I went to Heavy Metal and was happy to get Spencer, the owner, as my tattoo artist ... until he started tattooing. He is extremely heavy-handed. I had to ask for a break several times. He broke the needle 3-4 times and replaced the needle without showing me that the new needle was sterile. Afterward, he bandaged my leg and told me not to take it off for a week. I went home and did as instructed. Three days later, a sore appeared right below the tattoo. It was raised and red and hurt. Then the place sank in. Nothing ever came out of it. I had my tattoo on November 11, 2023. By January 1st, I was in the hospital with 103 degree fever. The doctor said that I had two types of strep in my blood. This led to a 5 day stay in the hospital... 5 days of missed work. I also had a dermal done and it came out ... bar and gem. I will NEVER go back. I am trying to sue. read more

The absolute WORST tattoo I've ever gotten! Came in last Saturday and saw Spencer. It's not at all what it was supposed to be! He "tattooed" writing on my forearms from a picture I provided him. The letters are scribbled, there are extra lines in multiple spots, and none of the letters are consistent. It was hard to see how it looked because he put saniderm on it and you could still see some if the stencil. I now have to find an artist to cover it or laser it off. I was not impressed.. I already had a piercing and just wanted to change what I had. I got a hoop put in.. when I was in the hoop hung off my ear a lot, which I wasn't happy with, it looked like my ear could fit a small size hoop like I've had before. I was talking to some of the girls saying I was afraid to complain and tell him.. one said you should definitely tell them bc you're paying for it and it ain't cheap. When I said something to the piercer I was pretty much told I was out of luck, he didn't care. So looks like I'm stuck with a big hoop until I get back to my shop. It was a silver hoop with a little purple opal looking piece.. $40. Which isn't a lot if it was something I liked and would keep in. He got my money read more

Should've read the reviews first but I didn't, I just looked at the work they had posted on facebook, went in to get a tattoo from spencer and he's a scribble artist, tattoo looks scratched on, crooked, added lines, paid $160 + $20 tip. 180$ wasted and a terrible tattoo in a place everyone can see. Angela is a gem. She created something new and original that perfectly captured the vision I had in my mind. Plus, she was great about making sure I was doing alright throughout the tattooing process, explaining what was happening at each stage, etc. I drove from Charlotte to get this tattoo from her and it was absolutely worth it! read more

shop is very clean and organized, artist is willing to negotiate price and educates clients on how to take care of there new peircing or tattoo so it heals right. the fish tank adds a nice touch too and helps you relax. would definately recommend this shop to anyone. read more
