Dr. Jae H. Kim, DPM (male) is super knowledgeable and knows his stuff. Treated us for plantar warts -- definitely not fun, but it helps a lot to have someone who really knows what's going on. We saw him at the Oakland office. Email follow-ups and advice are very convenient. I'd highly recommend if you need a podiatrist. read more

TL;DR the doctor himself was great during the appointment but as it takes to months to get ahold of anyone on the phone to schedule the next appointment or get support in scheduling an MRI scheduled in their preferred partners clinic, I can't recommend. Reading through the other reviews, it feels like I'm going to an entirely different clinic than you all. I'm glad that others have had a good experience though because being in pain and unable to see anyone about it is frustrating. While they were fairly responsive via email to my initial outreach and I was able to be seen within the weeks on early December, it has been hell trying to get them back on the phone. I was referred for an MRI, and in a strange turn of events that issue won't call me back either. I've left voicemails, I've exchanged texts as it appeared to facilitate a faster response initially. It's now the end of January and nothing. I''m at a loss as to what to do at this point so I've requested a copy of their initial diagnosis and will look elsewhere for a foot specialist. read more

This place is useless. The doctor just threw pills at me to get me out of the office. He told me I need an MRI. The place they refer you to to get an MRI is even more useless, NorCal Imaging. They took three weeks to call to schedule me and you sit on hold for an hour when you try to call the place. I went to another podiatrist and got an MRI by the time NorCal imaging called me. What kind of business finds it acceptable to refer patients to a place where they are able to get the care they need in a timely manner. read more

I've been putting off going to see a Podiatrist for an ingrown toenail problem for about 2 mos for various reasons, but it became clear I need professional help. Dr Kim came highly recommended by a friend who had similar problem so I made an appointment right away. My big toe was engorged due to an infection and the pain was unbearable. Even though I feared I would have to suffer more pain at the drs office, the whole procedure was so well done by Dr Kim that I asked myself why I put it off for 2 whole months. I admit I was completely a baby and didn't even let him see my toe before he promised I wouldn't experience any pain. Dr Kim was gentle and super sensitive to my fear and pain level. Today, I am pain free and my toe is healing nicely. I can go back to hiking and walking without pain. I give him 10/10 in all areas. I highly recommend him for any foot issues, especially ingrown toe nails, as I know it can be excruciatingly painful. Thank you Dr Kim. read more

Wow, where to begin. I dont understand how everyone but me got excellent service so maybe im the outlier here. I came into see Dr. Kim on a tuesday in mid august 2016. I twisted my ankle in Tahoe, and at the time i had no insurance. so I did my homework and came to see what happened to my swollen ankle and feet. Knowing my situation, Dr. Kim referred me to a cheap radiologist in sunnyvale. He told me he would call me right away if something was broken so we can address the problem. I took the digital x-ray on Friday. I called the office assistant and let her know. I heard nothing back over the weekend, and being uninsured I didnt want to pester. So tuesday, since I didnt hear back, i figured nothing was broken thus took myself to therapy. Luckily, I had a copy of my x-ray and had brought them with me. The therapist took one look and told me I had a broken 5th metatarsal thus could not work on me. A little surprised I called Dr. Kim. He tells me he just got the x-ray and tells me I need surgery. I was quite pissed at the lack of concern. I told him Ill get another opinion. Still a cash patient, I called Dr. LERMAN an experienced podiatrist with almost no reviews on yelp. But Trishia, the assistant told me to send me the copy of x-rays. And that she will have the Dr. look at it and call me back. She called back within 30 mins. They tell me to come in right away so we can cast it. Dr. Lerman was caring and thoughtful. Explained my break and showed me with a sonogram. He added that my break had splayed by another 2mm since the xray. And that it may need surgery. But rather tapes the break to set the bone and gives me an air cast with a prescription for my pain. And apologized for my runin with Dr. Kim. Now I have a follow up with Dr. Lerman for the 15th of Sept for a follow up. Hopefully I wont need surgery, but im insured now so I can affford it. What a difference in trearment and care. Going back to my assessment of Ace foot and ankle and Dr. Kim. FAILURE TO Care for a patient in pain. No concern for the patient's needs. Greedy to suggest only surgery while allowing my condition worsen. Overall just another shady machanic for my ankle. Word to the wise, do not use Dr. Kim. He will take your money and leave you to suffer in pain. Maybe he is broke because of student loans. But this is no way to run a clinic. read more

