It was a summer weekday and although I figured it might have additional traffic with kids on school break, I could tell just by turning into the parking lot that it wasn't crowded. What I did find a little strange was the constant signage and website warnings to book tickets online and not on-site. I guess that might have been an issue in the past but it certainly wasn't a problem the day I visited. I paid my entrance fee and walked the short distance back to the conservatory area. There's really good signage to let you know what species you're seeing, and their habits. What I didn't think of was all the butterfly remains I'd see on the grounds...a little disconcerting at first but ok, what did I expect! The sanctuary is easily accessible. It's very warm and humid, but quiet with the hum of the waterfall. It was great that it was so quiet. There were maybe 2 dozen species of butterflies, and many species of trees and plants. At the back end of the conservatory, there's a counter with large, informative photos naming all the different butterflies and insects, and their distinctive characteristics. There were also pupa hanging, and staff to answer any questions. There were a couple of seating areas. After I had rounded the sanctuary a couple of times, I decided to sit on one of the rocks near the waterfall and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. I then decided to check out the snack bar/cafe. The offerings included some lunch items and baked goods in addition to the usual beverage selections. One thing I encountered that is one of my pet peeves, is a place that charges full 13% HST on takeout food that's $4 or less. I brought it up to the staff and asked that they enlighten their management on how that works. This isn't some mom and pop corner store and they really should know better. Anyway the cafeteria is large and has plenty of seating space, plus a big patio area out in the back with acres of greenery to look at. There are also some swings and space for children to enjoy some fresh air outside. Last but not least, a visit to the gift shop is mandatory. They had tons and tons of preserved butterflies in frames. They also had a good selection of books and gift items. I liked that they were not the generic same old, same old you often see in other attractions' gift shops. I purchased a couple of things I will use as gifts in the future, and be happy that I won't have to worry they'll already have it or get it from someone else. I would love to revisit in future, and bring a friend with her young child. It's the absolute perfect place to spend a day or afternoon getting some light exercise, enjoying a slice of nature, and recharging your battery.

My initial communications with people here in person were great. Towards the endi, it was incredibly frustrating that they would send out LONG standard responses asking you to review everything, yet on at least 3 occasions, did not even respond to my questions. Though we got what we wanted, I was incredibly disappointed at communications with this team. I tried going in person, over the phone and emails to get the message across. Luckily getting invitations is not a long process and we got beautiful invitations. In retrospect, I would have gone elsewhere because this is the only vendor that was frustrating to deal with. I'd recommend you do your research to shop around more than we did. Depending on what you want, you may not really save this much at this place. We budgeted $5 and spend close to $9....that said, we loved them.

I am not a huge DIY person so I didn't want to put my own invitations together. While searching around, I realized that adding a rhinestone to the invitation added a lot more cost. I am so glad I happened upon Stephita while searching online. I order invitation #917 because it was exactly what I wanted and so much cheaper than any of the stores that I was looking at in the US. Also, I did not have to pay tax since the store is based in Canada! Working with Stephita was also wonderful. Everyone was so nice and patient with me as I went through multiple proofs after changing my mind about one thing or another. The invitations came ahead of time and they even included extra envelopes and RSVP cards. I would recommend them 100%!

We had come here for Afternoon Tea on a Friday at 12:00 pm for two people; it was $24.00 plus tax,…read moreper person. We each received our own pot of tea, which included unlimited loose leaf tea. Included in the meal were tea sandwiches, a variety of scones, and desserts. We loved all of the food items that were available for us to eat! The tea sandwiches were very fresh, with egg salad, cucumber and cream cheese, and turkey available. We were impressed with the presentation, along with the deliciousness of each piece. In regards to the scones, we were given a few different varieties, all of which were tasty, and fresh. I loved the cheese scone, along with the blueberry scone. The jam and cream on the side was the perfect touch to each scone, adding that 'wow' factor to each bite! We loved how soft the scones were, a definite plus when eating something that delicious. The desserts were all homemade, and quite immaculate; butter tarts, cookies, and brownies; very tasty! All of the food items were well-prepared, presented, and excellent! We were told that every item we had tried that day was homemade, which was a definite plus; we could tell that a lot of hard work was put into each food item that was prepared for us! In terms of the décor, we loved how simple, yet elegant, all of the items in the shop were. There were a lot of different items that I had never seen before, such as the stacked books with the words on the side, very creative! Customer service was top-notch; Maria was pleasant and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome during our entire stay at the café. I would highly-recommend the Afternoon Tea at this café; you will definitely get your money's worth, everything was top-notch, one of the best that I've ever been to!
