I placed an order on November 19th for canine Adequan. I received an email 11/21 stating they faxed my vet for authorization (2 days later). My vet faxed back right away. My dog needed this medication asap. I only ordered from Heartland because my usual sources for prescriptions had the medicine on back order. I didn't hear anything from Heartland for 9 days after I placed order. I emailed them asking if it was shipped and then instead of a response they sent me that it was shipped first class to me. It took atleast 5 more days to receive. I was happy I was home to get the medication directly out of the mailbox as the mailman dropped it off mid-day. When I opened it, I was VERY UPSET as the 2 vials of medication were simply wrapped in brown paper and were VERY HOT to the touch. This medication is not supposed to get hot! I immediately put it in my fridge to cool it down. The other company I order from ships it in very thick Styrofoam insulation that keeps it from getting hot. My dog was already late for his medication so I took the vials out so they would get room temperature and gave him his dose, he acted lethargic and had upset stomach the whole weekend. I wasn't sure if the medication was the cause so gave him a second dose the next weekend. Big mistake! My dog had very runny diarrhea and vomiting for 3 days, getting worse instead of better and starting diarrhea and vommiting blood! Took him to the vet very worried and he was dehydrated. Had to give him fluids and anti-diarrhea shot and anti-nausea pills for 5 days. Vet said it could have been life threatening if I didn't bring him in when I did. I sent Heartland an email stating the vials were poorly packaged, I used 2 doses they made my dog sick and I wanted a full refund, happy to return. Also told them they need to package their medication better so it is safe for pets. ZERO response 2 weeks later!!!! Extremely pissed off at this company for putting my dog's life in danger and not giving a crap. DO NOT USE!!!! Not worth it!!!! Lesson Learned: Please check reviews for places before ordering online. My vet told me they match online prices, yours probably does the same. The other online company I was very happy with prior was KV Supply. read more

I needed to find a hard-to-get medication for my senior pet and was having trouble with other online vendors. I had just gotten off the phone with one of the vendors who told me they were out of stock and wouldn't be able to get their supply until mid-summer (this was January and after I had placed the order two days before). Since this was a heart medication my dog needed to take twice a day and couldn't just stop, I needed to find it asap. I found Heartland Veterinary Supply through an online search and crossed my fingers while I called their number. I was connected to Amy who told me they did, in fact, have the medication I needed. I knew this would sell out if I waited so I asked her how I could place this order to ensure I got it. She helped my set up my account and took my information and advised me to contact my vet's office to get the script info to them as soon as I could. I hung up with her and got my vet's office on the phone and gave them all the information that Amy gave me (order number, phone number with option to use when calling in the script) to get the order processed. I called back and somehow got Amy back on the phone. She checked and saw that they had received the info from my vet and finished the order. This was two days ago and I just got the package via UPS. This was my first time using Heartland Vet Supply and as much as I loved the lower prices on UlcerGard (I know every ulcer owning/preventing owner feels me), I was COMPLETELY won over by Elizabeth Parillo's customer service. My order needed to get to Virginia so that my horse can ship across the country next week. Upon having her health cert completed they discovered that she appeared to have the beginning signs of ulcers due to health complications over the summer and several highly aggressive horses in her herd. Needless to say, she's a bit stressed. So I needed UlcerGard STAT for her trip to her calmer home with me here in Colorado. Found it the cheapest (YAY) on Heartland Vet Supply and ordered two day shipping so it gets there a few days before her trip. Naturally, there was a mix up (probably on my end because of the time difference when I ordered) but the meds wouldn't get to her in time. I called and in three rings was greeted by the nicest person (Liz, you're seriously amazing). She helped me increase my shipping speed in less than five minutes. I'm pretty disappointed with my purchase thus far from this business. Yes, the prices are great. But, it has now taken more than half a dozen calls just to get the prescription in and verified. After my vet hadn't heard anything from Heartland 2 days after I placed my order, I called them and was assured it was being faxed to my vet then and there. Next day, still nothing. I called again and was promised it was being sent over that moment. My vet had to make multiple calls just to get the script right. I know for certain it was all corrected and verified 2 days ago and yet my order still isn't shipped. Even if they ship it out Monday, with the 3-5 business shipping days promised, it'll be nearly 2 weeks after I placed by order when I receive it. For most online orders, I really wouldn't mind. But this is medication. Promptness and organization are vital. It's very apparent to both myself and my vet that there's a major lack of organization and communication here. It's a shame. If you're just getting supplements or general supplies they might be just fine. But, I don't think I'll ever be back or able to recommend the pharmacy services unless they remedy this situation and make up for this incompetence with this order. read more