I went to Ace for ingrown toe nails in October. Annie at the front desk is very nice. Dr. Kim, who did my procedure, was very nice. During the procedure, she was a little bit nervous and hurried a bit on my last toe, it kind of felt like she was late for her next patient, but I didn't worry much. Two weeks later the pain came back and two months later, the ingrown toe nails grew back. They are so painful, by 3:00 at work, I have trouble walking, so In February, I went back. Dr. Kim re-did the procedure; this time with the root-killing chemical. The pain, after the procedure, seemed to be worse. I was really upset. This had now gone on for 7 months. The procedure is the most common procedure there is in podiatry, and mine have either been done wrong or not completed. I chose to go to a different doctor at this point. I am now in the month of May, in excruciating pain every day. This new doctor, re-does the procedure and finds a pretty large chunk of nail that is still attached to the root and growing back ingrown. I would be scared to go back to Ace, my procedure was done wrong twice. It cost me all of my sick days at work, it cost me a planned vacation, and a year of excruciating pain. read more

I have only kind things to say about this place! There is a private parking garage below the location which is nice. Annie works the front desk and checked me in, she's so pleasant to speak with! After filling out some paperwork I was quickly seen. And Dr. Kim is so knowledgeable and discussed my metatarsal feature thoroughly and in a way I understood. I'm extremely happy that I picked this office to carry out my recovery. Lucky me! I stumbled into find Dr. Kim's practice through the random web search and I am so glad I did. Dr. Kim is just establishing a clinic here in Oakland after building his practices in other areas of the Bay and I can imagine him doing very well here. I was able to schedule an appointment very quickly. He and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Dr. Kim spent plenty of time educating me and helping me better understand my injury and how to help my foot heal quickly. He laid out a follow up plan that was clear and reassuring. I was so fortunate to find this doctor! A few months ago I was in a car accident and broke my ankle. It's almost healed, but then I developed an ingrown toenail on that foot! Everything hurt already so I was very reluctant to let anyone touch it! Dr. Kim was very prompt, I got an appointment the same day, and he was so competent and gentle! I went to see Dr. Kim based on the on line reviews by other patients. Very disappointing. Did not take a photo to have a baseline against which to check progress of treatment., Did not check the record of the first visit for any notes. Recommendations regarding treatment were very different one month apart. Medication prescribed was completely out of range of affordability and he didn't seem to be aware of the cost. COVID foot related symptoms missed!! Please read this before going to see dr. Brett Dupont. I waited for the dr to do the right thing, but I guess patient care is not a priority at this office. The day after Thanksgiving, my son developed sudden onset red, inflamed, itchy toes on his left foot. The right foot had one red and inflamed toe for little over a week already. When both feet were symptomatic, I knew something was wrong. I contacted dr Brett Dupont's office at 1:00 pm and the receptionist said that the dr will be calling me at 3:45. She charged my credit card $150 and I sent photos of both feet. At 3:45, dr Dupont called and said that my son had an infection and he needed 1500 mg of Keflex for an ingrown nail on his right foot. I mentioned that the dosage was too high for a child and he said "sorry I don't see children often, let's change it to 750mg." He also said that I need to bring my son in on the following Monday for a $400-500 procedure where the ingrown nail will be partly removed. When I questioned the diagnosis and the treatment, especially since both feet were affected, he said you don't have to do the procedure, " it's only for your son!" I mentioned a possible allergy to Keflex and the dr said that he will check with the pharmacist. I hung up and called the pharmacist to make sure she had a list of my son's allergies, and she did. The pharmacist recommended that Azithromycin to be given instead of Keflex. However, when the dr. finally called in Azithromycin, the dosage was too high for a child. From 4:30 till the pharmacy closed at 9pm, the pharmacist and I tried numerous times to get in touch with the dr and the receptionist. No one called or text back! I am retired now, but being in health care for 30 years, I could not believe the irresponsibility and incompetence of dr Dupont. The next morning, I took my son to urgent care to see a real Dr. The Dr. looked and immediately said it was COVID-toes. He laughed when I said a podiatrist thought it was a terrible infection from an ingrown nail. The following Monday, I asked for a refund since the diagnosis was blatantly wrong and I never got treatment or even a phone call. On Thursday, I text again since no one had the decency to get back to me. I finally got a text saying that there will be no refund because the dr spent "15 minutes trying to help me.....you reached out late on a holiday and we did our best." I find it disgraceful that during a pandemic, dr Dupont doesn't know anything about COVID related foot symptoms, doesn't follow through with proper treatment , and expects me to pay $150 for 15 minutes of his time. I guess he thinks his 15 minutes were worth more than the hours I spent worrying and calling the pharmacist to see if the dr had called in the correct prescription. I reached out to the pharmacist and she could not believe he did not follow through. She asked me to stop by and get a print out of her notes where she signed and left her number. Shame on you for not refunding me my money and shame on you for not being aware of foot related Covid symptoms. read more

