I rarely if ever leave bad reviews, but this one was very serious for me. I called Dr Fredian twice to try to book an appointment. She blew me off and sent me to her online patient portal, which did not work. I called to explain that the online system did not work, and she told me to email her. She still would not just take a single moment to make me an appointment herself. I then followed her instructions and emailed her to try to set up an appointment, and she never responded. So I emailed one more time. By the 4th time I reached out, I asked her to please really take me seriously because I was experiencing symptoms that gave me some small discomforts and concern, and I truly felt I needed a doctor, but not an ER. Her response was to call my voicemail and yell at me in my voicemail to just go to Urgent Care and tell me that my email asking for her to please take me seriously was "inappropriate." When I called back and tried to explain that I was not in need of urgent care, but just in need of a regular doctor's appointment, and that urgent care would not be helpful since I did not even have a regular doctor that I could list as my primary doctor, nor had I even seen a doctor at all for a basic visit, she told me that my phone call was "wasting valuable time" she could be spending with her patients. I was pretty shocked to hear that, but tried one more time to explain that I just really wanted to become one of those "valuable patients." I guess I'm only "valuable" if I am already paying into her pocket? When I tried to explain that all I was trying to do was become a patient because she had come well-recommended, and that I was finding it frustrating to try to access her services using the online modality, she hung up on me. What kind of doctor blows off and hangs up on a sick person who is just trying to get an appointment?

It's been convenient not having to come into the City as Dr. Kong is located at the Centre West Medical Building at Alameda South Shore next to the Office Max. Also, ample free parking is right in front of the building. I appreciate that appointments are readily available as I have gotten into this schedule within a week during both of my visits. Dr. Kong is nice and mixes in some humor during the consultation. He is on top of making sure your vaccines are up to date and suggests when to take certain ones due their possible physical reactions. He follows up on necessary tests if I am tardy on it, such as colonoscopies. He referred me to an orthopedic surgeon to check on shoulder if there was an internal issue. Janet and Cheryl at the front desk have been friendly and helpful as well. Glad to have made Dr. Kong my primary doctor and hope to have him caring for me for the coming years.

As my girl became more and more fatigued and sensitive, it became hard to leave the house. I have fatigue issues, but was spending hours trying to make food she would eat. Our lives revolved around her sensitivities. I finally told Dr. Carter that she was tired all the time, and I thought something else might be wrong. Dr. Carter just sent back a sarcastic note about her diet. And that set me back. Because when you ask a doctor for help, and they just imply that the only problem is with how you parent, it's really hard to know what to do next. But we left the practice and found a more thoughtful doctor. Whom I deeply appreciate. And it looks like my daughter may have been having problems with multiple systems for some time. I don't know how much growth and health she has lost at this point. But Dr. Carter could have caught this much sooner, if she had taken 5 minutes to order appropriate tests. Or even ask me more questions. Instead, she decided that it was more important to shame me for not controlling my kid's eating disorder. Which I was already exhausted from trying to do. So I am not her biggest fan at this point.

I grew up with her. I've been going to this her as early as I can remember. Dr. Parker is caring as she is kind. She always listens actively and deeply when you answer her questions, and can talk with you for an hour long. Which other doctor does that? I felt so cared for growing up with her, and actually always look forwards to my doctor appointments. I used to make lists of things to talk about with her. She has given me so much advice growing up, and I am sad to no longer be able to attend Alameda Pediatrics.

We were switched over to Dr. Burge, which we have been with for at least 5 years now. We adore her! She listens and really cares about the kids. I hope she stays for a long time cause my kids and I enjoy seeing her. The staff there are always nice. The MA (medical assistants) seems to change often though.. Parking (in the back) can be hard, it's shared with the post office and another office. Sometimes you can find parking in the front (park street) and around the corner, but you have to pay. Overall, my kids love coming here, there is a place in the waiting room that they can color and then after the visit, you used to get a lollipop and sticker, but now you can get a token to choose your prize like a bouncy ball, sticky hands etc, or you can opt for just a huge square sticker. The bandages they give after they give a shot or anything is also always cute, like transformers, dogs, cats, etc. Someone is always greeting you at the front and super friendly. The wait is not long after you check in. (It used to take awhile but recently it has been quick) I left for a year due to insurance change but was eager to come back after I got back my old insurance.

