Took 4 singing lessons with them through a Groupon deal as a complete beginner -- had a blast. (My groupon process went perfectly fine, not sure why so many people seem to be having trouble with it) Russell, my teacher, put forth an effort to make me feel comfortable singing as a newbie and is overall a really warm guy. I got really informative lessons, and I personally wanted to go every time after the first lesson. He's seriously passionate about giving people the opportunity to express themselves through music, and that just seeps through his lessons. Very disorganized and unprofessional business. I got a pack of 3 classes as a present. It was very challenging to schedule the first one due to disorganization and lack of communication. It started late. The second class was canceled a few hours before it was scheduled with no explanation. We called the business owner and she ended up hanging up the phone. Just to be clear, the problem of this business is not with the teachers (my experience with Russel was very nice), but with the management, organization and client treatment. My daughter has been going to Heart of Singing for about 4 years now and she absolutely loves it there! Over the four years there Nicole and Russel have helped my daughter with learning piano/ukulele, getting big roles in her school musicals, and learning how to perfect her singing voice. Perhaps the management has changed. Unfortunately, at this time, the management is extremely unprofessional and unfriendly. After purchasing a series of lessons, our first lesson was extremely difficult to schedule, started late, and did not go for the entire time. Our next lesson was canceled two hours before the start time. We were unable to reschedule. A refund was requested and refused. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with this experience...and out money. It's really sad for the teachers that they do not have better management. read more

I have been working with heart of singing for about a year now and I have improved so much . I recorded myself from day one till now and you can really see all the improvements. I came In Really shy couldn't sing in front of people to now, I just want to sing my heart out . Even through all of this Covid 19 stuff we still work really hard each class through zoom. I originally found out about Heart of Singing when I purchased a Groupon for voice lessons. I was immediately struck by Nicole's supportive and encouraging style. As I was new to singing, she suggested that I learn piano as well to help train my ear and it made a huge difference. She's so skilled in knowing exactly what needs to be changed in order to produce a better sound, and is extremely patient while you're working to get there. I arrived at my 3 PM appointment to the business being locked. I knocked, and waited several minutes and observed the lights were off, and nobody was in the reception area. I called the number listed on the banner hanging across the window, and the phone went straight to voicemail. Groupon then called the number listed on the website of the business, and the number went straight to voicemail. The owner tried to make it seem as if I had gone to the wrong business. They stated the door was stuck, and I simply need "pull it harder" and that they had, in fact, been at the business. 1) The door was not stuck, I pulled it HARD multiple times, it was clearly locked. 2) Not one employee was in the reception area, and the lights were out. 3) Upon calling, the phone went straight to voicemail, further implicating nobody was at the business. 4) Groupon called, to not response. I never once received an apology from the business owner, and rather this person chose to make me believe I had been in the wrong. TO ANYONE WHO PURCHASES THE GROUPON - DO NOT try and book with them on their website. You will not receive any word. Believe me, I had tried multiple times to the point where I had to contact Groupon to receive word back from them. I would avoid this business at all costs. They are very difficult to work with. read more

I'm horribly uncomfortable singing in front of people. Russell makes me not give a hoot and just be in a non-judgemental and fun learning environment. I've signed up for regular classes with a slight discount after my initial groupon lessons were used and noticed the dance class before my vocal lessons also looked fun so I am taking those too now. There are a variety of dance lessons and they are extremely reasonable. It's a small personal studio where you feel welcomed and not overwhelmed. Everyone is very nice. read more

Very disorganized business. Arrived for my appointment to find another lesson in session with owner insisting I had scheduled a later time. (I hadn't.) Was told I would be given a pro-rated refund for the unused Groupon I had purchased for 4 lessons. After waiting several weeks, owner sent me a nasty text (I would be happy to share), indicating that "there are no Groupon cancellations" even though I had not canceled the lesson. I purchased s groupon for this place. I was so excited to get my child started with guitar lessons. I called and emailed the place many times before they returned my call. Nicole Cooper called back. She was a bit rude and arrogant when I asked her questions. I think I was really excited, and she was not. I then tried to schedule my son's lessons. She acted like it was an inconvenience to call me back or return my emails. I had to call many times. She said that once we made the appointments, we could not change them. They would be at the same time and day. Then she rescheduled on us for a different time! I told her that my brother-in-law was sick, and may be dying. She didn't care, and said that we would lose our groupon, and furthermore, if cancelled within 24 hours, we would be charged $30! My son broke his finger, and is in excruciating pain. I offered to send her the surgeon's letter. I called and emailed more than 24 hours in advance. I offered to send my daughter instead, since my son had not even started. She said she could not do that, and said that she could charge me for the $30 cancellation fee!! I would give this place 0 stars!! How could anyone be so mean!! read more

I've been with Nicole for at least 5 years now and I have grown tremendously with her. I was looking for a singing teacher after my previous teacher passed away. I remember being really nervous for my first lesson but Nicole made me feel really comfortable. She noticed my talent but also found ways that I could improve. Since then, I've been having lessons every week with her and watching her company grow. She started to add other opportunities for her students like musical theater programs and ukulele lessons. I started doing musical theater with her and I got to meet her other students and I gained a best friend from that. In my private lessons, both Nicole and Russell help my vocal technique and because of that my vocal abilities have blossomed. Nicole and Russell also have seasonal recitals that help students become more familiar with performing in front of an audience. (I personally find that really helpful because I get nervous to sing in front of people sometimes) Nicole and Russell are both amazing teachers and have so much to offer! read more

I owe Russell and Nicole a tremendous amount of gratitude! It has been my dream to take voice lessons and be able to sing in front of others. I finally to the plunge after buying a Groupon and figured, "hey if they tell me I suck or this doesn't go they wanted it to, then oh well, it's four lessons." I was BLOWN away!! After my Groupon was done, I immediately signed up for a year contract (which by the way is reasonably priced, good luck finding that anywhere else). Russell is my coach and he's given me the confidence I needed! He's laid back, easy to work with and gives me positive reinforcement! Nicole is the other coach and I also work with her at times. Nicole and Russell are a team and that's how they work, making their business a comfortable, safe environment for people to come and be themselves. It truly feels like a family to me. Unprofessional, unorganized, dishonest, and very dissapointing. The owner Nicole falsified contract changing dates after signing and added a second page I was unaware of until I asked for a copy. I was promised services for a hip hop cardio class after using a groupon for hip hop class and when the instructed left so did the services. I requested a refund for the remainder of classes not used and Nicole refused. I have never been treated so poorly by a business owner. I will not return and strongly suggest taking your business else where if you prefer doing organized, professional, and honest business. read more

Russell, an amazing opera singer himself worked with me to sing a surprise Russian song for my wife at our wedding. It was amazing and I can't thank Russell enough for improving my vocals. I originally heard about Heart of Singing early last year thru a Groupon. I didn't have any real expectations going in....I just wanted to get some vocal lessons and hoped I'd luck out with someone halfway decent. Wellllll, to my pleasant surprise, I have been THRILLED with Nicole! From the very beginning, I feel like she's invested in me and helping me to be a better singer. Nicole has identified my problem and struggle areas and is working with me to improve. Even when I needed to take a few month's break, Nicole reached out on occasion to check in and see how I was doing, without me feeling pressure to return. I'm currently a student again and I look forward to our weekly lesson.
