We had a very large elm tree die this past winter. I got quotes from four reputable companies, and Hellmann's responded first and was the lowest, with the others 5 - 23 % higher. I selected Hellmann's on May 6, and they took down the tree on May 15 as scheduled. I was very impressed by how efficiently Ray and his crew worked. They were extremely safety conscious and careful to not damage an adjacent tree and the deck that they were working beside. After part of our large maple tree came down during the April storm, we knew it was time to have it removed. Tree removal can be incredibly expensive, so we made sure to get several quotes. Ray stood out right away--he was quick to respond and by far the most reasonably priced. Ray and his team were fast, efficient, and thorough with the cleanup. I've never been so excited about tree removal. Truly, having no previous experience with this type of business, I can't imagine there's a better option out there. Sadly, we had to remove 4 huge spruce trees recently to a regional blight. Ray came out to quickly to check it out and quoted the best price of the FOUR other companies we researched. As soon as the weather broke, his team was on site, and removed the trees with relative ease. They also cleaned the entire area with great detail and even cut down some of the wood for use in our fire pit. I've been dealing with a lot of not so great home service providers lately, so it was a breath of fresh air to have such prompt, friendly and quick service. I called and within a few hours they called back and gave me the quote on a pretty tall, but skinny tree (forgive me because I have no clue what the official title of the tree was called). Without stump removal, it was $350. Not cheap, but not overly expensive either. Once he gave me the estimate, we were able to schedule him to come the next day. Ray, who is the owner, gave me a call before he came... like he said he would. Came to the house... exactly when he said he would, then charged me exactly what he quoted me. Seriously, people are so shady, this was nice to get such great service. Highly recommended for all your tree cutting desires! I contacted Ray in mid February 2018 so I could have 3 trees dropped on the property BEFORE all the new spring growth. Ray showed up quickly and gave me a quote of $650. He was working one job and said he'd be able to do the work during the first week of April. He actually showed up a week early during a rainy day. Good news right? Nope. He never checked in with me upon arrival and the next thing I hear is a chainsaw. I look out my back door and see two guys cutting down a tree, problem is it's the wrong tree! I did approach Ray and told him so but the tree was too far gone and he dropped it. No problem. I can accept that. I then showed Ray the trees for the second time. He said we're going to come back because of rain. Understood. As of today, April 28th I never heard from Ray again. Now looking for a new service. read more

Doesn't return calls or emails and is unprofessional. He removed the tree but was late grinding the stump, which I communicated from the beginning I needed done in order to lay a foundation for my retaining wall. Not only was he late and didn't communicate when he could come back, he didn't grind it deep enough so we had to pay extra for someone else to come out and finish the job. Below are the email communications with dates and times. You can see that from the project start the timeline was in place and Ray knew I needed the stump removed before the retaining wall foundation could be laid. I told him on Wednesday, June 3 that the wall was going to be removed in the next couple of days and asked how much lead time he needed. I got no response. He did not return any of our calls when we were trying to get him to come out and grind the stump. He didn't respond with a date until June 11 and didn't come out until June 14. If he would have told me he couldn't meet my timeline I could have gotten someone else to do it. I had to hire someone else anyway because he couldn't even grind the stump deep enough for my walls foundation, which would have been nice to know before committing to the project. His price is fair, he does quick work, but he is unprofessional in my opinion and it cost us time and money.
