First of all I set up an annual exam but my provider only did a pap without the exam which seemed weird. I would have said something but I was too thrown off by the intense lecture she gave me about my birth control. Apparently she didn't approve of it and felt it was dangerous at my age which I think more recent studies have debunked. She told me to go off it immediately. I also got a weird religious vibe which isn't what I want at all from my doctors. The tech who took my vitals said "babies are a blessing" and was wearing a gold cross. It looks like several providers went to a private Catholic school in the area. I was also informed they did "aesthetics" which included vaginal steaming and cosmetic procedures which seems strange for an Ob-Gyn. I was very rattled by this whole experience and left feeling upset and confused. I will never go back to this place!

I am typically a fan of Lifespan partners, but when my Doc up and left, I followed her here. It is a totally different experience. This office is not awkward and because of its location there are a lot less people that come here as opposed to the other sites. The staff is kind, courteous and confidential, which is the way it SHOULD be everywhere. The physician that I see, takes an abundance of notes and always knows me by name, and still to this day asks about my now 5 year old daughter. I'd recommend anyone to this practice, especially first time moms, they are so great, kind and caring.

Upon having been to Planned parenthood, Mother of Hope of Providence (for an un-official free ultra-sound) and Kent Hospital as well as waiting for my insurance to kick in (Neighborhood Health- which was just approved after waiting 8 weeks)- She continued to ridicule me in regards to being 13 weeks pregnant and not having been seen by an OBGYN yet- after trying to get an appointment sooner than later (I'm starting a new nursing job and it's not a good look to call out on the 5th day of orientation for a doctors appointment). I told her my situation and my attempts to schedule an appointment a month ago there, when I was told I needed to provide 1500 dollars up front without proof health insurance. She proceeded to insist that I did not do that, as if I was some sort of liar- so I told her I may have been mistaken and called the wrong office (which may be the case, Its hard to remember things when your nauseas and vomiting 24/7 and no one seems to have any answers). She continued to ask me where I wanted to deliver and I told her that I wasn't sure yet because I wanted to speak to a doctor in regards to what my birthing options are. Then she asked me if I wanted to deliver at Kent (they aren't affiliated with Care New England and don't work with Kent Hospital)- and again, I said I wasn't sure because I'm new at this and I need to speak to a professional that could provide me with some information- I'm hoping to deliver naturally (preferably with a midwife or doula) although I am understanding to the fact that I might not have those options this far along. I explained all this to her and she continued to be very short tempered and unhelpful and made me feel awful about my pre-natal care. I think its really important to have friendly, compassionate and understanding staff in regards to pregnant woman- its a special time in someones life- and speaking to someone with an attitude like hers, just made my experience a little less than great. Its unfortunate that one rude employee (especially someone that works directly with the public) can hinder the entire healthcare team- I hope other pregnant woman don't have to experience the rude secretary either because the amount of stress she caused me could probably send someone into pre-term labor.

We ended up liking her so much that we never reverted! She has been great and listening and recommending care for our (more difficult than expected) pregnancy. The office had one snafu where they scheduled me for an appointment and then - without notifying me - cancelled the appointment (I guess one of the midwives needed unexpected knee surgery?), but I was really impressed at how the office rallied to get me the care I needed within 24 hours. Definitely glad I found this practice!

Unfortunately that's not the service I received…read more The reason I searched for a gynecologist, was because I had two serious UTIs and had two rounds of antibiotics a month apart. A developed what I thought was a yeast infection, my symptoms were a very sore rash, like a diaper rash on my vulva, and swollen painful lymph nodes in my groin. I took 3 day monistat and while the swelling in my lymph nodes went down, the rash persisted. I had no smell and no discharge. Just the rash. I tried plain yogurt on a tampon. Probiotics. Cut sugar grains and alcohol from my diet. Zinc oxide. Saltwater sitz baths. Nothing worked beyond temporary relief. I started developing unsightly varicose veins on my vulva as well as Angiokeratoma of Fordyce, which are flat black spots of pigmentation on the vulva. Obviously this was very concerning. I also developed "lightening crotch" which is when the pelvic floor randomly spasms and it feels like a sharp stabbing pain in the vagina/anus area. The staff when I scheduled an appointment were very nice and sympathetic. And the receptionist didn't bat an eye when I said I was a trans man. They were also lovely when I showed up for the appointment. However the wait times to see the Dr. were extremely long, I had scheduled the appointment with an hour and 15 minutes to get back to work. I wasn't seen for about 45 minutes past my appointment time, which made me pretty anxious, and worried about getting back to work. The Dr. Seemed to be in a mad rush. The exam was over so fast my head was spinning. He just said something about me looking "good" and prescribed me a single pill dose of antifungal medication as well as a topical steroid cream Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate. I completely forgot all my questions I was going to ask about the new bulgy viens, black spots and pelvic floor spasms. As well as my concerns about the swollen lymph nodes because of how fast he was going and how worried I was about being late getting back to work. It's been a couple weeks. I never heard back with the results of the tests. And my rash is as bad as ever. I think the cream is making it even worse. I'm so raw it hurts to sit and I'm not sure what to do. It's been over a month that I've had this. I can't have sex. I'm very upset as anyone would be and feeling very dejected if even the gynecologist can't give me answers. To top it off, he seemed pretty ignorant about trans people and asked me unnecessary questions in my opinion about my transition. I just brushed it off, but like, you're a Doctor. I can't be the first trans patient he's ever had. Let's focus on the reason why I'm in office, not my trans status.

He dismissed every concern I brought up, gave no guidance on anything, and didn't even know about the surgery I had just had because his staff never passed along the info. My visit notes literally say "No discussion recorded." Sounds about right. This place is careless, unprofessional, and downright unsafe.
