Fantastic omelettes with a great choice of sides. I always appreciate fresh fruit as a side with my breakfast. A Denver omelette is my favorite and they make a good one. The breakfast sandwich is also terrific. The grilled biscuit is so good. If you're in Lake City don't skip this amazing little spot. P.S. We walked along the river to have breakfast here. The inside of the cafe is very cute (and air-conditioned) and we placed our order at the counter. My husband got a breakfast sandwich with sausage and I tried the yogurt with strawberry sauce. We both enjoyed our breakfasts and also tried iced lattes. We ate on the patio out front and they brought the food to us and checked to make sure everything was good. read more

I have traveled back and forth from the Twin Cities to Winona and whizzed past these fun coffee shops. Finally started stopping and am having a great time. Heidi's was rocking midday on a Thursday. I got an iced latte for the road and it was great. With so many freshly baked items, I also had to have a large sugar cookie. Loved the almond extract flavor. So soft and delicious. If you have time to stay, grab a table with plenty of indoor seating as well as a lovely porch and patio to enjoy the Lake Pepin sail boats. It was just so cute and cozy. Service was fast. The breakfast burrito and skillet were very tasty and large portions. We couldn't leave without trying some of the sweet treats as we noticed almost everyone was ordering them. Sorry, there's no Vegemite sandwiches here, folks! Menus are located up at the counter where you'll place your order, grab your table stand number, and wait for a table inside or outdoors on the patio to clear out. During my latest visit, my nephew chose a Belgian waffle to split with me. Topped with powdered sugar, chocolate chips, strawberries, and whipped cream, this gigantic Belgian expat is a guaranteed delicious hit! Muscles aren't the only good thing to come from Brussels, you know! My mother ordered her favorite go-to, the half order of a fluffy cheese and ham omelet. There was still more leftover than she could finish, but that's Minnesota portions for you! For beverages my mother enjoyed a caramel latte, and my Mint Bliss left me elated! My nephew gave high praise to his chocolate milk as well, declaring it even better than the ones I concoct for him. Clearly I'm lodging a dispute in this matter. We went to Heidi's for breakfast this morning and wow was it a nice place to eat. The servers were so nice- something we have found everywhere in this area- and even tho there was a line, it went fast. This is a order at the counter spot with them bringing the food to your table. The coffee and tea we ordered was great, and the breakfast was so good!! They gave both of us a LOT of eggs in our dish. I had the burrito- no meat please and my sister had the dairy free version of an egg bacon and hash browns breakfast. Very l tasty. The restaurant was clean, and regularly tidied up. I took my two nieces to Heidi's Huggamug for breakfast and we loved everything about this well run establishment. The service is great and the owner Heidi is always zipping about asking if you need anything and answered all our questions about the menu. She recommended the biscuits and gravy. I will be back with my Dad so he can have these.Definitely well seasoned with nice black peppery spices. The coffee and tea selection is extensive and also delicious. I like how you can order half an omelette or half an order of biscuits and gravy.. Hidi also has several fresh baked goods daily that are ready to go if you want to just grab a coffee and a cinnamon roll. Wonderful atmosphere casual and cozy. Beautiful setting on the lake with outdoor seating as well. I'll be back for lunch someday soon. read more

Food was hot and delicious! Portions were ample and even my toasted bagel was hot enough to melt butter which is unusual well done! They even offer egg whites in their egg dishes!!! My only thing I would change is to get staff to consistently close outside door behind them consistently when weather is cold to keep food warmer. Friendly staff great food! read more

Every town should have a place like this, and is lucky if it does. A great place to grab coffee, breakfast or a quick lunch alone or with friends and family. I don't often post reviews but this was so beyond good, I just had to post. I was in Lake City yesterday for work and some local teachers recommended Heidi's. I got the Chicken Bacon Ranch wrap and a slice of their coffee cake. Let me tell you, that wrap was among the best I have ever eaten. Delicious to the last bite. I ended up saving the coffee cake and bringing it home with me. I ate it this morning and let me tell you, I was dancing in my kitchen from the first bite. Heidi's is an absolute gem. Wide selection of coffees, teas, and specialty drinks, AMAZING food - the biscuits and gravy are amazing. And you cannot leave without some baked goods - our family favorites are the frosted cookies and anything with lemon! Clean, cozy dining room and outdoor seating available in the warmer months. I live in Phoenix AZ but my daughter, husband and grandson live in Lake City. Everytime I visit we go to Heidi's at least once a day for great coffee and delicious home made treats...muffins, desserts etc. I even bought some to take home to my husband they are so great!
