You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately feel like an outsider? I embrace those moments because locals are proud and protective so it's an opportunity to turn on the charm. I didn't get that feeling when we walked into a very busy Hector's! There was a large student group in the back room and the main dining was equally packed. We were seated and our server came over to take our drink order. NOTE: if you order a Dos Equis draft, specify what size you want otherwise, you'll get a beer larger than your head. I told him he should warn people and we had a good laugh. He was kind enough to bring me a dressed glass, pour my giant beer into it and brought me a fresh glass when I finished the first. I asked our server what he recommended and he quickly brought out a delicious, cheesy, grilled chicken breast with perfectly seasoned shrimp on top. My husband and I recently moved to Oklahoma City, Ok and on our days off, we explore the quaint little towns. Today we decided to visit the town of Woodward. We stopped in for lunch at Hector y Amigos cause we were in the mood for Mexican food and OMG we're so happy we did. We were greeted at the door by the owner, Hector. He gave us a friendly handshake and showed us to our table. The service was extremely friendly, helpful and felt like family. My husband's Margarita on the rocks was delicious but my piña colada was even better! Made from scratch and with real coconut flakes. We stopped here on a road trip from Texas, and we were somewhat surprised with this place (simply because Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food is a big deal in TX). The salsa and cheese dip (definitely not 'queso') weren't great, but the chips tasted fresh and my enchiladas with salsa verde were good. My fiancé said his tacos were ok. The owner took our tab at the end, and our food was quickly brought to us, which was very nice as we were on a road trip and didn't want to wait. I would give this place a 3.5/5 stars. read more

Fantastic! Stopped into Hectors's while in Woodward for business. The food was delicious and the portions were great! First we got the chips, queso and salsa. The queso is white, creamy and think. So so good! I would be fine just eating this for the meal. Haha. Next up I ordered the fajitas while substituting the rice and beans for grilled veggies. The fajitas were sizzling hot when they came out and the portions where huge! Usually I order the fajitas at any Mexican restaurant I go to and they always skimp out on the meat.
