We've used Heatco twice now, once to replace the furnace burner and the hot water tank a number of years ago, the second time just yesterday to replace the complete furnace. Theo was the technician the first visit, and Sia did the recent call, both provided top shelf service. I found them to be on time, accurate, very fair price wise and ultimately highly trustworthy, along with being good people. They won't sell you something you don't need, but also won't just band aid a solution. They will recommend what is necessary to do now with an eye down the road as to what will be your best choice long term. In our case, they could have replaced the blower and other parts on the old furnace for about half the price of a new one (which comes with a 10 year warranty), so the decision was easy to replace the entire unit. Super impressed with the service. Called me back right away to book an appointment and kept in contact as well as came on time. He spent a long time trying to figure out the problem with my fireplace, however it ended up he didn't have he part to fix it, so he went away to find out where to get it. After spending two hours on it, he decided he would have to get a specialist to help with it. And he didn't even charge for the time! Best customer service I've ever seen. Paul is an absolute heater genius, and a great guy to boot. After having an absolutely horrendous experience with a furnace service (see my previous review for a description), I called Paul. He walked me through the entire process of fixing my furnace OVER THE PHONE. It turned out to be a fairly simple fix, and the entire process took about 10-15 minutes. This guy is truly amazing: It was like he could see the furnace in front of him! On top of that, he refused to accept any payment afterwards, simply telling me to keep him in mind the next time I ran into trouble and that he was glad to help. Theo called a little after 10 to say he'll be late as he just finished a job in North Van. and I'm in Richmond, I appreciate the call. Theo got right to work to see where the problem was, he was able to find the leak and make the repair. He was efficient and courteous. I had heatco clean my fireplace a few months back. The two people who came were friendly. They didn't seem quite as thorough as a fireplace specific service company. Instead of cleaning the glass door with special cleaner, they borrowed my household glass cleaner and paper towels. The previous company who cleaned it had a special blanket to rest the glass door on, but none was used here. It didn't seem to make a big deal to me as they were half the price of the fireplace service company I used previously. They used my washroom and made a small mess on the floor with no mention to me. Not what you think so it wan't an upset to deal with. What was upsetting was the glass in the door, which is bolted onto the front of the fireplace, explosively shattering approximately a month after I had heatco service it. I phoned and talked with the tech who did the service. They denied improper handling of the glass due to their service caused the issue. He instead said it was likely due to age of the fireplace, which they might be correct. I did phone around and speak with various fireplace service companies. Some think it may have been due to negligence however others were unsure or also think it might be due to age of the fireplace. I'm now stuck with a bill of around $550-750 or more to replace the glass, plus increased cost of using electrical heat through the winter while I deal with my insurance company, as well as looking around for quotes for glass repair, or purchasing a new fireplace. I can't say for certain if heatco was negligent which caused the glass to shatter, but I do tend to wonder if I spent more money and got my fireplace cleaned by a fireplace service company, I might not be in this situation. read more

I recently had Heatco replaced my old gas boiler (for hot water heating) and gas hot water tank to a combi-boiler. Theo and Sia from Heatco came in and did the replacement in one day. Even though it was fast, the workmanship was great. Theo even showed me how to flush the system and advised that it be done every two years. The Boiler stopped working after 3 days but Theo came back ,made some adjustments, and got it going again. Great service. I can definitely recommend the services of Heatco to anyone. read more

See ya. Our furnace was down and needed heat during a cold stretch in December. Techs came out to look and mistakenly took me for a nieve fool. "the furnace is toast but we can sell you a new one for 5k", said the so-called expert. And to make matters worse, pulled the power wires apart to disable it further to make it safe. When I told them no, he said ok that'll be $89 for a call out, I don't think so. They left thankfully. I called Pioneer Heating and had a pro come to our aid (Scott). Great guy, excellent service and replaced a gas valve for $400 bucks. Beware of these crooks! There's a sucker born every minute, don't let it be you! As a small contractor myself, I can't stand these dishonest practices. It makes me angry for the good people that go to work and try to run a legit business in an honest way. He went the extra mile to show me how to use my gas fireplace and clean it even though that was not part of the services of gas furnace installation that we had hired him for. My furnace wasn't working and it was really cold. Heatco quickly advised it wasn't worth fixing and gave me a verbal quote for replacement at $5800, but if I agreed right then, I'd get $300 off. When I got a second opinion, I was advised I had a good quality furnace with lots of life in it, and the second company fixed it without a problem. read more

Tried to start my 20 year old gas furnace this morning after it not being used all summer and the old thing refused to do its job! Heatco to the rescue! Turns out a furnace lifespan is brief (I was told I was fortunate in that mine had reached the end of 2 decades) and I had to have a new one. They managed to get new one installed and working within 5 hours!!! The old thing was carted away and all the mess cleaned up. These two gentlemen were professional, knowledgeable, polite and hardworking. They did not try to oversell me but explained the various options and lifespans of new furnaces.
