Each location offers its own personality, but Adamson House continues to stand out. The combination of historic architecture, hand-painted tile details, and the unobstructed Malibu coastline creates a setting that feels both intimate and expansive. Lighting throughout the property changes beautifully as the sun moves, especially during golden hour when the ocean backdrop becomes incredibly dynamic on camera. From a production standpoint, the layout allows for a natural flow between ceremony, portraits, and reception. The oceanfront lawn offers open space for wide scenic compositions, while the Spanish-style courtyard adds depth and texture for more detailed, artistic shots. My team documented a wedding there under our studio name, Prince Weddings (PrinceWeddings.net), and the experience reinforced how well this venue photographs and films when thoughtfully planned. This review reflects only my direct experience working at the property and is shared to help couples better understand what it offers from a visual and logistical perspective.

There is essentially no practical parking in this area if you're looking to visit the house and the surrounding park/beaches directly. Beach parking fills up fast and is run by LA County (so your parking passes won't work), and street parking is filled by the surfers very early in the AM. Services and resources on the grounds are very limited (bathrooms, etc.), but the area is very well preserved as a historic location by the State Parks staff. May be very challenging to visit, but if you're here for an event, take a little time to explore the area.

It's a loop hike, and we preferred doing it clockwise. This way, the climb felt more gradual at first and gave us those rewarding canyon-top views with the canyon on one side and the ocean on the other. There's also a little waterfall and a lively stream running through the trail (we went in July, and the water was still flowing nicely). Be prepared--the ascent can be quite steep in parts, but the payoff at the top makes it all worth it. Facilities are only available at the trailhead, so plan accordingly. Dogs are allowed, but they should be kept on a leash. Parking is a bit tricky. The lot only seems to hold about 30 ish cars. I would say on the moderate / hard side.

The creek, little waterfalls (especially after rain), and the ruins tucked into the canyon make the walk interesting without feeling crowded or overwhelming. What I love most is how peaceful it feels. You get ocean air drifting in, birds everywhere, and just enough shade to make it comfortable even on warmer days. It's perfect for a relaxed hike, a slow morning walk, or taking out-of-town friends who want something scenic without a hardcore climb. Parking can fill up, especially on weekends, but once you're on the trail it's totally worth it. If you're looking for a mellow hike with history, nature, and classic Malibu vibes, Solstice Canyon is a solid choice.

A MUST DO! Admission is FREE! The Huge Cool 21 Foot Tall Fiberglass Salsa Muffler Man Statue (El…read moreSalsero) has watched over the City of Malibu & looked out over The Pacific Coast Highway for over 50 years. His frontside faces the Santa Monica Mountains & his backside faces the Pacific Ocean. He is holding a Giant Mexican Food Platter, wearing a Sombrero, Serape, & Sandals. I wouldn't make a Special Trip to come here but if you're in the Malibu area be sure to stop by & take a glimpse & a photo or two. The Former La Salsa restaurant has closed & currently remains unoccupied & in search of a new tenant. Here's some of its History. A Muffler Man Is a large fiberglass statue that was used as an advertising icon to Advertise & attract people to their businesses. They have become roadside attractions all across America & there's even some in Canada too. International Fiberglass in Venice CA made most of them. Believe it or not there are people on a quest to visit them all. There's something about these Giant Muffler Man statues that just makes people smile. Most of them were initially placed in front of Muffler Shops/Auto Repair Shops thus the name Muffler Man. The Salsa Muffler Man started out in the late 1960s as a statue carrying a Huge Hamburger which was So Cool! He was dressed as sort of a Soda Jerk serving a Giant Hamburger atop Malibu Fosters Freeze. In 1988 Artist Bob (Daddy-O )Wade converted & restyled the figure Into Salsa Man which is equally Cool. By coincidence Dennis Hopper the actor & artist made a very similar statue to this one that now sits in the Collection Center for the Arts in Dodge City Kansas. Now that the Mexican restaurant is closed should Salsa Man be changed back to the Original Hamburger Man. Only the Malibu City Council can decide that. Better still, keep Salsa Man & build a brand new Hamburger Man who watched over Malibu from the 60s-80'S. You can't have too many Cool Giant Size Icons watching over your city. Can you? LOL! It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget

When we arrived, we were surprised to see three or four homeless individuals sleeping right by the courthouse, just to the left of the library. Given that this is a wealthy liberal area known for advocating social issues, it was disappointing to see that little seems to be done about the problem. All talk no action! That said, once inside, the library was a completely different experience. My wife and I reserved a private room to get some work done, and we found the space to be quiet, well-organized, and neatly maintained. The librarian was friendly and helpful, which made our visit even better. If you're looking for a peaceful place to work or read, this library is a great option. Just be prepared for what you might encounter outside since the locals don't care!

This is the closest library to us when living in Malibu. The staff is notoriously rude, like beyond reason. They typically don't return hellos. Are cold. Lock the doors in the middle of the day making you wait outside with small children in tow. Most of the patrons during the day appear to be homeless or dirty druggie type young men that stand outside smoking, eat in the library, curse and watch TV on the computers. The arm guards are friendly and sadly very appreciated. Story time for toddlers is typically at 3:30pm, oddest story time slot for littles at any library. We come because we check out books on a regular basis. I prefer litterly any other library than this one. It doesn't feel clean, overtly safe or welcoming. The city of Malibu could do much better.

One past year, Sun Bum (sunscreen) was a sponsor and held an event at the beach that ended in a movie showing. Some year before that, KCRW held a party in collaboration. This last time, I joined in the free yoga session (with RSVP). Led by Pedal Movement, bike tours are held during this time to visit the murals. The run club I'm involved in throws a couple of the murals in the downtown area being worked on into the running route during this time. Volunteer opportunities are available (such as being on site with the artist making sure they have what they need.) Look out for it next summer!

The weeklong event that originated in Hawaii has expanded out to other parts of the country and world, including its 5th year in Long Beach. I was a bit disappointed the first year or so because they brought in a lot of outside artists when there are so many talented ones here. It also seems as if there is little collaboration between the artists and the places they paint. Businesses offer their walls and artists are given the freedom to create whatever inspires them at the time. Sometimes, the pieces seem random, whereas, others perfectly reflect the feel of the establishments. This year, I was happy to see a lot more local artists represented in the community. Some of them even took the time to collaborate with either the business or Parks & Rec to design pieces that emulate the nature of the places. I live close to Drake Park and was happy to see 3 artists beautifying it by adding more color and character. By request from neighborhood folks, Crisselle Mendiola and Jason Keam added butterflies to match the playground while Bodeck Luna depicted young people shooting hoops along the wall facing the basketball court. Another highlight from Pow! Wow! Long Beach was the closing party in the Promenade. I absolutely loved that KCRW DJs Mathieu Shreyer and Anthony Valadez came and served us some eclectic dance music. I can't wait to see what's in store next year!
