Honestly, I've only banked with one bank in my years here on Earth. So I suppose it's difficult…read morefor me to compare Republic Bank like I can a new restaurant to other restaurants. Still, I'll do my best to review it. This location of Republic Bank is where I opened my first and only checking account and subsequently banking account. I'm a minimalist when it comes to banking, but I can say I'm a fan of Republic. When I opened my accounts and every time I've gone in to the bank or through the drive through, I've had exemplary customer service. I'm not sure if they recognize me (I honestly don't even go in that much.), but they act like they do, which is nice. I mentioned I'm a minimalist when it comes to banking... as in I am pretty basic with my accounts and don't need a lot so to speak. I do enjoy the online banking options Republic offers. I can even link my credit card accounts so I can see everything involving my money in one spot when I log in. This location of Republic has a change counting machine inside, which is free for those who bank there. I like to save up my spare change before I go in to use it. I docked a star because it is a bank, and they have bank hours. That's not their fault, but it's not my fault I work at those times either. So if I do have the occasional check to deposit or business to take care of, I have to make sure I'm free on Saturday. Overall, I would recommend Republic as a bank. Your banking needs may be different than mine, but for me, it has been a nice fit and a locally run institution I trust.

My wife and I started our relationship with Republic Bank after applying to one of their 'low…read moreclosing cost' loans. Upon closing the loan they require you to open a checking account with them so they can draft your payments. They then pressure you, trying to make you close any other banking associations you have. We've been customers of PNC for nearly 20 years and didn't like this. They also threatened to hit us with huge fees, saying they had saved us thousands in closing costs, if we refinanced with another bank within two years. The banking centers are nice and clean, the people at their branches friendly, but this company has policies in place at higher levels that you need to fear. They neglect to inform consumers about what could be hurtful to their customers until the customer is already deeply invested with them. In early 2015, we decided to get away from Republic Bank once and for all and we initiated the refinance with another lender. I braced myself for the backlash from them. From our perspective, being involved with them feels like being in a controlling, abusive relationship. If you try to leave they are going to attempt to hurt you. When they received word that we were paying our loan off, without informing us they immedietly pulled our loan off of autopay (they were the ones who required autopay in the first place) and not knowing they'd pulled it off autopay, our payment wasn't drafted and we received a $89 late fee!!!! I called them and they refused to drop the fee until I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Next, upon completion of the refiance of our HELOC previously held by Republic Bank for around 28 months, we found that they hit us with an absurd $820 Early Termination Fee(ETF) for paying their loan off with someone else in LESS THAN FIVE YEARS! The five year ETF was apparently buried in the mountain of paperwork we'd signed but I assure you that neither my wife nor I would have EVER agreed to the loan had we been aware of this. PNC told us they have an ETF, but if we paid it off ONE DAY after making the loan it would only be a $360 fee and drops by $10 per month each month we keep the loan. Outrageous Republic Bank and SHAME ON YOU! Keep your family, friends and anyone you care about away from this bank. The folks at the branches are nice. The entity itself is evil and I'm going to make sure everyone I meet knows this. Rich Walker