I want to tell my extremely positive story to hopefully offset some of the bad on here. I placed and order for a large amount of insulin for our Rott. I had never ordered here before and then I saw all these reviews and freaked out. I placed this order on a Sunday morning and saw the reviews in the evening. I freaked out like any good pet parent would do and called them the next morning. I explained why and was assured that things would go well if the got the fax back from my vet. They even called while I was on hold to see if my vet would give a verbal. I did lean on my vet a little while later to make sure. I got a follow up call in the afternoon that all was well and should receive shipping notification (which I did from them and UPS). And low and behold the saga ends with a well packed cooler pack on my porch three working days from placing the order WITH getting the script from my vet. I want to thank you guys for doing a great job. For soothing my worried mind and delivering promptly something that is a necessity and not a whim. I will be following this order up soon hopefully. Like many others on here, I have never written a negative review and if I could give zero stars Heartland Vet Supplies would get none. Ordered meds for my dog 20 days before they would run out. During ordering process I was upsold a flea collar that I was told was safe for children. Fast forward 3 weeks, the meds arrived three weeks after order and the label on the collar packaging says "not safe for children, wash hands immediately, do not allow pets to sleep in bed with humans" . So, when I call them to return they tell me I have to pay for return shipping as well as a 10% restocking fee. HUH? Spoke to supervisor who said they would waive the restocking fee if I pay shipping so I agreed. After returning the collar they wait a week to credit and guess what?.. 10% restocking fee deducted. Immediate dispute with AMEX after they refuse to honor their word and do the right thing. So many other places with low prices to order from, just avoid these guys completely. ZERO STARS read more

Nicki responded in a timely manner, the next day, with all the information I needed as well as telling me about a promotional discount available. I made my on-line purchase on Jan 1, 2019 and then discovered I had made an error and did not get the discount I wanted. I immediately sent an email to Nicki to see if she could correct my error. She responded back and gave me a better promotional discount for my purchase. I called my vet's office this morning to see if he had received the request for 2 new prescriptions. He had already approved the meds so I'm expecting the meds in a timely manner. As a senior on a fixed income, I certainly appreciated Nicki's thoughtfulness and great customer service! When it comes to finding a reliable and efficient online distributor for pet medication, Heartland Veterinary Supply, along with their lead resolution specialist, Mintha, have not let me down! I have tried several distributors over the past year, as my dog developed a chronic health condition that requires a consistent supply of expensive medication. Like most families, money does play a factor- with the constant promotions, I've yet to find another distributor to beat Heartland's prices. As for customer service? I don't complain on Yelp, but I have to with this place. Their system for placing orders has kinks in it and you have to keep checking back to see if your order is actually placed. When I find problems within a system, I always believe it is important to talk to a Supervisor so they are aware and have the opportunity to fix their system. I was refused by a receptionist who says she was on the sales team. It's just irritating when instead of acknowledging a problem and trying to fix it you are ignored. Usually because of lack of job pride or knowledge. They will give you a song and dance routine about this and that, but the bottom line is I ran out of my dog's meds all 3 times they filled the order. You will probably not receive a shipped notice when it actually does go out either. They had a best price I could find but it's not worth the the $10 savings. read more

Deplorable system for ordering and verification that forced my dog to wait 12 DAYS to receive prescription for a bladder infection. Order was placed and verified by vet on June 9 and received nothing; called on June 16 to be told "it's being put in the box, today." A full week was required to verify and package a prescription of 20 pills, while my dog suffers and has to urinate every hour. Also was told prescription was "received and verified" on June 12, yet it took four days for these professionals to put the pills in a box and print a shipping label. Disgusting. I hope they expect the same lackadaisical attitude when their pet is sick. All this for $7 shipping fee. I could have driven to Nebraska and picked up the prescription without spending much more money. read more

The staff is gracious, knowledgeable and works with a can do attitude. Buying across country for vaccines isn't easy and sometimes there are snags. Excellent service! Just placed my first Rx order with HVS, found them searching for reasonable price and shipping time. Wound up calling to ask about the order status, spoke to Liz and found out that my vet's approval wasn't received for a couple of days. During the conversation I expressed my concern about getting the order quickly as our pet was in dire need of her meds. Cassidy was very polite and understanding, and she did everything she could to help me get this medication for my dog. I received the Azodyl that my senior Labrador desperately needed very quickly. I believe that the Azodyl is what brought my senior dog back to life, along with a few other treatments. I just wish that they could overnight it Friday and get it on Saturday. Friday is my payday. Instead of waiting till Monday-Thursday. Medications ARE that important.
