I contacted this firm in regards to an ongoing WC claim. They were quick to respond to me and get a consultation scheduled immediately. Russell was the first person I had talked to he was very professional, polite, and understanding of my unique situation. While talking with him he listened diligently to what I had to say and was able to give me a plethora of useful information that I previously did not have and informed me of my rights regarding my situation. He went out of his way to look up information that was not provided to me by my claims adjuster. He looked up the MPN for the insurance provider and supplied me with a list of specialists within the network that fit my needs. After an on the job injury I was referred to Mr Helfmans law offices. I phoned in and was advised he would call me back. Days later still no contact I called in again and was told he would call me back. He did not. By chance I ran into another Attorney that knew of Mr Helfman. He told me to seek counsel elsewhere as Mr Helfman is infamous for not returning calls.Several calls later, still no luck even speaking to the man. In an already stressful situation, you don't need to deal with unprofessional people. I do not know if Mr Elfman is a good Lawyer, but I do know from personal experience and on others experience that he does not handle the business side of law in a professional manner. read more

If you or someone you know needs a work comp attorney, do not--I repeat, DO NOT--talk to Ben Helfman! He is a liar and he will screw you over with his lies! The first time I talked to him was a little over a year ago, and he seemed like a really honest and caring person. He gave me some advise and told me that he didn't think I needed to hire an attorney at that point. However, he said that he was keeping all my stuff on file and that I could call him anytime that work comp did something I wasn't sure about and he would advise me or tell me when I needed to hire him. So, I called him four or five times over the past year and he always gave me some advice and then told me that I wasn't at the point where I needed an attorney. Well, that was bullshit! I've found out that I should have had an attorney THE WHOLE TIME. And, if I'd had an attorney, they would have been able to help me out when the county decided to send me to the QME and they would have been able to knowledgeably advise me on which doctor to see (which, btw, Helfman just told me I had to go and didn't say anything about being able to help me choose which doctor off the list they gave me). Now, because I didn't have an attorney and I have been to the QME, I am stuck with it. The QME Report is full of lies as well (no other explanation for how a doctor that saw me once, for all of twenty-five minutes, came up with completely different results than the seven or eight other doctors I've seen over the past year and a half). And because of what the (total BS) QME report says, work comp has completely screwed me over. Even with an attorney, there's nothing that can really be done about it. What a stroke of luck to have found Ben Helfman as my workman's comp Attorney. After a life changing accident at my place of employment I was at loss as to who to turn to for help. My Doctor wanted to send me to specialists but said that it was Workman's comp responsibility to pay for my care and for what ever it took to get me on my feet. My health insurance also said that this was a workman's comp case and not their responsibility.
