This place was incredible. I'm a saxophone player and was doing a performance at UW Oshkosh, when a screw came out of my instrument. Chris, the repair tech at the location in Appleton, sent me a replacement through a third party. He didn't have my saxophone so he was hoping that the one he sent would be the correct screw--sadly (100% not anyone's fault) it was not correct. But it did screw in far enough to hold the post in place for the duration of the concert, it was a huge deal for me. The next day I was directed by the good people at the Heid Music location in Oshkosh (a beautiful place, with welcoming, and highly competent staff) to take my instrument to the location in Appleton, where Chris was working. The brand of screw that was supposed to fit my instrument wasn't fitting. Chris, with me in the repair room with him, exhaustively went through all the possibilities until he stumbled on a Yamaha screw that fit in my Selmer saxophone. He was engaging, and generous, and clearly had a serious know-how about the instrument (mine) he was working on. I can't recommend Heid Music enough. The stores are beautiful, with knowledgeable and friendly staff. They have an exhaustive inventory: a good mix of affordable student instruments and high end professional instruments, infinite pianos and string instruments, walls and walls and shelves and shelves of music books. I have rented four instruments so far, all rent to own. When I ordered my current instrument online, and then called multiple times to check on it as we were relocating to a new city, not one staff person explained that there is a rent to rent option and a rent to own option. So I have wasted an entire school year for rent to rent, and they will not give me credit for the 10 months and charge me for the difference (is a small increase from rent to rent) and want me to start from the beginning on a rent to own contract for the SAME instrument. Absolutely atrocious service. Will definitely be looking for another option. read more

My daughter just had her first piano lessons at Heid Appleton, it's her second year of piano. She was nervous until we walked in the door. We were greeted immediately, walked to the studio, introduced to the instructor who had our books reserved for us and our registration ready. I adore Heid music! I've gone to the Appleton and Oshkosh locations and have had fantastic service in both places. I'd hedge my bets that the Green Bay store is just as good! The ONLY thing I'm not fond of at the Appleton store is the parking, can be a bit difficult at times. With that being said, I have been in twice to get my son's violin tuned (he's brand new on it and hasn't learned that part yet--and I don't want to ruin the thing!) We've gotten exceptional service from Ryan both times. Great sense of humor and a great demeanor with the kids. I would definitely recommend Heid to others. I also want to mention that they sponsor a fantastic summer concert series and really promote the local bands and the young up and coming musicians. LOVE LOVE LOVE Heid! read more

This is THEE best, longstanding music store in our town! Especially for classical musicians and teachers, like myself, staff is friendly and very knowledgable. I buy 99% of my studio/teaching music from them, and I even purchased (new) my Boston upright piano there. (Debbie is an award winning Steinway sales rep, and SO patient, if you're looking for any type of piano or keyboard purchase.) They've allowed me to bring in students to play in their piano gallery many times (with supervision), and they've been a long time supporter of the local teachers MTNA group. They rent studio space to many private instructors (drums, piano, guitar, many more), and I, too, enjoyed teaching piano there for 6+ years. They host composer workshops, they sponsor many concert events, and to say that they're the main supporter of music in this town, is quite an understatement! Heid's music is the best music place I have ever visited. They have 3 giant rooms full of different types of instruments( piano, percussion, & brass). Head music has an incredible amount of every type of instruments, sheet music, and store space. The employees help you out kindly and effectively. They even have a private, sound-proof room for people to try out instruments. To be honest, Heid's music deserves 10 stars, but I can only give 5. read more

Never will do business with again! Fist of all, I brung a guitar into heids music on collage avenue to get it appraised by "so called professionals". They then told me my guitar is 500 dollars new and they would pay me 100 dollars and then sell it for 250 dollars. My guitar had one small scratch a crossed the front and one chip on the side. I asked a guitar repair "specialist" named Bob Rewalt if he could could repair the scratch and chip in my guitar, so I then left my guitar with him to repair. A few days later he called me and said that my guitar was ready to be picked up, but when he talked he sounded unconfident about his work and knew how terrible my guitar looked after he got his hands on the guitar. When I went to pick up my guitar from heids music I was excited to see my guitar repaired. They wouldn't let me see the guitar before I paid them the money they should be ashamed to receive. I looked at every spec on the guitar and made sure I knew exactly what condition the guitar was in before I let them ambush my guitar with bad craftsmanship. My guitar is a dark cherry red and the paint they covered the chip with is a light pink color, like seriously all you have to do is mix a little black into the paint, it's called passing kindergarten. They didn't of do the scratches I wanted them to do, instead they thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and paint the top of the guitar with the pink color without my permission. Also they scratched the hell out of my guitar, there are TONS of scratches that weren't their before I gave it to them reckless people. Afterword I asked again how much my guitar is new and they said 185 dollars, like WTF is it worth it's ether you do or don't know. If I were you heids music I would get my shit together and treat customers items with respect! Thanks for wrecking my guitar heids music. read more
