and how she needs to go to the bathroom. It is seriously improved the quality of her life. I never realize that my child may actually need to learn/re-learn how to have a bowel movement after going through years of constipation. Do not think that pelvic issues and therapy are just for young mothers! I am a senior and Tanya has helped me with my pelvic pain. She is professional and knowledgeable. I know if I had gone to a doctor about this I would have been subjected to X-rays, scans, with a diagnosis of arthritis and prescribed medicines. While that might be advised for some pain issues it was not indicated in my case. I trust her evaluation and treatment plan. Tanya is a delight to work with and really delivers results! She was recommended by my doctor when I had an abdominal split after my first pregnancy four years ago. I remember how worried I was that my stomach would never get back to normal. My obgyn referred me to Tanya about 6 weeks after delivering my son. It was a tough pregnancy and delivery. Half of my right leg was numb for two months post-birth, so I had lost a lot of muscle and developed knee pain. I also had stomach muscle separation and pelvis/hip issues. Tanya was incredible.
