I ordered "for here" a small coffee (Copenhagen drip blend) and a Danish butterhorn bread pudding. There were 2 baristas. I spoke to them briefly - they were polite. I asked barista about this pastry, she said that it was popular and not sweet - this is what I wanted. I took my order to the table and was sitting on a bar stool, but baristas paid no attention to me. Taste of coffee was OK, but served in a carton cup (they don't have ceramic mugs). My pastry was so cold that the taste was ruined. I left the place disappointed.

Storefront isn't that big. I thought that I'd be intimidated because I have no knowledge of their products, but owner explained everything well. For example, labneh is a strained yogurt that's similar to cream cheese, but it isn't cream cheese. He also explained the difference between his ghee and desi ghee. Ghee had a nice scent and wasn't as pungent as Indian ghee. You can tell that the owner has a background in food science. They were also serving ice cream as well when I went in, so after we chatted, I decided to get Black Cherry. Mmm...natural, creamy, and no hint of that fakey-ness that normally accompanies anything Cherry-flavoured! 1 pint of pistachio ice cream was $10, larger pint was $20. So although it isn't cheap, it tastes waaay better - and less sweet - than the stuff that you get from the grocery store. I've tried Colombian and Cuban ones, both which had a hard pastry-like texture on the outside - like a pie shell almost. These ones were verrry soft. Almost like a cornbread or something but softer. The pluses were that the dough had a very nice corn flavour and the inside was pretty much solid cheese and we very much like cheese! The downsides were that...that was kind of it. A soggy exterior pastry and just cheese. The cheese was kind of in a rough paste and not of a melty type. This wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't good. I was super happy that I was able to go 1 and 1 with a friend because I definitely couldn't have made it through another one of those.

Anyway, after you walk through the main doors of Foody World, you'll find CoCo in the far right corner. It is rare for me to visit a brand new CoCo store. This store is the first one that I have ever visited where it's a part of a grocery store. I got here just before noon. There are grand opening specials. I had a friendly woman help me out with my order. This place, like most CoCo locations, accepts Vicinity points. I entered my phone number and all was great. I ordered a large mango slush. I typically don't add toppings to a slush. There's enough goodness going on in it! It was $4.50 before taxes. I paid $5.10 in total and waited patiently. Since I was the only customer there, my drink was ready faster than my putting my wallet in my purse. I was delighted! The woman asked if I needed a bag. Nah, I was good. I was going to drink it driving back home. She gave me a straw. I thanked her and left. It was my first time having a mango slush from CoCo. It's yummy. How come I never thought about getting one before? Ah, I know why. My favourite drink is the strawberry black tea. I order it so much that I have ignored the rest of the menu!
