Every time I've talked to someone on the phone or in person they are always SO mean and act like whatever we're talking about is a an absurd inconvenience. They seem like they don't have any compassion. I thought maybe they were having a bad day so I tried to be light hearted and nice... they were still so rude and acted very cold. My dog (Pomsky a little over a year old at the time) has issues with aggression primarily when he's sleeping and some resource guarding habits. This developed after having a cyst on his head. When we brought him in to get it looked at and for his shots, the doctor and assistant, knowing his issues, brought him into the back? I've always been in the room while they've given him shots and he's done amazingly. It's because of the pain he was in that he wasn't friendly. They reported the bite, understandably, but couldn't it have been avoided if they had just NOT taken a dog with aggression away from its owner? They told us we had a to do the "chill protocol" which basically means we brought him back the next day and gave him some melatonin and pain medicine before bringing him in. He was very distraught and confused, I understand why they wanted to do it, but it just left him a lot more scared of everything than he needed to be. They cleaned and drained the cyst as much as possible but they also created severe anxiety for him and he will probably hate every vet I take him too. I'm going to bring treats and see if we can make it positive again. I do NOT recommend coming here at all. Not to mention they charged me almost $1000 for the two visits?! We didn't even have the cyst removed (couldn't afford it). That's ridiculous. The cyst is back now and he just turned two as well so we are going to go get his shots done and schedule a surgery for removal. I will NEVER step foot in this place again.

Perfect example of why...I just went into Kryder to register my pets in St Joseph Count because the Humane Society website says you can to do it at ANY vet. Kryder followed this guidance and did it last year since my vet is in Michigan. The attendant looked at me like it was an imposition since I wasn't a customer. This IS exactly why I took my pets elsewhere...increasing prices, limited hours and waning customer service.

Upon checking out the vet and tech told me he would walk like he was drunk and that was normal. Friday, January 23, 2026 I called them because he was meowing randomly, not walking right and wasn't eating or drinking. The tech told me that was all normal. She stated he was at the highest point of the pain medication and it was like her or I was on the highest dose of Morphine. Saturday. January 24, 2026 I called them again because he wasn't breathing right and couldn't stand up at all. Spoke to the same tech and again she said it was normal as he was coming down from the pain medicine. She called him a sensitive sally and said she would put it in his chart that he should only receive 1/2 dose next time. She then told me he would be back to close to normal later that day. Roughly two hours later he died!! They were closed by that time. I left a voicemail thinking I would get a call back first thing Monday morning, nope. I had to call them. Dr. Horton was unaware of the issues I called about, took zero accountability and kept stating it wasn't their lack of action or actually listening it was his kidneys. I 100% believe Dr. Horton and her tech killed my cat through their lack of listening and action.

This makes me extremely unhappy do to my dog had to lay here and pass away this weekend with some major complications. This has taken and extreme hold onto my family seeing this as well as storing his body until Monday morning to take his body in for cremation. I do understand that things just randomly come but when you're running a business and you have a family emergency come up you should have some kind of vet tech there to be able to do the job that you set the appointment for. This was very unprofessional. A five minute job of euthanizing my boy turned into a couple more days of grief of watching my dog, passing the way he did. I used to do a lot of business with this place and I've never had an episode until Saturday and that really really breaks my heart because now my business will not be taken over there anymore not after that.

Dr…read more Rutherford is phenomenal, and the other ladies (vet assistant and front desk) are just as wonderful. They all very clearly love and adore animals. Dr. Rutherford is patient and knowledgeable, takes the time to get to know our family, as well as thoroughly examine and treat our pets. She took time to talk to our young sons when they had some questions about the kittens too. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. We love this place and absolutely recommend it as a great pet hospital.
