After being diagnosed with abnormal cells after a pap smear and postmenopausal bleeding, I insisted…read morethat my primary care doctor find a OBGYN doctor immediately as I am proactive when it comes to my health. I was fortunate to get an appointment with doctor Robert K, Gildersleeve in Hebron, a few days later. I must share that I was immediately impressed with the welcoming care I received from the doctor's office staff and medical assistants and even more impressed when I met Dr. Gildersleeve, whose bedside manner was beyond compare. Dr. Gildersleeve gently handled my anxiety of my worst case scenario thoughts of having cervical cancer. He assured me that we would properly address my concerns. Because of my anxiety during an internal exam, Dr. Gildersleeve sent me to his Windham office a few days later for an internal scanning of my uterus. Mary, the radiologist was kind, gentle and reassuring, as she performed the procedure. Most surprising was the call I received from Dr. Gildersleeve hours after the procedure to see how I was doing. A few weeks later, I had minor surgery at Windham Hospital that resulted in the successful removal of a fibroid that was pressed against my uterus that was causing the bleeding. I was impressed with the follow-up visit with Dr. Gildersleeve as well. The bottom line is that when I first encountered this medical dilemma, I just knew I was going to Yale to have this matter addressed. However today, I am so glad that I stumbled upon Dr. Gildersleeve's Mansfield OBGYN offices in Hebron and Mansfield whom I believe provided me with medical care that was just as good, in fact, even better care that I would have received at Yale. I highly recommend Dr. Gildersleeve and the Mansfield OBGYN, Hebron/Mansfield to address your feminine medical issues. The overall bedside manner of Dr. Gildersleeve and staff is phenomenal and I assure you, you will not be disappointed. Sincerely Submitted, Laura Lillian Best Norwich, CT

I'm putting this every place I can. avoid this place. I know having state insurance sucks but find…read moresomewhere else that takes it, I should have. After weeks of leg swelling, three days of severe shortness of breath, and one morning of chest pain, I brought myself to the hospital. Backus hospital. You're asking yourself, why did I wait so long, with another life inside of me. I didn't. I asked my doctor why my legs were so swollen, but she was a different doctor than I'd seen. In fact, at obgyn services, I never saw the same doctor twice until I gave birth. Since the lady didn't know me at all, she said "they don't look swollen to me" and I didn't advocate for myself because she was so quick to dismiss me. When my blood pressure went from its normal 90/60 to 120/70, they said it wasn't high. I said it was high for me and they said "I guess a little" and still I didn't press the issue. I called them with my shortness of breath and they said take a Benadryl and that it was either allergies or the wildfires across the country. I had to sleep sitting up. I went to the hospital July 28th 2021 when chest pain woke me up. I felt dumb. I felt like I was being dramatic. I took a bath before I went to see how I felt after. I went only because it wasn't only my life potentially in jeopardy. I got there and my bp was something like 173/99. My pulse was in the 40s. I had severe preeclampsia and heart failure. They induced me that day. The magnesium made me feel better but after the baby was born they took me off of it. My shortness of breath returned. I told a nurse and she said "oh do you have asthma?" .. as though the past however many days of heart failure/preeclampsia hadn't even happened. They gave me a breathing treatment and that's when I lost my mind. I freaked out. I could have made the right diagnosis and I have no degree. They said my bp of 140/80 was high but not so high they would treat it. They gave me a diuretic and discharged me. Guess who was back the very next day, then transferred to Hartford, still in heart failure???? Guess who still has a low ejection fraction? This guy. Also the ptsd from the entire situation has been debilitating. Also, I met a girl in my neighborhood who had a baby the same week with the same dismissive doctor. She had severe preeclampsia too. My point is do better. People should have ONE doctor. How the hell is a new person supposed to spot a difference in a person like excessive weight gain??? Don't dismiss people's concerns. You went to medical school for however long but I've lived in this body my whole life. A mother with high blood pressure should be a concern to you. I know you need the room and I have state insurance but discharging someone in heart failure does do harm... Also I felt like only the nurses and Dr. Briggs cared about my sexual assault history. Be sensitive to that. Or you ARE DOING HARM. I'm pretty sure you promised not to. Do some more research into preeclampsia and peri partum cardiomyopathy for the good of your patients. Please.

I arrived to find the Dr wasn't there, she'd given birth two days prior. No call to me cancelling the appointment. No real apology from the staff. They claimed they'd called to tell me, but I received no call or message. Ummm, if that were the case, would I have shown up for the appointment? Note on the wall of the office said, $50 change for appointments cancelled within 24 hrs. I asked for my $50. Office staff said, "Sorry, it doesn't work that way. " They wanted to rebook me for October. Nah, I'll find an office that respects it's customers..

The staff is always laughing and very productive - I get scheduled asap and when i arrive I barely have time to chose a magazine and sit down before my name is called. I see Dr. Kara Keaton - She is wonderful. Straightforward, just the right amount of concern, easygoing and empathetic. She performed a coposcopy/ cervical biopsy on me earlier this year and during the actual procedure we were joking and laughing -in between her preparing me for a pinch here and there. And I didn't have any of the negative symptoms one could expect after the procedure. Also, Dr. Keaton gives the most unobtrusive pap smear ever. EVER. It's mind-boggling. If you have a weirdly positioned cervix or you've really felt your pap in the past - book an appointment. I can't stress enough how I walk out of that office dazed from how euphemistic the whole experience was.

I have been a patient at this practice for a few years and have been to 3 of their offices…read more Unfortunately, I was running late to my appointment due to a bad accident on the highway early this morning. I called first thing and was told they allow a 15 minute late period. I arrived exactly 15 minutes late only to be turned away from my appointment because I had reached the "15 minute mark." So technically, they don't give you a 15 minute grace period. It's actually 14 mins and 59 seconds. So if I arrived at 8:24 they would have seen me. Although, I'm not sure how much difference 1 minute would have made, especially when they routinely run late and don't have the courtesy to let patients know. And are we allowed to cancel because they run late? Nope! They clearly don't respect patients time. They also see patients every 10 minutes. Perhaps giving more time for appointments would prevent consistently running late. I'm not sure how doctors can provide the best care possible if they're given such a short amount of time. I'm sure it is set up like this to capitalize the most amount of money as possible. I would like to see their policy in writing, but couldn't find it online. Having worked in healthcare for 10+ years, I have never experienced this and have also shown grace to my patients who run late through no fault of their own if it is not a repeated offense. The receptionists are rude and don't care. I have gone to appointments to find them eating at the desk. And when you call to speak to someone it sounds like it's a call center and your not speaking to a person at the actual office, so you never know who you're talking to. The healthcare system sucks and the people who work here suck too and your "policy" is bullshit. If you've read this far, then do yourself a favor and find another office.
