Hello, My name is Trudie and I have taken the CPR and First Aid classes now for the last four years with Heart Savers. They are very up to date with what is new and is being used daily in the field of medicine. They have instructors that are very approachable and are very easy to understand and talk with about any concerns you may have. They provide very comfortable spots to do your classes in that are near where you may need to take them. They also give breaks so you're not just listening to someone talk to you the whole time. The instructor was Jesse Lee. The class was not dry and boring. Although his jokes were korny it kept our attention. I have used heart savers for over 20 years and would recommend them. They do not start on time. But that is no fault of theirs. People need to come 10 min. early to be registered. The class did not officially begin until 8:25 but still ended right on time, 12:30. read more

I recently took a CPR class here within the last year. When I called to register I was put on hold, but only for a brief moment, then was helped by a cheery, happy lady that assisted me in finding a close location to my house at a time that fit my schedule perfectly! When I took the class I was pleasantly surprised by the Instructors humor and ability to keep the entire class engaged for the duration of the class. I was there for around 4 - 5 hours but it went by very quickly and I received my certs right after class. I had to get my BLS certification before starting a new job the following week, so I was signed up for a Wednesday class. I was very disappointed when they called me that morning saying the class was cancelled. I had to scramble to find another class with a different AHA approved company in a very short time. I feel that they left me hanging and they should have enough instructors to cover these instances. read more

I had the instructor, Eric for my Article 9 class on Saturday. We had so much material to cover in 3 hours and take our test. Eric made the 3.5 hours so enjoyable as well as I learned so much in that time frame. My husband and I took the adult/pediatric first aid/AED/CPR class. The location was easy to find and clean. During this Covid pandemic they adhered to all recommendations (social distanced chairs, dummies, universal masking, hand washing, sanitizer, etc...)... I was very impressed. I went to the location near 59th and Thunderbird and I wasn't that excited about sitting in a CPR and First Aid class for 5 hours! Luckily for me, the instructor made time fly, her name was Heather Harlan and she cracked some jokes here and there. She answered all questions that were asked in a understanding manner. This was the 5th time I've taken these classes & I learned more today from Frank than in all the other CPR/First Aid classes I've taken in the past. The April 30th class in Tucson. The Instructor arrived only 15 minutes before class start time. Then he waited until 15 minutes after the scheduled start time to actually begin. The assistant...He sat in the front of the room and texted most of the time. My biggest gripes... A) The instructor stressed "let's get done on time and get you out of here." Hmmmm. He pushed his need for speed rather than the audience need to learn. ... B) All lecture/verbal. No video. No audience practice of the needed skills. .... C) We (all attenders) "passed" our CPR skill with only ONE minute of guided hands-on work on the mannikin. (one minute each on the adult mannikin and on the infant mannikin). No practice, no corrections, no review. No one will actually remember what or how to do these important skills an hour after wasting the day at this training. read more

We take this class every 2 years to stay current. Our instructor was Ben who did an outstanding job. Just the right mix of essential wisdom and light humor. The science of CPR continues to evolve so we always learn something new. My wife and I highly recommend this class and certainly Ben too. read more

I had CPR/ First-Aid training yesterday with Don. She knew her stuff and gave good examples/stories. Social distancing was practiced. Some issues were the area was shared and it seemed like someone had moved her training items which made her seem unprepared. She also seemed a bit rushed towards the end because it was nearing 12pm. The time of the training displayed online was set for 4.5 hours not 3.5. So I thought she actually had another hour and did not know why she was rushing through the information. Hands on work would have been nice. read more

