Constructed by the Moravians in 1758, George Washington visited the Sun Inn in 1782, and now you can too. The inn is rustic and bare, which gives it a clean and open look. Ashlee was our amazing server who knew every drink and beverage and helped guide us through our choices. She was kind, professional, and downright stellar. We shared an empanada accompanied by a creamy and slightly spicy sauce (like ranch dressing mixed with Tabasco). My girlfriend got the cheeseburger, which she loved, and I enjoyed their amazing crab cakes. I'm not sure how the cakes stayed together because it was all crab with just the lightest golden breading. Came here on our final night of vacation and I couldn't have picked a more perfect place. Loved the history of the place and checked it all out while we waited a few minutes for our table to be ready. I'd highly recommend this place if in the area! This review is for drinks only. We had checked out the Christmas City Spirits bottle shop, but they don't do tastings, and sent us here to try their spirits. The Tavern is in the same building but up a few flights of stairs. It's quaint but welcoming and feels like you want a tavern to feel. Scotty was our bartender and he was amazing. So friendly and he makes awesome drinks. My boyfriend ordered two of the Mountain Old-Fashioneds, which were fantastic. I ordered a flight of the Christmas City Spirits, trying the Cider House Blend, Cherry Bounce (a cherry infused liqueur), and the Cherry Blossom (a lighter version of the bounce). I loved both cherry liqueurs (not surprising, given my love of ginja), but was obviously disappointed that the Blossom was misleadingly named, as it is not cherry blossom. I still really enjoyed it though, as my second drink was the Cherry Blossom Margarita, which was light and refreshing. I recommend anyone in the area come here for drinks. Five stars might not be enough for this place. You feel like a lot of Inn is true relics of the past. Just visiting for the ambiance and decor is worth it. But then they have a great bartender, Scotty, who is just amazing. He makes you feel like an old friend and serves great drinks. If we didn't have an agenda for the day, I felt like we could've spent all day there. The drinks made were some of the best I've had. This place is now a must go every time I am in the Lehigh Valley. read more

Wonderful service from Scott and Destiny. Salt of the earth! The food was delicious and fresh ! Sweet historical building. Of course it's a treat to eat somewhere that George Washington and John Adams enjoyed. They also have a museum as spirits shop. it's nice to look around all the historical stuff. Five stars just for being a world heritage site. The halfway to Concord cocktail was very good, and the crab cake sandwich was too, especially on a cold rainy day. The bartender was quick and answered my questions, and one of the folks downstairs knew even more than the knowledgeable docent at the Moravian museum nearby. The ambiance is 'Sam Adams drank ale here, Martha Washington stayed here, and many of our revolutionary founders loved the place'. What more could you ask? read more

My husband and I were in the area. We passed by this place previously, but ate at other places. Today, we chose to give it a chance. It did not disappoint. Charming historic tavern. Loved the decor. I tried the chicken pot pie, and it was amazing. My husband got the Rebel burger and enjoyed it. The homemade seasoned pretzels tasted great. We sat at a cozy table by the window. Downstairs by the restrooms is a quaint private bar area with cool barstools. After our meal, we enjoyed a tasting of their liquors; Cherry Blossom was my favorite. We ordered a salted pretzel. It shouldn't be described as a pretzel with salt. It should be called salt with a little bit of pretzel because I could taste nothing but SALT. I could feel my blood pressure skyrocketing from the sodium. Had to scrape off all the salt in order to eat it but the dipping sauces were good once the salt was removed. My burger was great. I don't normally order greens with a burger, but the only other option was the hard tiny kiddy pretzels. You'd expect fries or something but the sides were a little odd. Alcoholic slushy. Always a fan of alcoholic slushies and this was another one of them - a wine slushy. We were surprised to be seated in the dining room for dinner on St Pat's weekend. Lots of bar noise but that's ok. The service was exceptional and they checked in often. We were a bit disappointed with the soft pretzel which was a little stale. The BLT sandwich and the salad were good but nothing wowed like like in the past. Joined the "Inn Crowd" to meet new people. They had an "Inn Crowd" event to mingle and enjoy light appetizer. When we arrived, there was a table of at least 8 people. No one even acknowledged us. I chose this venue to host a private party and it was absolutely wonderful! Bill was my point person who my coordinated the entire party with, and he was detail, oriented, kind, flexible, and made excellent suggestions to make the party even better. We had two servers at our event- Scotty and KJ. Both of them were professional, attentive, fun, and insured that the party ran as smoothly as possible. The food and drinks were absolutely phenomenal. We visited here on Saturday, November 12th with a reservation and party of three people. Obviously, if you have visited here, you know it is a very historic property with lots to take in, see and read lots of history about this great place. We were seated upstairs in the dining area, and it is beautiful. Personally, I had the Moore's Creek Wrap which was excellent. I wish there were other side choices rather than just pretzels or a side salad; however, the pretzels were good. My beverage, East India Iced Tea, was also absolutely excellent. Our service was a little off. There was just a lot of disorganization. Our server was a bit off. He often forget basic things like shareable plates for our appetizer, silverware, etc. We also had a second server introduce herself five minutes after the first server as if she was assigned to the table. We also had three instances when food runners brought food to our table that was not ours (including one where we were packed up ready to leave with our to-go containers on the table). It was just kind of odd. I would still come again, as service could have been a one off thing; however, I would hope as many errors would not happen the second time. read more