Mostly, I want a doctor who isn't snobby and treats me l as if I am stupid, who will give me the right treatment, will refer me to the right people. Someone I can be honest and direct with and I trust will give the same back. If you like doctors who are intelligent--even sharp--rather stoic, has your best in mind, yet isn't trying to win any personality contests, well Dr. Belk is the ONE. One star is for his intelligence and straightforwardness, which can be hard but he tells it like he sees it with no wide smiles only slight smurks.. Second star is because, unlike the routine at Alameda Family Physicians---and big reason why I like him--Dr. Belk is saving me hundreds of dollars by referring me to a cheaper pharmacy and filling my routine prescriptions for a longer period without unnecessary additional visits like Alameda Family Physicians required of me. Kudos to Dr. Belk on this one!. 3rd star is because he switched me to a better, more efficient medication than the practitioners at Alameda Family Physicians did--and again, for less cost to me (I am a cash pay) patient and I already feel better with this medication change than I have in 5 years! Thumbs up to Dr. Belk on this one! 4th star is because his brusk, dry, sarcastic humor along with the unhappy look that is practically glued to his face--still made me laugh although I don't prefer this style of comedy on a regular basis. Thanks for the efforts at comedy, Dr. Belk! 5th star I took away only because he isn't charming like James Bond. He has absolutely NO bedside manner, which I think is important for doctors to have--although I would prefer competence over charm in my doctor. After all, he is a doctor not a gigolo, right? I prefer a little warmth or a genuine, caring laugh and perhaps some reflective listening or at the very least some hint of compassion when I don't see eye to eye with him...attempting to humor me if he doesn't agree with me a little, would help greatly---but he won't do that. He sticks to his guns, like it or not---no niceties there. Summary: Doctor Belk has saved me money and gave me more effective medications than my last doctor did--so I consider him a very competent doctor. If he had a more delightful, compassionate charming personality----he'd be just about a perfect five star doctor, but because he's not trying to win any personality contests--he gets 4 stars. I recommend him if you have anti-social punk rocker / goth friends and ENJOY the ones who don't smile or hug the best.

Awesome. My insurance company fortunately was able to recommend that I see someone at Alameda Centre Physicians for urgent care. They had a live person, not a computer, answering the phone, and I was able to be seen on the day that I called without a wait like in an ER. While the receptionist could have been a bit friendlier, all of my needs were taken care of in a timely manner and the doctor I saw was very kind, didn't make me feel rushed, and listened to all of my concerns. So I was a little surprised to see that they have such a low rating on Yelp. I'm always curious as someone who works in the field to see what people use to guide their ratings of doctors' offices. While I can't speak to any of the billing concerns that people had (mine went smoothly, though), I am fascinated by people who think they know what the doctor should be doing/prescribing for them. Of course a lot of that can stem from not having good bedside manner or explaining things clearly, but people often seem to mix that up with "bad" doctoring too frequently. A sign of a good doctor is actually someone who doesn't always want to run tests all the time - we are taught to make judgments based on what people are presenting with and then use over 7 years of training to figure out the best but also most reasonable and cost-effective way to proceed for that patient. Do they ask you what your medications are even though you wrote it on your medical history? Good! That's what they're supposed to do! It has nothing to do with not reading your paper, they did that. But doctors are taught to be careful and make sure nothing has changed, that nothing needs to be clarified, and that you didn't forget anything. Did they prescribe you something that was an antibiotic? Just because you read an article in the HuffPost about antibiotic resistance doesn't necessarily mean they were being irresponsible. Sometimes antibiotics are used for a good reason. I'm not calling into question any of the reviewers who came before me; they may have had very good reasons for making their complaints. However I do think that these guys deserve a break. They run a really great practice model that makes it easier for most patients to be healthy and stay healthy without overworking ERs. And from what I experienced, they're very good doctors.
