Don't waste your time or your money going to the business unless you want your clothes destroyed. My wife and I dropped off a brand new dress, straight off the rack on Monday, December 5 and when my wife went to pick it up today, it was full of oil stains. When we brought it up to the owner, he claimed that the stains were there when we gave it to him, which pictures of the dress prior to dropping it off verify otherwise. We went in hoping to support a minority-owned business and got utterly screwed over (this dress was needed to attend a work event) without an apology or an attempt to make things right. They did a great job and turn around was really quick but... pricewise.. this is not where I will take every item. $130 to bring a bridesmaids dress in two inches and 2 inches off the bottom. I could have done this myself if I had a sewing machine. The quality of these alterations were great and the one week turn around was amazing and impressive but I did not need a rush so I hope I was not charged one and this was the reason for the rush. read more

I was recently referred to this business to hem some suit pants on VERY short notice; They did a professional job and got my pants to me by the next day. I have since taken several other items including a suit jacket with a ripped pocket to them for repair. The jacket looks great. Vinod and his team are miracle workers. Take whatever misfit piece of clothing you have over there as soon as you have the chance. While not as 'cheap' as a seamstress working outta their house might be, they're by no means expensive and they do quality, quick work. They'll turn around a hemmed and tapered pair of slacks in 24 hrs without a rush fee added. Plus they'll take your measurements as quick as a hummingbird and with as much accuracy (yeah that's a thing...I mean hummingbirds have to be very accurate right?! I would presume) that their years of experience being. They've been in the Tallahassee area over 6 years (since they've been in Park Ave location that long) and I'm sure will be around for a lot longer. read more

Unfortunately, in Panama City we don't have any tailors, just seamstresses. That's one thing when you're repairing a button, but sometimes you need an honest to god TAILOR. Well folks, Helga's is the real deal. Vinod at the Park Avenue location is a master of his craft. He understands fit and is used to clothing professional men and women and all others too. Helga's is fast and fairly affordable given the quality of the work. He will work with you and has never failed to do a top-notch job. They also offer services I have trouble finding elsewhere (lots of "tailoring" services can't get beyond hemmed pants and sleeve adjustments). If he can't do it, it probably isn't worth getting done. I can't recommend Helga's enough. Tallahassee is lucky to have a top-notch outfit like this outfitting the townspeople. Needed a piece altered but because of the design it was best that it wasn't I didn't catch the guys name but he was up front and honest I will definitely be back. I also had a hole in a skirt sewn up you couldn't tell where he had done it. read more

Vinod, the tailor at the Park Ave. location, is excellent. While not the cheapest in town, Vinod is definitely the best "tailor" for men's clothing I've found (been here 10+ years). I had him remake 4 traditional suits into slimmer, more modern fits. I took him a newer suit that I liked the fit of and now all 4 of my older ones fit the same. And, he turned all of them around in just under a week. I've used Vinod for a couple years and I will continue to for any of my tailoring or clothing repair needs. Check him out. My husband referred me to Sam because my husband said Sam always does a great job hemming his dress pants. My husband is very particular, so I knew Sam must do really great work. I contacted Sam for my daughter's prom dress. It needed a little work up top and the bottom needed to be cut off since it was too long. He repaired both the top and bottom perfectly! First, the fact that he chooses to charge some people in advance and others not seems off to me. He charged my husband to pay first and me after. Who would ask a customer to pay in advance before seeing the finished work? I've never been to any tailor who's done that unless they've had a lot of customers who have refused to pay for bad work maybe? Secondly, he marks the area with a mark of soap. Doesn't seem like that would hold up but whatever. I took a dress to get taken in and when I came back, it looked like nothing had been taken in at all. Before coming back for my dress, I had been told by a couple of people of their bad experiences with the same person so I figured I would just pay for the dress ($26 mind you for nothing) and take it somewhere else. I guess this offended him greatly because he proceeds to yell and say no one else will do a good job like him and throw in my face all of his "awards". Does this sound like a normal experience one would expect as a customer? Long story short, I will NEVER do business with them again. As for my husband who took two slacks to get hemmed, I believe the genius idea of the soap mark wore off because his pants turned out way too short and so we ended up paying twice to fix his mistake. Two slacks getting hemmed also cost us $22. You decide if this is the place you want to go but I believe you can find WAY better customer service and service overall at a much better price than here. read more

I took my mother's wedding dress to get altered for my wedding. The dress was originally hand stitched by my grandmother 30 years ago. The result was INCREDIBLE! Better than I could have ever imagined. They knew exactly what to do in order to cover up the alterations. I went far before the date I needed, thinking it would take forever to take care of the changes, but everything was done in a week. I will definitely be returning for any alteration needs. read more

I was not happy with the service experience or the workmanship here. I took 2 dresses to be taken in. I had lost some weight and these were both high quality dresses, with plenty of fabric to work with. First the man who evaluated what to do during the fitting, must have spent less than 20 seconds looking at me in each dress and marking them up. It felt to me like he was not even interested in doing the job. Then when i picked the dresses up, i discovered that yes the seams had been taken in, but all the extra fabric was left so that the seams were now extremely wide. The dresses no longer had a nice fit since when i put them on all you could see was how bulgy the seams were. They did not even cut off the extra fabric! I could have done a nicer job myself with my own sewing machine. I will never go back. read more
