Quality Physical therapy.... Michael is the cream of the crop. I've had a neck issue for darn near 20 years. I've had PT from too many places to count that I'd never return too. But this place and Michael I'd walk on fire to get to on time. Caring and helpful. Not your run of the mill therapy. Michael is super knowledgeable. He works with my issues and adjusts because I have stenosis and carpal tunnel and sometimes the work to stabilize my neck will exacerbate the carpal tunnel. He's flexible and supportive with both issues. Everyone is always wearing a mask and there is no tolerance for unmasked mouth breathers. I appreciate that. They have high quality air filters and always do temperature checks and hand sanitizer is readily available in many locations. They are keeping my pain in check until I can get to neurologist and orthopedic surgeon. read more

My doctor prescribed me a few weeks of physical therapy for an impinged left shoulder. I picked BaySport PT for its prime location (great neighborhood, large parking lot, close to shopping center) and proximity to home, and was not disappointed by the great treatment I received there. From the get-go, the staff was warm and friendly and prioritized my recovery. I ended up working with my physical therapist Mike for over three months, and looked forward to my visits every time because of how well I was treated. The aides were professional, kind, and attentive. The front desk staff was a delight to work with. I appreciated having my exercises demonstrated, printed, and emailed, and was provided with all the necessary equipment and knowledge to do them at home. Limped in with re-occurring pain in multiple areas of my body, and after working with Therapist Mike who helped me understand my body and its issues, I made the decision to commit to what it takes to get better. I've been going here for a few months. Mike has been great with my treatment. Gio ALWAYS gives me VIP service; ice, stim, pillow & blanket. I hurt my rotator cuff working out, no tear or anything luckily, but it was not getting better after 2 months of waiting. I went to Michael at BaySport and quickly my shoulder started to improve. As I regained strength, I was able to get back into my workout routines. The best part was that Michael and his understudies were very motivating and helpful. They also would send me home with bands and exercise programs even after I had "graduated" and was back to my usual self. I am suffering from all kinds of cervical spine issues including stenosis and disc bulges that cause a ton of pain, loss of strength, and numbness in my hand. I am going through medical treatment but using BaySport PT to help with pain relief and long term treatment and rehab. I had a nagging pain in my shoulder for many months which I thought would eventually go away, but it never did. I went to a joint specialist and he (too quickly in my opinion) said that I needed surgery to repair the rotator cuff in my shoulder. Well I wasn't having any of that and asked for a prescription for physical therapy. I discovered Bay Sport purely by luck since none of the physical therapists that are closer to my home had professional websites, or they seemed more like glorified spas. I got lucky again when Carol at Bay Sport was assigned as my PT. In 5 sessions she helped eliminate 90% of the pain, and I expect that if I continue the exercise she gave me, I'll be completely pain free. Carol has a ton of experience, asked a lot of questions, and explained what she thought was wrong with my shoulder, as well as the therapy she would give me, which included friction to my muscle, and several exercise that I can do at home. I have nothing but great things to say about Baysport. I came here because i had lower back pain that was killing me, and i had to do something. I went to a chiropractor and although I thought they were a very professional company, the cracking didnt do much for me. I had Elsie and she is always so nice and does a great job analyzing my muscles, etc. I get a great stretch and i always feel better when i leave. The are very accomadating as well. I have missed 2 appointments that were totally my fault for missing them, and they didnt make a huge deal about it. Dont get the wrong idea, I dont think its ok to miss an appointment, but sometimes things happen and they were very down to earth about it. I will choose baysport for any body issues i have in the future. They have done me right! read more

I am new to physical therapy as I am a strong believer in working through the pain but since i have all this medical money I have to use or lose; I decided to give some PT a try. I have drank the kool-aid. Elsie Lim is fantastic. She did a very thorough exam of my shoulder and elbow and after a single session, I was amazingly a lot better. Elsie takes the time to really explain what she is doing and how she is manipulating your joints, ligaments or muscles. Her detailed explanations really helped me understand the bio-mechanics of what was going on and appreciated all the information. I did follow a lot of her recommended exercises so you probably get out of it what you put into it. I have since gone back for another session just to increase my range of motion and she was very helpful. I would highly, highly recommend her. I guess now I don't have to play through the pain anymore... now I won't have any excuse for my performance on the court. read more

