So happy I found this place, ever since I visited, I been treated with LOVE. From the moment you see the front the desk to the moment you see the doctor. They treat you more than just a patient. Dr. La Puma always makes fun out of every appointment. Keep it real and honest with you as well. I decided to give this place a try despite all the negative reviews and to me it was all BULLSHIT . I am a big reviewer, and I believe that if there was an issue, the office would do its job to fix it. The Nurses/ Girls that work the front do an amazing job from calling you to remind of you appointments to making you laugh every-time you visit. Love the place. Currently working on my foot problem. Someone else wrote a review bout how Healthy Step was billing them illegally and the EXACT same thing happened to me. I saw them nearly a year ago but keep getting more and more bills for the procedure I had. They informed me at the time that they were in-network but moved out of network and never told me. I rate my experience with 5 stars, because there is no option to give more! Dr Lapuma was very professional, took his time to explain my pain, why I'm experiencing it and treated me the way that I had a fast and long lasting relief. Further more, he cautioned me how I can prevent it to occur again. I'm very grateful to treat me as a "whole" and not just the symptoms. The staff was fun and easy going! Dr. La Puma is so warm, caring, and kind. I fractured/torn my left ankle around 2 years ago and I've been going to him ever since. I saw their ad on the train like 50 million times in the summer of 2008. I had a foot problem that prevented me from wearing open toe shoes because I was embarrassed. So I checked out the website and liked it! I liked the results I saw and I liked the easy navigation of the site. So I decided to call and make an appointment. They offer free consultations which is a great thing! So I went in for my consultation, I didn't have to wait long to see the doctor. Ex rays and photos of my foot were taken (no charge to me) and I was given the run down of my procedure. It was very quick and straight to the point. The doctor was good about answering my questions and giving me all needed information about my procedure. The deductible was $200, which I was ok with but my mother wasn't (but she wasn't paying for it). So she advised me to go through my insurance because I probably could avoid paying $200. This was a lie, but being the good daughter I was, I listened to her and didn't schedule my surgery at Downtown Podiatry. So the following Spring (09) I decided to listen to my mother and go the insurance route. I scheduled an appointment with a podiatrist in State College near my school. This cost me $35 for him to tell me exactly what I already knew. Alright so this doctor also told me that I would have to go to my regular doctor to be cleared for this and that. Ok I didn't do that because I would have had to send $20. I would have also had to go to the hospital where I would be having the procedure two times before the actual procedure. I would have also had to go back to the podiatrist several times for check-ups and what not. TOOOO MUCH WORK! This background information is necessary to complete my review so bare with me. So I was going to Brazil in the spring/summer of 09, hence the reason why I wanted to have the surgery. When I got back from Brasil, I decided I was going back to Downtown Podiatry. I had another free consultation and scheduled my surgery. I went in for my surgery not realizing the severity of it. I was coming all the way from South Jersey (outside of Philly), by myself. The staff is so nice and friendly there and they also offer you car service. I just took the car service to 34th st to catch my train back to Philly. I didn't feel a thing during surgery. When I woke up, I was asked if I was hungry! lol. They ordered me food from Andrew's Cafe across the street (see review...REALLY good turkey burgers) for no extra charge. I had a cute boot too. It was bug, ugly, and blue like they usually are...it was small and black and not noticeable. I had to go back almost every week until I went back to school. After the amnesia wore off the next morning was HELL! I thought I was going to die. The staff was excellent though. I received regular check-in calls throughout the next couple of days. I paid the $200 in full but they also have payment plans and are very flexible with the payments! My insurance (United Health Care) covered whatever other cost there were. I do recommend buying a wax bath...not sure if that's what it's called but it helps with the healing process. They use it at DTP (Downtown Podiatry). Almost a year later...my foot looks great! I wear nothing BUT open toe shoes (it's summer) and you can barely tell I had surgery. I HIGHLY recommend DTP because it's no frills, straight to the point, no hidden charges or fees, GREAT friendly staff, clean place, and GREAT results. This was the best $200 I ever spent! If I had to do it all over again, I would do it the same way! read more

