We asked her about protecting devices from static electricity, and she didn't have a clue about anything beyond scanning purchases and pushing the extended warranty plans. If you have questions about items here, just ask one of the employees...not a cashier. Overall, this is a nice clean store. Don't expect to find everything you're looking for. But if you need basic accessories and gaming stuff, this place has all of that.

Inspection took two weeks and two days, Then I get a call from Anthony and he said he could fix the problem also my other control knob was also on the verge of breaking and he would fix that too. The estimate is between $180 and $200. I gave him the go ahead and my speaker was repaired within two days. I asked him if I could pick up the speaker within four days Saturday because I lived way on the south side and he said that was fine. When I picked up the speaker we tested it there to make sure it was working properly. Not only was it working properly and both control knobs were fixed but he added the knobs that were missing that caused the problem in the first place. My total charge including inspection $200. I 100% recommend Athonys Electronics, Friendly service, reasonable price, honest. I did not mind the inspection wait time it just shows that he does not rush jobs and wants to do it right. the picture on the right shows what the speaker knob looked like before I took it in. I was referred to Adam at Decibel, who is an owner. He spent 3 hours with me on the day I went there to listen to the speakers, he recommended a specific speaker model suitable for my living space and listening tastes (all classical, mainly chamber), I had brought a couple of my cd's with me, he recommended a specific cd player which was so good it enhanced magnificently the very old cd recordings I deliberately brought with me (because I love them). Then, because I have a large LP collection, he recommended a specific turntable and stylus. He hooked up the cd player and then the turntable and I was blown away by their incredible, natural, precise, warm sounds. On top of that, he told me that various components were on sale, which was a nice plus. I had in my then home some old high-end equipment (B&W 801's, a custom made tube amp, custom made turntable, etc) which I asked if they would be interested in as a trade-in. He offered to look at them, I sent photos, he said he would move the equipment to his shop and then determine the value. The trade-in value he gave me, after his truly exhaustive research, was more than I expected, and even with respect to one piece for which he couldn't determine the value, he offered to sell it for me on consignment (I declined and simply wanted to donate it to him, but he insisted on giving me something for it). On top of that, they delivered and set up the system in my new abode, spent many hours doing that, training me, testing it, and then returned a week later to switch the speaker stands he recommended (which weren't in stock originally) which also were hugely discounted and he thought better than the loaner stands he gave me, retested all the equipment, and has left me with a concert hall quality sound system that is breathtakingly accurate and spacious, at an incredibly fair price. They are a pleasure to work with, no hard sell, no special fake listening room (just a normal, open space with stuff and people in it), very responsive and very, very honest. I cannot more highly recommend them, whatever your level of interest might be. (Incidentally, they have a large variety of equipment). (This review is entirely voluntary. Baseball Field overhaul. I recently helped to implement many updates to a High School Baseball field. We knew we were installing a 50' scoreboard, we knew we were installing stadium seats around our backstop and we knew that we had to have an audio system to match the top shelf improvements we were installing. Understand that I knew "nothing" about selecting the proper audio equipment. So I began shopping and gathering information for about 3 weeks. Most every supplier would ask about the number of people my audio would need to reach, but GCD would always ask more questions and gather more information so they could make the best decision for me. I probably talked to them 10 times or more before I placed the order, they never got tired of answering the same questions....I wanted it to be perfect. LET ME TELL YOU........IT ROCKS!! I purchased the Crown XLS1000 amp, Evid 6.2 speakers, Peavey PV10 mixer, AKG WMS 40 Pro wireless microphone pair. I have my computer hooked up, CD player, I-Pod and mics connected to the mixer. I have slots for almost any electronic that you can think of, keyboards or string, it is almost endless the possibilities that I can combine. The voice over and mixer ability to control silly sound volumes like organ music or pump up music between my innings or the pump up music before the game is so easy. Every summer I help organize a 4-day long outdoor DJ showcase as a part of Chicago's FIESTA DEL SOL street festival (hoschicago.org). Last summer we decided that