I underwent surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome a year ago with less than perfect results, a lot of issues to solve and work to do to get my poor body to a happy place again one day. After a few unsuccessful PT sessions at Stanford, my surgeon recommend Gina at BaySport. What a breath of fresh air! Gina is very knowledgable and kind. She genuinely cares about the health of her patients. My condition is unstable, it progresses in various ways and I get discouraged, frustrated and sad. Some days I need some tough love, some days I need a shoulder to cry. Regardless, she is there to remind me not to give up. The mix of hands-on and exercise protocol she offers is invaluable. She emphasizes the correct posture and her little adjustments make a huge difference; i find myself working muscles i haven't used in years. I went to the doctor to see what happened to my arm, I had injured it somehow and couldn't use it and was in awful pain. The doctor said I had some torn tendons and I should see a physical therapist before considering the worst. I came to BaySport thinking they were the best plus I'm a member at Bay Club. When I got there I immediately wanted to leave, the office manager made me feel so uncomfortable, she asked if I was on Obama care? She said I had the letter "K" in my policy number and she said that was associated with Obama care and they don't take that kind of insurance. I knew I should have not come back, but I was desperate, in so much pain, I needed help. Moving forward she said they don't take my insurance which is a PPO by the way blue shield/blue cross, but okay, and that I had to pay cash every time I came. Fine. Finally the kicker here....The last time I went, I called when I got home, and canceled all my future appointments and told myself I will never come back. I was there for golfers elbow and the physical therapist had me doing posture exercises standing on a wall with a ball on my back in pain with my arm and indicates to me that I have a very bad posture and that I need to eat right and take care of my body. I was so offended and pissed I cried when I got in my car. How rude and hurtful and most of all waste of my cash and time. Save your time and money and go across the street. I'm using my arm again and getting back on track with Select Physical Therapy. No thanks to BaySport. read more

When I recently hurt my back I had recommendations from all my friends for various forms of treatment but I chose to return to BaySport because my previous experiences with them had been so positive. And this time as well, I was not disappointed. BaySport is a very professional organization that manages to maintain its friendly atmosphere and excellent treatment of clients. Having had the misfortune of having a car accident- I needed physical therapy. I was hurting so much physically and emotionally I did not even want to make phone calls or reseach online. I could write a dissertation about the quality therapy at BaySport. But to keep things short, I'll just summarize: I tore a muscle in my calf and saw Natalie for physical therapy. - Everyone and especially Natalie was extremely attentive to me during my care and also thoughtful and nice. (A positive and welcoming attitude is always helpful when one is dealing with an injury and maybe feeling disheartened.) - Natalie has an amazing grasp on the body and selected exercises to strengthen my calf and also with my dominant sport of martial arts in mind. She asked me to show her some of the footwork I do so that she could help tailor the exercises. She also gave me some fantastic warmups to do before class. - Exercises for the week were given to me in printed instruction sheet and also emailed. - Natalie encouraged me to email or call if I had any problems or questions, even after I stopped my treatment. She called to follow up a month after treatment, just to check in. Really appreciated. - I felt all the therapists and assistants had a high degree of competency. They all seem very trustworthy. - When I completed my therapy, everyone congratulated me and I got a tshirt. The staff at BaySport is very professional and caring and very talented. Elsie Lim has tremendous experience and skill. She has great insight for diagnosing and treating problems. Her strong, deep tissue therapeutic massage is extremely helpful. She is not afraid to use appropriate physical pressure when helpful and she always checks in with you to see how you are doing. She is patient, kind and friendly. The staff assisting the therapists are also terrific. Julie, Bria and Kalvin are so skillful with ultrasound, traction and other treatments. I injured my knee while surfing. Sure enough the MRI showed a meniscus tear. Doc went in arthroscopic surgery smoothed things out. A week later I started my PT with Michael Marcello DPT of Bay Sport in Redwood Shores. Now twelve weeks later I successfully competed in a squash tournament and I am back to my weekly soccer games. I attended Bay Sport on two separate occasions. The first time was great. I met Courtney, who assisted Elsie with everything. The only thing Courtney is missing is PT behind her name because she is so knowledgeable. Elsie was okay, but at times she was a little uptight about people being themselves and having fun. At times I thought about leaving, but everyone else was great. Elizabeth has a great smile and seems to have all of the answers you need and greets with a smile, even if she may be having a bad day....Bria is soooo cheerful and keeps you laughing....but no one tops my best friend Courtney. She has been more than a PT assistant during my pain. Most people like to go somewhere where they can relax, laugh and smile a little bit and be treated with respect when they are in pain. If the environment is dull and uptight, it makes it that much more dreadful of a place to be. This has been my experience this 2nd time. My surgeon was disappointed with my progress and the progress report from Elsie did not reflect truthfulness. I was a lot further along than she made it seem and she requested 18 more visits on top of the 12 already given! For carpal tunnel surgery,,who does that???? No transition to home therapy in 12 visits, but wants 18 more! All about $$$$$. I was very disappointed. I am seeing much more progress with the new PT program and I may be able to get back to work THIS year...lol ! Other than the mentioned physical therapist, Bay Sport would have gotten 5 stars from me. Totally different environment when she is around. read more

