It's so cute and gorgeous and well maintained. I highly recommend to walk around especially on Saturday when there is a huge farmers market.

It's actually in LA County believe it or not, especially since it's before cities like Calabasas, Agoura Hills and Malibu and has grown and evolved with time and been super well preserved. Purchased by local resident Rick Denman in the late 90s and blossoming ever since... The GW of Topanga is about half walf up from a starting point at Ventura Blvd/ Topanga Cyn in Woodland Hills up the adventurous cruise up. Rick has filled this wall not with just his own work but other locals as well. It's a collection of so many abstract pieces, trinkets, toys, statues, tools and surprising yet fun items, because as we all know... Art is everywhere and whatever you make it. Most people take Topanga on their way to the Pacific Coast Highway from the valley side, as well as various destinations like Inn at the Seventh Ray (a personal fav other than the coastline or Malibu or Santa Monica) and get to take in this wall of local flavor which is most visible during the day and with light. Definitely gotta pull over next time I'm up. Last picture I took I was in the passenger side and we were going to quick.

Admission is free, however, they accept donation of $5 bucks. We were greeted by one of the docent staff. Our female docent, Molly, gave a tour of the house. She was informative and affable. The story begins with Miguel Leonis, a French immigrant, who refashioned the house into the two-story dwelling with wraparound exterior balcony. He shared it with his Chumash/Tongva Native American wife, Espiritu, and their daughter, Marcelina. He was illiterate albeit naturally gifted in business that eventually became a landowner. He owned 18,000 acres of land across So Cal. The museum is only open on Weekends. They have free parking lot. Overall, I had a very good experience and learned a lot from the docent. I highly recommend you visit.

There are some animals here too and an opportunity to feed some of the goats through a fence for a small price. I went on a hot day, so that could have impacted how many visitors there were that day but it was really just me and another family there. It doesn't take a long time to get through the entire area but there is a good variety of historical artifacts to see. They also have a small gift shop. While this place is free they do encourage guests to leave a donation, but over all this is a very low-cost, affordable activity.

The recent rains have transformed the charred rolling hillsides into a vibrant green color which shows us that, with time, the trees and vegetation will eventually rebound. Sadly, the historic Morison Ranch House, once occupied by Jim Morrison and his family in 1904, is gone forever and can never be replaced. What is left is a hole in the ground, an old rusted bathtub, and scraps of metal and nails. Fortunately, a number of other ranch artifacts, such as cisterns and corrals, still remain. They are a reminders of the past where, for 150 years, this land was used by ranchers for cattle grazing. There is a large network of over 20 different, well-maintained, trails that traverse the entire open space area. Some of the trails have quirky names like Suicide Trail and Dead Cow Trail. The trailheads are hidden throughout residential neighborhoods. This is one of those sites that require multiple visits, from different locations, in order to see it all. It was interesting to learn that this open space area also serves as a wildlife corridor connecting the Santa Susana Mountains with the Santa Monica Mountain ranges. This might explain the abundance of wildlife that I witnessed when I visited. I saw a number of deer, squirrels and beautifully colored birds everywhere. There are also interesting natural landmarks. The Baleen Wall is a geologic formation located along a cliff that resembles a Baleen Whale. You can view, and smell, the pools of Sulpher Springs. The terrain is versatile to suit your needs. If you are interested in cardio then you can climb to Simi Peak. If you are looking for a causal reflective walk, then you can stroll along the canyon floor that follows the creek and just appreciate the natural surroundings. It's a complete package and definitely worth a revisit.
