I booked the spot because I needed a place to stay for the night and I stressed that a shower and toilet were essential. I was assured the bath house was nice and clean. The lady I initially spoke to was very nice. She said the rate was $35/night for primitive camping. She said they'd even throw a bundle of wood in for me. I was told I would just pay upon arrival. The day prior to leaving for my trip, I called to confirm the spot was still saved for me. I was told it was. The lady then asked if I got her text. I did not. She said she text me to let me know she was wrong on the rates and it was actually $60/night and the wood would be $20. I was upset. She called one of the owners and got approval to honor the $35 rate quoted but the wood was extra. I said ok. I clarified that I was traveling alone and would just have my dog with me. I said that I didnt want to break rules or upset anyone but would not leave my dog tied up or in car when I shower. They said it was fine and my dog could tag along as long as she stayed on a leash. All dogs on leashes. Again, I said ok. I never pet my dog off leash in unfamiliar areas. Upon arrival, I checked in. As I was standing with my dog waiting, a large black German Shepherd type approached us off leash. It came over to my 20 pound dog to say hi but my dog was frightened and trying to hide behind me. I then saw all of the hair on the big dog's neck standing straight up. I said I dont like this -- someone please get this dog NOW! So a guy did. Thankfully nothing happened but I saw the dog roaming freely again the next morning. It was obviously a dog belonging to the owners or someone working there. If it always stays up near the barn, I feel like the rule should be no unapproved dogs in the main stables/office area. Post a sign or tell people that say they are bringing dogs. That dog was obviously territorial and the situation could have turned very ugly very quickly. On to the rest of the review...... The receptionist explained how to get back to my campsite but I was confused. When asking for clarity, the man that grabbed the dog asked her if he could lead me back to my spot and she was like, "I guess." The first sites near the pond had some garbage and broken chairs nearby and I wasnt at all impressed. The guy said that the other option was by the creek. The creek was beautiful and relaxing. The grass was about a foot tall and it could have been a lot nicer if better maintained. There were some docks built around the pond and one near the creek. All of them were quite dilapidated and didnt seem safe to get on. Once it started cooling down for the eve, I went to get a shower. I opened the door to the single bathroom/shower house and it wreaked of mold. The shower was really dirty. The vanity was busted up, the toilet was beyond filthy, and there was a big piece of plywood over a giant hole in the floor. That plywood felt really soggy and was bowing under me as I stood there. I have never seen shower house conditions this bad at a campground. I pretty sure I was the only one there to camp that weekend. At first, that felt lucky for me but then I realized why nobody else was there. I didnt use the nasty bathroom at all while I was there. I opted to bathe in the creek, something I have never actually done before. That being said, this place should NOT be advertised as a suitable camping option! Further, if you're going to raise your rates to nearly double what they have been recently ($35 to $60/night), then you should absolutely make some of the necessary upgrades and maintain the campsites better. I dont write reviews often but since I relied on them to book the place and felt seriously misled by the good reviews, I decided an honest review of my experience was justified. Also, if you're going to turn horses out to pasture with their halters on, you should absolutely make sure the fencing is safe and there is nowhere they can get their halters snagged. I saw the big black mare (seal brown) with the blue halter get snagged on a very broken top rung. She started to panic when it was caught and luckily broke free from the snag after a few seconds of struggling. Basic maintenance could fix so much with this place.

She completely enthralled our group of two adults and two teens. The ride was so peaceful. We booked the first slot and the horses were alert and ready to work. My beautiful horse, Winter, listened well and took very good care of me. Even though my guys liked their horses, they were so jealous that I got to ride her. It's cash only and please tip your guide.
