As it turns out, there was something weird about the original wiring of the house that prevented the newly-installed thermostats from sending their signals to the oil burner and we only realized it once the weather turned cold and the heating wasn't working. Had these guys come to service our HVAC system that had stopped working. Technician came took a…read morelook for a few minutes, and figured that the problem was the control board and charged us $400 plus the service call and then left. After a few weeks of waiting for the part we called to find out an update and were told that the part should be in soon but we should just replace the entire system for some insanely amount of money! I said we'd consider it if we can't get it fixed. When the part finally came in a different tech who wasn't familiar with the system returned to install it. Then we found that we still had the same problem and that things still weren't working properly. The tech couldn't figure out the problem and that he'd need to go back to the shop to look at a schematic so he charged us for the service call and installation and left never to be heard from again. When we called to follow-up we were told to replace the system or don't call them back becuase they don't want to service the system because it's too old. Yet another company who just wants to 'sell' new systems to people who have older units. Again, this wouldn't be a problem if the system was completely shot and non functioning. But these guys just didn't want to take the time to figure out the problem and fix it. Techs were nice enough but what's with these attitudes in the office? Needless to say, I was able to find someone else from a smaller local service that pinpointed the problem which turned out to be a pulled wire from a plug which mysteriously happened during the previous part installation and a bad relay. He ordered the parts and came back to install them within a week. less than $50! It was unbelievable that these guys wanted to charge me to replace my unit. It's still working a year later with no problems! Go figure! Customer beware! The name says it all!

The tech was unable to find the leak, but charged the system and got it working well again. This happened again this summer and again it was restored briefly to working order. When it happened a third time, the service department sent out an amazing tech named Thomas who was determined to solve the problem once and for all. Thomas worked diligently much of the day, found the original problem, but continued to test to prove that it was the only problem! I had paid for the previous calls, but when Thomas found the problem it was clear that it was an installation error and reported this back to his supervisor. Now comes the part that separates this company from so many others; when I sent a letter requesting they consider refunding my previous service charges, the management agreed and promptly send a check for those charges. This fair, customer first attitude is so rare in these times and has made me a great fan of CR Wolfe (and their amazing tech Thomas!) WELL DONE! Bon

I told the guy, my two general electricians have both seen and worked on my box without any issue or concern. Anytime told me, these electricians didn't know what they were talking about. I said I had other electricians coming to bid for the job. He asked why I need electricians if I have two. I told him they were both unavailable for the next few months due to larger projects and I wanted the work done sooner. Clearly, the two people I use earned big business jobs in the area but don't know what they are talking about. Anytime told me to take a picture of my box and sent it to him before he would do the work. He called me the next day to tell me, he would not do the work until I replaced my panel. He would do that for $4500 and ONLY then would consider the job. I told him that was great as he has not seen, worked on or taken apart the panel to see if there are actual issues. He was certain the ones was old, had issues and more than likely corrosions from its age. I had three electricians bid for the job today. All three looked at the panel and agreed it is old but it is in great condition, no corrosion and all the breakers work solid. They all were comfortable doing the work should I accept their bid. 5 electricians seem to think my panel is okay. Anytime needs me to replace it for 4500 before even considering my job request. What a joke.

I refuse to call Carrie Anne as there only so much condescending and smug I can tolerate with issues like this. Mike, the service supervisor told me noises and videos were okay that every HVAC technician I've shown to, including his own team, all said there is no way that was acceptable. Unless they hired new technicians I would be very aware of them. Julian wired my zone valves backwards, doesn't solder properly and confidently tells you issues are fixed when they are not. Dante tells you leaks aren't a thing and shortly after they become one, installs circulators wrong and also gives up when "his head hurts" from trying to fix a problem he can't solve, to then leave with the issue still present. Justin calls every technician and breakdowns on your stairwell. Ahmed tells you a leaking gasket is not the issue and changes something else only to have the gasket be an issue and have to come back two hours later. I would strongly suggest using anyone other than Carpenter and Smith.

I live in Rockland County. Ed assured me my location was no problem. I have a wood burning fireplace in the center of my home serving as a true hearth since the house was built in 1949. As with any other open fireplace, it provided direct radiant heat to anybody in font of it while drawing cold outside air into the house diminishing the net effectiveness so much that I doubt the thing helped to heat my house. I decided it was time to spend the money to upgrade to a wood burning fireplace insert to maintain the option of enjoying a nice fire and augment the cast iron baseboard hydronic natural gas-fired heating system we have. Ed came down, took measurements and discussed my options. The prices he quoted were about $2,000 more than I anticipated so I pursued other contractors. GUESS WHAT! The prices from the others were significantly higher than Orange County Mechanical's despite my seeking to do this during the summer. Ed graciously took me back. I decided on the unit to be installed, scheduled the work and gave Ed a deposit. Ed arrived on time on the agreed date bringing a solidly experienced team. They got the work done efficiently. BIG PLUS+ They made sure to clean up every last bit before leaving with my thanks. The unit enhanced the appearance of the fireplace so much I decided to cover the previous brick with granite from Barocco Granite. This thing is tremendously efficient while still providing plenty of enjoyable firelight. Fireplace inserts are a great choice for fireplaces.