We are always so quick to write a review and share our opinions when things don't go the way we think they should go or something makes us "mad". So I wanted to talk the time to write a review on what did go right. I have been to a lot of CPR and First Aid classes over the years. And I have to say that this was the best class. Ben was knowledgeable and knew what he was teaching. He also made it fun. I believe that people learn better when there is laughter involved. His jokes were appropriate and funny. He also led the conversations. It is so frustrating when one person ask question after question that has nothing to do with the subject. Ben answered the questions but steered it so we could continue with the material. We finished in a timely manner and I learned something new. I would highly recommend Ben and your company. I've been taking my first aid and CPR classes with Hearts Savers for a few years now. Franco was a great instructor! He taught the content clearly while adding in humor to keep us engaged. He regularly reviewed concepts and did checks for understanding to make sure we were retaining the information. **I originally wrote this review on 11/30/11 but it was removed because I included personal information about the instructor (her first and last name). I am reposting it sans any personal information or other questionable content.** I called Heart Savers to schedule a BLS for healthcare providers course and spoke to a polite female on the phone. She confirmed there was space available on the date I requested to attend the course, and took my information. Fast forward a couple of days...As luck would have it, there was a terrible accident on the 202 on my way to the class. Ten minutes before class was scheduled to start I phoned Heart Savers to inform them that I would be a few minutes late, but there was no answer. I called sever time over the next 10 minutes to no avail. I pulled into a parking spot in front of Heart Savers at 6:09 PM. I entered the location, and there was a woman sitting at one of the desks in the front room. She looked down her nose at me without so much as a greeting. I informed her that I was there for the CPR class. She said that the video had just started and that I could not enter the classroom. I explained that there was a serious accident (as it turns out it was a deadly roll-over) on the highway that had caused the delay. Stared at me as if I was speaking a different language. I then read the telephone number I had been calling aloud to verify that I had been dialing the right number. She confirmed the number was correct, but said she didn't answer the phone because she was teaching the class. The problem with this was that I had called several times between 5:50 and 6:00 PM, before class was scheduled to begin. She maintained that she was teaching and could not answer the phones. I went on to explain that I had a job interview the following day and that I needed to have my new CPR card in order to be considered for the position. She shrugged her shoulders and stared. Frustrated with the situation I headed to the door and muttering under my breath. I asked the woman for her name and exited the building in shambles. Once outside, I called the location again. Despite the fact that she was sitting in the front room where the phone was ringing, she did not answer. She just looked at the phone and then continued to do whatever it was that she was doing. I was furious! I sat in my car fuming trying to figure out what to do. I decided that I needed to get the heck out of there, and make sure the world knows that Heart Savers treats paying customers like imbeciles? Yes! That was the perfect solution. So here I sit, writing to say that if you value small things, like good customer service, and being treated with respect, you may want to take your business elsewhere. If this instructor is any indication of what the rest of the Heart Savers staff is like you can expect to be treated as if you are a lesser life form. I understand that rules are rules. If the policy is that no one may enter the class once the video starts, so be it. But is it really that that hard to greet a customer when they enter your establishment? And, God forbid, treating that customer with a little respect, compassion and understanding. A simple, "I am sorry but..." would have gone a long, long way in this situation. I assure you that Heart Savers will never receive a cent from me. Ever. read more

If you are a beginner with no prior CPR experience AVOID this place. I had instructors Chuck and Tim. Chuck was amazing, he admitted he was ready to go home (6-9 class), however, he was helpful, cracked jokes and was patient with the class, sadly, Tim was not that way, it was bad enough for the beginners with no experience due to the lack of practice time and poor setup, but his impatience and attitude towards those in my class who were a little behind was outrageous. If he did not want to be there which was very obvious, he needed to go home. For a instructor and a 3 hour class your company should be sure to schedule better so your employees are not exhausted before teaching a skills class that requires teaching students how to attempt to save human lives. Also, they do not use disposable breathing valves, and it appeared as if Tim just took the pieces in poured some hand soap and water over them and cleaned them, which is really not cleaning them properly, and kind of grossed me out at the end when he was cleaning everything up. Your teaching with very basic- 1 practice run, and then boom we should have been ready to test for it? The class structure was poor, I got 1 paper hand out and a NO book for $55. read more

Haley was the instructor and was well versed in the curriculum. She presented the course in an interestng and fluid manner. The online registration was fast and easy. The YMCA venue was sufficient but not to level of what I had expected, which was the reason for my 4 stars rating and not 5. That said, I will most likely recertify through your program when the time comes. read more

I just took the class today. It was the longest 5.5 hours of my life. The instructor Scott was more concerned about making gender discriminatory jokes than teaching. He told more than enough stories about himself and his personal life than anyone wanted to here. He had the testosterone level of a teenage boy and he made it very clear by throwing out inappropriate jokes every other minute. If you're at all interested in just learning the pertinent material and not being bombarded by religious puns, scientific theories and sexual innuendos I would suggest you pick a different instructor and possibly a different facility all together. read more
