I've been a patient with Dr Aldermann and Hemwall Center for roughly a year now. I will be doing my fifth injection coming in a few days. (3 shoulder, one lower back so far) To make it short and sweet, the procedure itself was incredible and life changing. From chronic shoulder and back pain to living a normal life. As of now my lower back is about 50 percent better (normally after the first injection 50 percent improvement has been the norm). I cannot wait to do my lower back again as the pain relief was in no other way to put it, life changing. Dr Aldermann and her assistant are always prompt and extremely thorough. They even lent me a book Dr Aldermann had written on prp and stem cell so I could learn more! I also learned that Dr. Aldermann has authored her own research and studies on knee Osteoarthritis. They prcoeeed to use imaging and provide a comprehensive (entire joint) injections which is crucial and one of the biggest dofferences between this office and others. The other providers I Have seen use prp like a cortisone injection, one directly into the joint using roughly 5mL of prp. Dr Aldermann takes out roughly 60 mL (guesstimate) and Ahmad multiple syringes of the prp! This review is long overdue. In 2017 I injured my hip/lower back and could barely put any pressure on my leg. For over six months I went to several Dr.'s, had X-Rays and MRIs and the only thing showing up was mild dysplasia of my hip. I was in constant pain, had difficulty getting around, used a wheelchair at times, a cane always and a brace around my hip. Having tried Prolotherapy in the past for a shoulder injury, I decided to seek out someone who is an expert in Prolotherapy and PRP. After researching, I contacted Dr. Alderman. Although she was an hour and a half away, I decided to make the trip. Little did I know others fly in from all over the country to to see her. From the first moment I met her, I knew she was going to help me and became hopeful. Her extensive training in both Prolotherapy and PRP made my decision a no brainer. She used targeted Ultrasound to both diagnose and treat my sacroiliac joints along with my pelvis. I was encouraged from the beginning and saw 60% improvement right away. The remaining 40% took about another year as I was not an active person, and have some health conditions which have weakened my immune system. Dr. Alderman is ALWAYS friendly, patient, kind and understanding, but above all extremely knowledgeable and a pioneer in her field. She thoroughly explained everything, and answered any and all questions I had. She even called me at home when I had a reaction to some bandages they placed over the injection sites. I received outstanding care and support from Dr. Alderman and her staff. They are super friendly and caring about how their patients are treated and cared for. She goes to great lengths to explain what she is doing and why, and made sure I understood how the treatments work. My knee which has had weakness and pain in the ligaments and joint, has shown great improvement since I started treatments with her. It continues to get better and I expect a great recovery. I can add a longer term review. I had severe acute back pain for 10-12 years (so bad I could not tie my shoes or get out of bed without rolling out) from L-1 to L-3 damage. I spent thousands over many years on every imaginable treatment short of surgery, which the Spine Center would not recommend due to the location. By chance, I found Dr. Alderman around 2005 or so (can't remember the exact year now), and she saved my life, or at least the quality of it. I had several treatments, yes it's expensive, but for me it was worth every penny and much more. I'm starting too have some pain again at age 77 now, and am thinking of going back for more. I can't thank her enough for what she did for me. BTW, I have recommended prolo to many people around the country over the years, and many have had great results. But some have not. Can't comment on the reason -- their bodies, the practitioner, or whatever, so it's not 100% for all people, but I would say more than half the people I referred and who found their own practitioner in their own localities had good experiences. read more

I have seen the Doc a number of times and I am skeptical of most medical practitioners regardless of main stream or not. BUT THIS WORKS - let me explain. IMHO Prolotherapy works better on large areas. Shoulders - tennis elbow - ankle - spine. It is a bit more challenging to get to the smaller areas - hands - feet etc, I have a 20 year problem with my hands and it kept me from playing music for a living for 15 years. I had 3 treatments with the basic dextrose injections and the results were almost nil. I tried the more expensive platelet treatment and not too much better HERE IS THE SECRET - and it worked for me. I went to see Dr Whitmer - acupuncturist in the Berkeley Tannery. I asked him return Chi flow to my arm and hand. At the same time Dr Alderman brought it an Ultrasound technician. She now can shoot the exact area that needs attention while watching on the Ultrasound monitor, Bingo! it worked - even on a 35 year old injury to my hand it a tiny area. So in my experience - Acupuncture helps but does not totally repair tendons and muscles. Prolotherpy benefits from the energy flow and the one two punch is recommended. I saw Dr. Alderman on a recommendation from a friend. He raved about how she fixed a chronic back issue he had for 25 years. I was fully intending to get stem cell treatment for a torn PCL. A torn PCL is both rare and difficult to treat. She looked at my knee thoroughly with ultra sound and sat and answered my questions for almost an hour afterwards. I've never had that much time with a physician. I was thankful for her no bullshit attitude and felt I could trust her. She was willing to go forward with whatever treatment I wanted and was frank about what she could and could not do. In the end I did not elect to have the treatment at that time. read more