I injured my ankle and I was so much in pain that I couldn't even walk... Luckily I have found Dr.La Puma who healed it in just three weeks! He treated my ankle with laser therapy which literally did a miracle: After just 4 sessions my pain was gone. Dr.La Puma is extremely kind and professional and so is his staff; the office is nice and clean ( very close to the Fulton Subway station). Dr. V is amazing! Super friendly and attentive. I've been going to him for years and can honestly say he has always been there for me with any foot problem I have had. He has always responded to my questions quickly and with as much information as possible. Even when I was on vacation and injured my foot, I was able to contact him and get the medical advice I needed in order to treat my infection. I am very picky when it comes to my feet and do not trust many as I had an serious surgery on my left foot. Dr. V is the best and I trust him with anything. Honest, reliable, courteous and quick. Excellent visit today with Dr. Debello. Dr. Debello was very patient and thorough and took the time to answer all of my questions about my condition making sure that I understood what it was and how to handle it going forward. He did not make me feel rushed and did not try to upsell me on any unnecessary treatments or procedures. I imagine that this is the overall culture of the business seeing as the receptionists and other staff were very friendly, courteous and accommodating as well. What's the trifecta at a Medical Office? They see you quickly, then talk to you for as long as it takes. They don't try to sell you anything you don't want, or schedule you for a surgery you don't need. And it doesn't cost a fortune. (Or, perhaps, NOTHING.) That's what happened at Downtown Podiatry. I went in there with my defenses up, after I responded to their ad offering a free consultation. I wanted to find out if I needed surgery for my bunion, or if I should just leave it alone. And so I expected that the free consultation meant it would be a sketchy place and they'd instantly hit me up for other charges. Wonder of wonders: the staff were efficient, and the Doctor was nice, knowledgeable and prompt. He told me I didn't need surgery. And "free consultation" really meant "free consultation". If you have any problems with your feet Downtown Podiatry will solve them. I've seen their advertisements for years with the before and after pictures. I was skeptical because my feet were in bad condition I needed work done to both feet, I had the usual suspects (bunions, hammers,). After a successful surgery the staff helped tremendously, they provided a car service to get me home safe and also ordered me something to eat (because I was starving!) It's a really pleasant atmosphere. They don't pressure you into needing surgery or try to push you into purchasing unnecessary products. If your looking into getting work done on your feet and your search has brought you here just do it. I find myself staring at my feet often now. I still can't believe how great my foot looks. I had my right foot worked on last year and now I've had my left foot worked on. Also I have no scarring at all. I can't wait to see the results. Again, "I can't believe how great my foot looks!" Initially I LOVED Healthy Step, until I found out they were ILLEGALLY billing me. From the jump I thought there was something sketchy about the admin side. They always changed my copays and gave me different reasonings, said I didn't have to pay, then charged double, etc. I haven't been in months due to the pandemic and received a phone call from the office asking me to pay a bill that they say they mailed to me but I never received. She said she would email it to me and never did. I receive a text from the office a few days later telling me I need to pay this bill that day or the next, and I asked her to resend it because I still never got it. I get an email of a bill from a collections agency saying I owe them $600 when I was told before that my insurance covered 100% of treatment. I had several "$840, $400, $250 procedures" and large payments left over from those. I asked for documentation of what each treatment was and was met with the response of "the procedures get billed always a higher amount than expected, we bill by the guidance of the state". They said I was receiving it since I "rendered treatment" to which I responded saying I was quarantining but would make an appointment if it meant I could avoid the large bill and then they said it has nothing to do with whether or not I'm being treated. Then she says she's willing to lower the bill due to my circumstances (pandemic, unemployment, you know). I call my insurance and they inform me that healthy step is moving out of network (I was never informed), and that what they were trying to do (bill me for procedures done while they were in network) is ILLEGAL. Healthy Step is lucky they don't have a lawsuit on their hands, and I wish I would have trusted my initial instinct that something sketchy was going on with their admin. Find a different podiatrist if you don't want to lose your money. read more

My 18 month old stepped on broken glass in the playground which resulted in running to the ER stitches, which were excellent but the podiatrist had no pediatric experience and did a poor bandage/wrapping job. I called around and the receptionist at Healthy Step was very understanding about squeezing me in last minute. The podiatrist was very competent and efficient and did a beautiful job re-wrapping my son's bandage, putting me at ease about caring for the wound and realistic limitations. I saw Dr. Clarke here and she was fantastic! I had previously been diagnosed with a different skin condition on my foot, but Dr. Clarke said she was "confident" it was actually something else. She wrote me a prescription for a pill but also wanted me to use a topical foam, which she actually gave me enough free samples of that I didn't have to pay a pharmacy at all for it! Of course her diagnosis was spot on and it cleared up nicely in 2 weeks! I went back in for a 2-week follow up and she didn't even charge me for it because it was just a quick look! When has a doctor ever not charged for a visit?! So in short, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Roxann Clarke. I know she's not on their website but she was listed on the Blue Cross Blue Shield provider directory so I called up and made an appointment and you should too! A+++ best podiatrist ever!!! read more