I recently went to Baysport for some plantar fasciitis problems that I was having. I have seen Elsie Lim at Baysport for more than 20 years for a variety of physical therapy needs including recovery from ankle tendon surgery; lateral epicondylitis; neck problems; rotator cuff injury; and high tibial osteotomies on both of my knees. Despite my health insurance not providing full reimbursement, there isn't any place I'd go if i wanted to get better with the best chance of maximum functionality. Elsie is a good listener and communicator. She takes the time to thoroughly explain the recovery process every time I show up with a new problem. I have had surgeons from SOAR and PAMF who obviously held Elsie in high regard and trusted her to assist me in my recoveries from surgery. She's the best. read more

My husband and I have both had sport-related injuries throughout the last 10 years (Skiing, mountain biking, etc.) and we have relied on BaySport for Physical Therapy to get us back to 100%. Most recently, I broke my ankle and have been working with Elsie Lim, who is incredibly knowledgeable. She has helped me make fast progress from lots of pain and low mobility and strength, to back on my road bike, hiking, and looking forward to mountain biking and skiing. BaySport - Redwood City, is one of the best Physical Therapy Facilities ever! Not only are they conveniently located next to the Pacific Athletic Club, they have a very clean and organized facility with well-trained staff. Due to an unhealed sprained ankle and an unexpected injury (torn hamstring) I had to stop training for my first full marathon for 3 weeks. My doctor recommended I see a Physical Therapist to get the treatment needed to start my rehabilitation. Another PT location actually referred me to BaySport, as they couldn't fit me in and did not accept my insurance. After speaking with Elizabeth (front desk), she made me feel comfortable with the experience of their Therapist(s) and I was able to be seen that very same night. Carol Triest was my Therapist and she was awesome! Carol really understands sport related injuries, listens to you, and always makes you feel comfortable and special. My appointments were with her on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and because I was one of her last patients, she always took her time with me and never made me feel rushed. When she was swamped with numerous patients, I worked with her Assistant (Matt), who was great, and Tasheena took good care of my billing and scheduling needs. Together, they make a terrific team! I never felt rushed or less important than someone else. Carol took the time to teach me strengthening exercises and even sent me home with copies of the exercises I needed to do daily at home. With BaySport and Carol's help I was able to get out on the roads running again within one month of my injury, and I am happy to say that I'm back on schedule to complete my first Marathon on the 23rd of next month (healed and feeling strong)! First class, not only in diagnosis and treatment, but in service and support. I hurt my finger joint playing tennis, and called Bay Sport, but their appt schedule was jampacked for the next week. However, Elizabeth at the front desk understood my urgency and agreed to fit me in immediately. Hank the PT examined my finger and completely understood the problem, and fully explained my diagnosis and prognosis to me. Finger was not broken, only sprained and he told me how to take care of it. Thanks to him, I did not have to spend time and money seeing a doctor. I've been to BaySport before for PT following an achilles tendon tear, and they were excellent.