Honestly, just wow. My wife and I went for winter restaurant week. We both ordered the rocket salad(greens, mushrooms, Parmesan, fried onions), beef Wellington, and desert. It was phenomenal. Neither of us were expecting the salad to be as good as it was. We are not mushroom people and it surprised us. Very tasty, good mouth feel. The main course was special. The beef was good perfectly. The pastry had lamination and melted in my mouth. The Cabernet Sauvignon reduction was the perfect sauce to complement it. On the side, we're well cooked Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Both, very good. I had bread pudding for dessert. I've never had it before, and I would get it again. It was similar to a funnel cake, but less rich. The place is an old inn. Food was garbage. 100% not worth the price. We ordered the chicken pot pie croquettes. They were cold upon arrival. So we tried again for the steak sandwich served in au ju. The meat was the equivalent to a leather sole. The au ju was cold. So I stuck it out for one more item and ordered their lobster roll. BIG mistake! The mayonnaise base was so runny, the lobster meat was limp and sickly, and they failed to remove all shells so I bit down on a lobster shell nearly causing dental damage. The staff were somewhat polite, but completely unaware of how bad they messed up. The ambiance, overall is what takes the cake. Very historical, good information all about. I ordered grilled cheese and tomato soup both times. Today's plate was almost inedible. The tomato soup was returned. The sandwich had a single piece of cheese. I attended the pop up for People's Kitchen here so I'm reviewing this place. Not sure if that is correct. The Sun Inn is loaded with charm. Beautiful original design. I sat next to a window and had a great view for brunch. It definitely was a afresh start to my day. I ordered the breakfast Mac, which was fantastic! I'm not sure what kind of link sausage was in it, but I think that was my favorite part. Delicious melted cheese on top brought it up a notch. I also ordered the triple chocolate croissant French toast and I can still taste that heavenly creation. Good Lord, why are more people not doing this??? So hot and melty and rich and hearty. My husband and I were in Bethlehem for business for three days. On the first night we were walking around downtown, scoping out a place for dinner and just happened to come across the Sun Inn. It was delightful! A little museum on the street level and awesome restaurant upstairs! The ambiance was lovely, historic yet chill and absolutely just right for us. The food was delicious, the portions were ample without being ridiculously abundant, and the wait staff was accommodating and genuinely super nice! We loved it so much we returned the second AND third evening! It was the perfect retreat after a long day of work. I'm usually a teetotaler but I made an exception for a drink made with Christmas City Spirits, bottled downstairs. YUM. Next time we are in Bethlehem we are absolutely planning on dinner at the Tavern at Sun Inn. We loved its gracious dining without pretense. So good! Stopped by on a Saturday night for a drink and food at the beer garden outside. This was absolutely perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and on top of things. They explained their guidelines given COVID, cleaned all of tables in between use and the tables were spaced well apart outdoors. We ordered the Rebel burger and the Ben burger. Both burgers were perfect! We also had their special sangria which was apple and cinnamon- it was delicious! Both burgers were served with an arugula and cranberry salad which were refreshing. My boyfriend and I chose the Tavern at the Sun Inn for our Valentine's Day Dinner. I had been wanting to dine here for forever, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. We were seated in a nicely lit, quiet dining area with other patrons. The atmosphere was quite cozy and elegant. Our server was attentive and periodically checked in on us and filled our waters. We forgot that some places have a Valentine's Day menu that is your only option for the day. That was the case here, but it wasn't a problem. There were a few selections and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. We both got the crab cake entree, and started off with Gouda cream soup and a house salad. All good. We really enjoyed this place! Food was really good and comforting. The atmosphere is so unique as you are in the Sun Inn which was built in the 1700's, so much history surrounding you! Building is very historical and located on Main Street in Bethlehem. (Be sure to take a tour of the Sun Inn when they offer them during the day). They have a nice outdoor area. Inside is very quaint and intimate, dimly lit. There is also a bar area downstairs separate from the dinning. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Not sure if they take reservations. I stopped in here with a group of friends after an afternoon of shopping at Christkindlmarkt. We had actually tried to get into several other restaurants with no luck before giving this place a try. Within a few minutes of walking in, we were seated at a cozy table in the back of a dining room. It definitely had a rustic feel and despite most of the tables being full, it still felt very intimate. The menu here is very limited, adding to its rustic feel. The Man and I started off with the Tavern Day Soup (sausage with beans that day) and a frisee salad followed by a Rebel Burger for him and a Peasant Roll for me. Our companies chose a Rebel Burger, an Inn Keeper Meal, and the Goundie Soup. Some beers and ciders were ordered. General merriment ensued. It couldn't have been more than 10 minutes before our starters arrived. The Man really enjoyed the soup. It was both hearty and light at the same time. The sausage and broth had really great flavor. I loved the cranberries in the frisee salad, though I do wish the frisee was cut into slightly smaller pieces so they didn't hang so far off the plate. We shared a bit of the Inn Keeper Meal with our friends - absolutely loved the pickles and the apricots and brie were divine. We weren't quite finished with our appetizers when our main meals arrived. Since we had a very roomy table, it wasn't hard to shift things around a bit to fit everything. The Man tore right into his burger, barely coming up for air. Pretty sure he liked it! I enjoyed my Peasant Roll. The bread was lightly toasted, so the crispiness really contrasted the creamy lobster mixture, which there was a generous amount of. The lobster mixture itself didn't have a tremendous about of flavor. I honestly didn't taste the tarragon or Old Bay. Instead, I really tasted the lobster. On the second half of the roll, I threw in some of the spicy pickles and Oh. Em. Gee. It was like a whole different dynamic going on there. If you like a little spice, this is the way to go. It really made me wish I added them to my entire sandwich, but at least now I know for next time. While our meal was not particularly large, we all felt quite satisfied by the time we finished. So much so, actually, that none of us really felt we needed dessert. Our server brought our check over, and we were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable our total was.
