BEWARE OF HELLER GAS!!! This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. This is my only negative review. They came to fill my propane tank Saturday. Shortly after, my husband went outside and heard a loud hissing noise- he found that the tank was leaking where they had just filled. And it was not a small leak- it was LOUD. It took over 6 hours for them to send someone out to fix their mistake after placing an emergency call. Subsequent follow up calls went for hours unanswered. The leak was so intense that fumes were coming through our windows. We had no heat and had to shut down our wood stove. We almost called the fire department because our house could have blown up. Heller gas refused to credit the amount of money lost for the propane that leaked from the tank as a result of their own negligence. Their service, emergency response and concern for their customers is an absolute disgrace. They were given a chance to make it right and they chose not to. Consider switching from heller gas because they don't care about their customers and quite frankly, don't deserve anyone's business. We should have cancelled them after a gas leak at our previous home. After calling for emergency service, the technician proceeded to fill the tank and leave without fixing the leak! They deserve zero stars. I was in charge of my sisters estate, her husband passed the year before her. Both my sister and brother in law insisted and had proof they owned their tank that was buried on their property in Fishing Creek Twp. I called Hellers to cancel their service because they both had passed away but could not find the receipt. Heller's stated they owned the tank. I asked them for proof and they said they would show proof when they removed the tank. Keep in mind it was February and buried in the ground. After several conversations/arguments they said "it's in the ground?" but still insisted it was their tank. The date they said came and went without the removal of the tank. Customer service eventually called and said it was not their tank and would send me a letter stating this. I receieved the letter and then two months later they came onto the property and put a lock on the tank so no other company could add fuel. I called and they said "oh sorry anf would be out in a few weeks". I insisted they come within a few days and did. They also have the highest prices. When I called around last shopping for propane for my home they are the highest. Modern Gas $1.79 per gallon and Hell Gas $2.99 per gallon. read more

After being with Hellers for 20+ years, beginning with my late grandfather using Back Mountain Bottled Gas. Now, moving years ahead of his initial start of service with Back Mtn/Heller's Gas, they have been nothing short of astounding in every aspect. After his passing, I advised my grandmother to convert from dirty, inefficient, and costly heating oil to an LP (propane) powered furnace. Subsequent to the installation of this new furnace, I was able to get a substantially lowered PPG (price per gallon) as they price relative to usage. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the gentleman at Heller's name that assisted me. Albeit, it would be unfair to limit my gratitude to only this individual as every single employee I've spoken with have exhibited first-class help, sympathy for my grandmother, and delivery. Transporting gas on multiple occasions WELL past other companies usual 5-6pm driver shift ends. My apologies for this interminable review, I could type pages upon pages of adoration about this terrific supplier in our area. I recommend this company to any and all propane users to get the best price and exemplary customer service experience. NO OTHER COMPANY COMPARES!!! read more

My parents died in 2012 and had apparently been Back Mountain Bottled Gas (aka: Heller's Gas) customers since 2009. As an executor of their estate, I called Back Mountain Bottled Gas in July, 2012 to fill the propane tank at the residence and to ensure no further deliveries would occur. They subsequently filled the tank and charged $4.40/Gal. Though I had never used propane myself, I thought this price was high but didn't question it, figuring it would be my last dealing with Back Mountain Bottled Gas. During July, 2013 the home was sold and closing scheduled for August. By chance, I happened to notice an invoice near the propane tank and was surprised to learn that Back Mountain Bottled Gas had "topped off" the already half-filled propane tank unsolicited and charged $5.63/Gal. for 39.9 gallons. I contacted "Kevin" at Back Mountain Bottled Gas and asked why they did this because I had notified them in July, 2012. He related, in essence, that my personal situation was irrelevant, that my mother had signed a contract requiring at least yearly delivery, and that their position was that I was still responsible to pay. His "suggestion" was for me to not notify the buyers and he would charge them for it the next time the tank was filled. I said no. It is noteworthy that at the time the propane tank was filled, the FOR SALE sign concerning the home was visible from both directions on the street. For my own knowledge, I immediately contacted another propane supplier and was quoted $2.499/Gal, which was a major gap from the $5.63/Gal Back Mountain Bottled Gas had charged. The attorney assisting me with the estate advised that even though I would likely make my case if I contested this situation, when considering my personal situation as a whole, I should pay their bill regardless of their business practices and be done with them, which is what I decided to do. I found Back Mountain Bottled Gas to be unethical, heartless, and would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Back mountain gas ripped me off on a bill of 700 dollars while i was away on a total of of 40 lbs of propane i could have filled that at the gas station for 50 bucks. Cant believe it happened but i spoke to a couple of my neighbors/ friends and they had similar things happen. switched providers and havn't had a single problem with over priced delivery's and hidden fees and charges. read more

"Store is under new management" dated 10-31-2014... These people are crooks. I have a low usage account. I had a neighbor give me a full tank for free, so I took it. BK MT's response was to call me to ask why I had disconnected their tank. Since I have a "do not deliver unless called" tag on my account, I asked what they were doing on the property. The Heller's "regional Mgr" called next to explain they were "required" to check their equipment once a year. I ordered a delivery that arrived Nov.6, 2014. The bill came Nov.11 -- $4.59/gal. I called several other vendors, ALL were more than a dollar cheaper/gal. I can only conclude that after being a customer for 10 YEARS, they decided to screw me because I accepted a gift from my neighbor. Great way to do business. read more
