Ice cream heaven! If it's difficult to decide witch flavour to go for, they let you taste as many as you want. The pistachio and strawberries made me order twice. It's worth the trip alone.

My three flavors were sangria, banana and another local drink flavor

So we came to find the famous heladeria here but it has been closed for a while (no thanks to the Internet on that one!) this is awesome! Cool interior and crazy flavors like tamarind. A little icy but still fab. Banana is great. Several flavors w alcohol so watch out for kids. Peanut and tamarind also fab.

    The store!

Stopped in after doing some hiking in San Sebastián to get a sweet treat. This was a spot I'd…read moresaved as I'd seen it listed as one of the top 100 ice creams in the world for their corn flavor. We were the only group there but it did quickly fill up as we took a while to decide on what to get -- there are incredibly unique flavors that showcase the immense pride us Puerto Ricans have. I would never have expected arroz con gandules, arroz con salchicha, cilantrillo, or garlic as flavors! We were warned upon entry that it was one sample per person, which I can understand after seeing the breadth of options available. After my group of five carefully decided which samples to get (and share) I decided to go with the corn and avena (oatmeal). The corn was good but the avena was amazing. Another top that I didn't end up going with was the coquito. If I had more time in the area I honestly would have gone back to get a proper scoop of arroz con gandules because it was so perfectly executed. There are some small tables in the back with seats and there is one men's toilet as well as one women's. A little bit annoying for parking there since there is neighborhood construction and the streets are old/tight. I cannot find a complaint but I would suggest to this team to offer maybe a flight option since there are so many fun flavors that are worth trying in more than just teeny tiny bites. I'd also gladly pay $1 for two more samples or something similar. So happy I made it to Heladería Lares!

Small space but great selection. Be aware, you can only sample one flavor so be sure to try…read moremultiple things if you're in a group! Coquito and corn are amazing!! Parking was a bit of a challenge but visiting Lares to get here is worth the trip!