I first saw Dr. Alderman for consultation and treatment in April of 2020. I had torn the LCL on my right knee and absolutely wanted to avoid surgery, if at all possible. I was so impressed by Dr. Alderman and her knowledge, as well as her staff. I went ahead and had a PRP treatment that same day. Sorry to say I spent $2,000 back in 2007 for Prolotherapy which in my case was a series of four injections. In my case it was unsuccessful. In my opinion the physcian was not empathetic, felt it was a money making scam . There was never any follow up care or txmt plan after failed treatment injections c Prolotherapy.But it must be effective for some pts , the physcisn drives a beautiful car with personalized plates. read more

Dr Alderman is one of the most seasoned Prolo & PRP practitioners in the area. She is humble and personable, answers all your questions, discusses options and respects her patients. A few years ago I was told by two highly respected Orthopedists that I had no other choice but shoulder surgery. I suffered from debilitating knee pain for years and had stopped all hiking and was barely able to even walk more than a couple of blocks without excruciating pain occurring. I've seen doctor alderman after a few bad car accidents. She put me back together 15 years ago. I've had occipitals neck shoulder lower back and hip worked on. Recently I got hit 70 miles an hour and had neck and shoulder pain. She treated me once with prolotherapy once and it's pain free. I had my hip worked on. I know I need a couple more treatments. With one done on my hip my pain is 50 percent less. This is the best treatment for tendon and joint issues. I did my research because I had to wear a neck brace for 2 years. I received tremendous help from Dr. Alderman. She answered all of my anxious questions about stem-cell therapy, the procedure and the potential results. Responding to the last review, I had similarly unspectacular results for my osteo-arthritic knee (three treatments) some years back, BUT excellent results for a crippling 6-month SI joint/disk problem before that. After many months of traditional orthopedic treatment, I first saw Dr. Alderman on August 6, 2013. At that time, I was rapidly heading towards knee replacement surgery due to chronic knee pain and extreme discomfort in my left knee. Yesterday, I received my third prolotherapy treatment from Dr. Alderman. All of my treatments have been the advanced PRP injections; and, I take four of the recommended supplement capsules (LigaGenix) daily. I am an avid golfer an ocean fisherman. My knee pain has prevented me from enjoying either of these activities for more than six months. As a result of Dr. Alderman's treatments (only three so far), I am now ready to get back to enjoying golf, fishing, and working out. In fact, I was able to resume golf practice several days ago; and, I resumed my cardiovascular routine two weeks ago. Although I was very skeptical of this approach initially, I am absolutely astonished by the progress I have witnessed so far. For the most part, I have been pain-free for about one week. I initially injured my back 30 years ago while Lifeguarding at Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk. For the past 30 years I have had progressive back pain. I have seen and explored all options. Since then I have received an additional 5 treatments to my back. It is now May 22, 2014 and I am 100 percent pain free. I've been suffering from chronic back pain for years since my mid twenties (now in my late 30s) and have hyper mobility that seems to make things worse. i had a few prolotherapy treatments in my lower back with another practitioner previously with some success so I thought I'd try the Hemwall medical center as they have some new techniques (PRP and stem cells) in addition to the traditional prolotherapy. Dr. Alderman recommended PRP for my lower back plus traditional prolotherapy. I was concerned because of the high prices and no insurance coverage, but she was confident this would help me and both her and the nurse were very encouraging so I decided to make the investment. Over $4000 later after doing multiple treatments, I've had no improvement! In fact, the pain was WORSE for a long time after and only now (almost a year later) am I back to a similar pain level as prior to the treatment. I've had multiple physical therapy treatments to help me get better. It was an absolute waste of time for me, which is incredibly frustrating. I feel they overcharge and they way overdue it on the prolotherapy injections. I think prolotherapy can be a useful technique if done appropriately for each individual, but PRP is a joke. I say this as a PhD scientist that's done more research on this technique after the fact. You basically inject your own blood over the injured area. You could apply heat to the injury, and get blood to circulate to the area too without paying thousands of dollars. It's not going to fix the problem, but at least you won't go broke. While I think Dr. Alderman and her nurse are really nice, I didn't have a good experience with the Hemwall Medical Center treatments. I wouldn't recommend them. read more
