We made a reservation after giving the place a call a few hours beforehand and being advised it was a good idea. I didn't understand why, since we were almost the only people in there when we arrived--then, suddenly, ten minutes later it was packed! So the reservation was definitely a good idea. Despite how busy they were, our waiter was excellent and very attentive (I'm pretty sure his nickname was Shaq, he gave us his full first name but I completely blanked on it after a few pounders of Montucky's delicious brew). I had the pretzel bites and full-size Caesar salad, and it was more than enough food for me. My friends each got different items; the pierogies looked delicious (maybe it is obvious that I am a fan of appetizers; it's my favorite section of any restaurant menu). Some of us weren't able to finish everything, as the portions were much larger once you started on them than when first eye-balling them. Overall, I greatly enjoyed this visit. I was disappointed at first that my friends wanted to go somewhere other than where we'd been last time, but all concerns melted away once we got to our seats. Bethlehem Barrel & Drafthouse offers some cool atmosphere along with a good selection of drinks, both beer and liquor, and friendly service (thanks again, Shaq! And my apologies if I got your name wrong!).

First time I visited was for lunch. As soon as I saw the menu, I knew I needed to order the Wild Scotch Egg (difficult to find). I also had the half portion of Fish and Chips. The Wild Scotch Egg consisted of hard boiled egg and sausage, which was panko fried, sitting on Guinness fondue and crisp arugula, topped with Parmesan crisps. I really enjoyed this. The outer breading was light and satisfyingly crispy, while the egg and sausage interior was expertly cooked, tender and well seasoned. Cheesy fondue sauce was rich and creamy. Parmesan crisp was a nice, tasty touch. The beer battered Fish and Chips were also yummy. Fish was succulent, perfectly flaky and flavorful, while the Steak Fries were wonderfully crunchy, full of true potato taste. I knew I needed to return in order to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding, one of my all time favorite desserts. This was served warm, with Earl Grey tea date sponge cake, paired with sweet sticky toffee sauce and clotted cream. So deliciously mouthwatering and decadent! Service was good. The waiter was warm and easy to talk with. Everything came out in a timely manner. Prices were quite reasonable. I'm glad I came across this place to have my fill of some British classics!

I'd heard mixed reviews going in, but aside from the parking, there wasn't a single thing to complain about. I kicked things off with crispy chicken dumplings, perfectly fried and served with a sweet-and-salty soy yuzu sauce, along with rich, pillowy pumpkin gnocchi. For my entree, I went with the pasta of the day, fettuccine in a garlic-horseradish cream sauce with mushrooms, Swiss chard, and tender beef tips. My friend went with the savory short ribs, served alongside a golden Irish cheddar potato cake, roasted root vegetables, and crispy shallots. We wrapped things up with the salted caramel apple cheesecake and tiramisu for a sweet finish. Our server was attentive throughout our meal, and the hosts sent us off with a friendly farewell.

They seem to try their best to have a cider from PA on rotation. They have a vinyl night (as in LPs) and the place is super cozy on a corner where there is a lot of parking available. The most amazing thing to me was hearing the bartender casually talking to someone and mentioning that all of their beer was gluten-reduced. Okay, what's that all about? Asking for further details, they use an enzyme to effectively drop the gluten out of the beer. It can't be called gluten-free because it comes from a gluten source. However, the amount of gluten left in the beer seems to fall below the standards for gulten content making it effectively gluten-free. Yeah, no promises from me -- or them, I believe, on that matter. I just found it fascinating with seemingly zero downside to taste! Amazing!

Our first visit to Bonn was moderately busy, but the staff took the time to answer questions, was friendly and knowledgeable, and was very attentive. Our second visit was slammed busy with a line practically out the door. I honestly didn't notice a difference or drop in service. Absolute all-stars. Beer: this place is a goldmine of English pub styles with outstanding milds and bitters. We worked our way through the tap list and couldn't find a beer that wasn't great. Parking: located next to two large parking lots (pay). Well lit. Food: none. Fuel up before you go. Atmosphere: small, quaint, but comfortable and welcoming. On our first visit, another patron at the bar told us, "I envy you...I wish I could experience this place again for the first time." It's that kind of place. You just click with the vibe and it feels good. On both visits here, we didn't want to leave. Overall: I brewed my first beer 25 years ago. I'm a certified beer judge. I've lived all over the US and traveled extensively. Not everyone is going to instantly click with this place, or fall in love with their style. I did, and I have. Bonn Place is in my top 20 favorite breweries in the US. Give them a try.

The guys behind the bar were awesome. They were friendly, had a ton of information on the local scene and most importantly on their product. We chatted about their beer menu, upcoming events, their to go offering and life. Very down to earth guys and the bar talk amongst the patrons was fun and friendly. Beer wise I had a Main 2 Main pilsner which was average and a Coconut Silent Partner, which is - "Silent Partner, our chocolate stout which is rested on organic Ecuadorian Cacao Nibs, is then infused with coconut. The deep chocolate, roasted and caramel notes blend well with the slight sweetness of the added coconut." I thought the Coconut Silent Partner was above average and very well put together. Food truck's grub was decent and the building itself was clean... even the bathrooms. It's a big location, lots of seating and was family and pet friendly with some outside seating along the main road. I snagged a couple of four packs to go and was on my way. I would definitely return to visit.
