Kim at Hears to U Audiology in Hopkins recently set me up with a new hearing aid from Widex and a Widex Com-Dex, a wearable Wi-fi instrument for people with difficulties using their phones. The hearing aid is a Widex Evoke 330, and I'm getting excellent results from it. It's quiet and quite clear and crisp, but the Com-Dex is what I'm most excited about. I'm very deaf, and I have a LOT of trouble dealing with phone calls. My family members are understanding and I can usually talk to them, but service calls, making appointments, calling a store or a restaurant for information can be a horror story. Many times I've had to hang up or give the phone to my wife to complete the call. In the few days I've had it the Com-Dex has changed everything. I've been making calls with confidence. No more "I'm sorry could you please repeat that? I'm hard of hearing." The most common words I've spoken on the telephone for the last ten years. It sounds like an exaggeration, but to me it has been life changing. I really recommend trying one to anyone who has fear or frustration making phone calls. After visiting four audiologists in a neighboring state and experimenting with different hearing aids over the past decade, I was never satisfied with the clarity of my hearing--from loud background noises to muffled voices. While I was prepared to accept that my hearing was the best that it would ever be, I decided to make one last-ditch effort to try to correct my hearing loss. By happenstance I learned that Kim Fishman has an outstanding reputation. After working with her, I can attest to the fact that she is a perfectionist. She is not satisfied until her clients reach their peak hearing potential. She patiently walked me through a new set of hearing aids and other accessory options to hear better in noise and she always encouraged me to reach out for more assistance. I have had a pair of Widex hearing aids for around 5 years. I like them and they perform very well. I knew my hearing changed so I wanted to get them reprogramed. Went online and found that Kim @ Chears was a dealer for them. I moved here few months ago so not knowing where to go I went shopping online. Called and explained my needs and they told me a price and I gave them my Insurance info. When I arrived I was impressed. Very nicely decorated and a warm feeling of welcome. Even had cookies set out. Nice! Was greeted with two pleasant smiles from Kim and Susan and we hit it off with jokes and laughs. Kim went over my concerns again and we went to work on the ear inspection and then reprogram. Not only did she reset them, replaced tubes and ear pieces, she added a new program. The audiologist, Kim Fishman spent a lot of time with me making sure I had the right hearing aids for my hearing loss. I actually tested 4 different brands and finally bought my favorite. The price was competitive with other hearing aid centers, and she was even competitive with the price of the online sites that only sell, not service or adjust, hearing aids. I have worn hearing aids for many years, and this was to be my third set, so from experience I know what is important when choosing a hearing aid provider. The big plus with Hears 2 U was the service I received from Kim Fishman. She was very professional, patient and knowledgeable, and she has the right kind of testing equipment to make sure your aids fit properly, and you hear well. I would definitely recommend Hears to U. Traveling recently from Rochester, NY to visit relatives in Minneapolis, I was distressed to find that one of my Phonak hearing aids had stopped working. Installing a new battery did not fix the problem. Based on the good reviews given "Hears to U Audiology" on Yelp, I phoned this business in hope of getting the aid repaired. The owner, Kim, kindly took a few moments out from serving a customer to advise me to first try changing the wax guard on the malfunctioning hearing aid. She then offered to squeeze me into her very busy appointment schedule that day if her proposed solution didn't work. Changing the wax guard revived the "dead" hearing aid. For such kindness and service to an out-of-town stranger, one from whom she had little expectation of financial gain, Kim and "Hears to U Audiology" richly deserve five stars. My experience with Chears started after I ran over my old hearing aids with my lawn mower. No my best move! Knowing I needed to buy new aids, I went on line and looked at reviews for just about every audiologist in the Twin cities. My dad suffers from dementia and I wasn't sure he would agree to get hearing aids. When I brought him to CHEARS, Kim and Susan quickly figured out the best way to work with him through the exam and fitting. We tried a demo set of hearing aids for a week for a nominal fee to see if they'd work out for him. There really was a marked difference in his ability to get and stay engaged in conversation. After we bought a pair, Kim suggested we come back multiple times so she could slowly increase the volume for my dad. Adding too much volume too quickly was startling and distressful to him. After a month and several easy visits, my dad is using them at optimal volume and although he doesn't realize it, the rest of us see the positive impact they've made. At 91, and using all the excuses & objections known to man, I finally persuaded my mother, with a lot of help and patience from Kim, to spring for new hearing aids. Kim Fishman is wonderful! I finally decided to get hearing aids and Kim helped me through the process by letting me try several different brands till I found ones that I'm quite happy with. I tried four different ones for a week each before I decided. She is very helpful and knowledgeable and not pushy. I have had Kim as my audiologist for 5 or 6 years and have always been happy with the excellent friendly service I have received. I had to hunt Kim up on the internet because she was prevented from contacting her patients when she left her previous position. I was determined to continue with her if she was still in business. My 14-year-old son does not enjoy medical appointments (who does?). His multiple disabilities make him hard to understand, which I why I chose Kim Fishman (my cousin) to help him choose hearing aids. I found Kim thru True Hearing Insurance Plan because it was getting too expensive to buy a new hearing aid. She was thoughtful in looking for the best aid for the least cost that I could afford. I had been wearing an aid for 60 years and Kim was extremely helpful in choosing an aid for my loss. She suggested a Bcross for my deaf ear and It has worked great.