it was time to upgrade our whole DJ & speaker setup, so after doing some research & asking a good number of local DJs, we decided to rent our entire setup from Gearclub Direct. I can honestly say that that was the best decision we made. We met with Meir & Luis and explained the festival and what we thought we needed in order to take our event to that next level. We took a ride with one of their tech guys to the area where our showcase is located every year, and based off of the size of the area and how many people we were expecting, we were able to determine the right amount of speakers and power that was going to be needed to make that space come alive. The speaker setup that we received absolutely blew the place away (dB Technologies DB DVA S20DP's and dB T4's), and it was definately the upgrade that we had envisioned. The festival is four days, and everyday GCD had one of their tech guys on-call for us in case we needed any assistance or trouble-shooting, which we didn't. We received tons of praise from everyone from attendees to the DJs headlining the event on how great our setup sounded and how much of an improvement it was from previous years. If Gear Club tells you something regarding the shipment of an item but can not deliver it is more than likely a manufacturer issue and not a Gear Club issue. I used to be a Guitar Center customer until I found Audiolines on Belmont which is now the current Gear Club Direct. The former owner (BF) of Audiolines sold over $3,000 worth of my old used equipment and never gave me a penny of the money, I had to take equipment that I really did not need or want at the time to get my money back. I was thrilled to see Meir move back into the old Audiolines building and open up as Gear Club Direct. Luis and Meir have become partners and between them you will find knowledgeable people with a compassion and desire to not only get you what you think you want but what you actually need and at the best price possible. Incredible Unserious staff! Incredible liars! Ridiculously bad people to do business with! I had a deal with Manny on buying a ddj sz case from gator, for which I paid full amount immediately. In the end Manny could not find that particular case for me and said he will refund money right away. It takes 3 to five business days to process the money back. It has been two weeks almost!!! Nothing received. Asked multiples times by calling this place for a receipt on the refund to be emailed. Nothing! Manny Garcia went in vacation. Now Luis Garcia is working on it. Same thing. Purchased a small PA Speaker ($200) and got great service from DJ Ora. I came in late, close to closing and he was patient as we went through options. I checked things out on-line (reviews for products and prices) and info he was giving me was spot on with what I was finding and prices were matching low prices elsewhere. He was patient while I checked even after the store closed. Made the purchase, but forgot my tax exempt form. Worked with Luis the next day to get the sales tax removed via email. He has fixed my Fender Strat when I thought it was beyond repair, he tuned up my PRS, and he completely hooked up my Ollandac. I had the Ollandoc custom made and when it arrived it needed lots of work. He adjusted the nut, straighten the neck, installed new Duncan 59 pickups on both the neck and bridge. The pick ups were a bit tricky because they are the 4 conductor model that needed to be wired up for straight humbucker, split coil, and parallel switching. UJM is the only place I trust to touch my babies and she sounds amazing now! The work is done fast, correct, cost effective, and you can tell they take pride in their work. Love the fact that they don't try to up sell you and they give great advise. Give the small guys a chance and stay away from big shop retailers that only care about $$$$. The staff if friendly and fun to talk too, UJM has a customer for life and I recommend them to anyone I talk too! Well done UJM!

Yes I strongly recommend however my experience is let down well how so I mean long story short Mr…read more Rob directed his lower associate named jack to trade three guitars for one and include a gator soft case however that is where in went down hill jack after taking an order from his higher up store associate who checks the guitars he ignored his order he charged me the soft case and strap which is disappointing accounting for the return they get from all three guitars they received from me the customer and a previous purchase within the same house of an electric guitar with soft case he completely ignore Mr Robs order and charged me for the case and strap that was greed I seen from jack despite the return they get from the trade ins minimum $800 he knows so I strongly recommend you affirm a deal with Mr rob to stay there or somehow try a different store associate I'll be back in the near future but my experience was alright but the part with Mr rob he personally came to talk to me the trade in offer after hearing me play romance de amor and he was very kind elderly man I'll remember the moment Rock n roll