While playing tennis I ruptured my achilles tendon. I was a bit devastated. I had heard from a friend of mine that Dr. Lagaay was skilled . So after a consultation I found out he could do the surgery with just a very small incision and get me back to walking (and more importantly to me) playing tennis very soon!! Dr. Lagaay and his staff did not disappoint! I had surgery and was in a walking boot for about 2 weeks with minimal pain. Dr. Lagaay is very compassionate and thorough. I'm a dance student in college and am always on my feet- and being on my feet means I get them injured from time to time. I can trust Dr.Kim because he helps alleviate my foot pain and gives me tips on how to maintain the health of my feet, all without the need for invasive surgery and such. Recently I felt discomfort with my Achilles' tendon and thought that I wouldn't be able to dance for a while, but with some modifications to my foot ware and simple stretches (all recommended by Dr.Kim) I'm managing the pain really well. Called in the morning, appt made that afternoon. Was seen at exactly my appt time. Dr Dix clearly established her competency from the get go, explained what all the things it could be, including %age chance that I might have one thing or another. Treated the wound expertly, including identifying by the sight and smell(!) of the bacteria that the meds I was on was not the right treatment (impressive). If you have anything wrong with your feet or ankles go to Dr LeGaay. He fixed a problem that began with an injury when I was eight and had gradually worsened into a massive and painful bunion by the time I was 60. I had heard a lot of scare stories about this surgery but Dr LeGaay fixed it with a tiny incision and only minor discomfort. I did not have to take anything stronger than Motrin during the recovery phase. He was extremely clear about explaining what was wrong and how he would fix it, answered all my questions immediately and made an unpleasant situation so much better with a minimum of fuss. Really can not recommend him or his friendly front office staff highly enough. read more

I have had ingrown toenail problems my whole life. THEY ARE THE WORST! This one was particularly bad, and I was afraid to go to the doctor, due to the pain that I was experiencing at home, I knew it would be painful at the doctor as well. Let me just tell you, on a scale of 1-10 on the pain scale, this thing was a 1. He completely numbed the toe, and them numbing it was the only part that hurt, (that was the 1 on the scale). Once the toe was numbed he told me to close my eyes, which I did for *some* of the time, and then he did his magic. He asked me if I wanted it to be "permanent or temporary". Of course I wanted it to be permanent so he put some acid on the part where the nail grows, so it doesn't grow back. It has been almost a week now, and I have my checkup tomorrow, but it feels good and looks good! I want to have my other big toe done, just so I don't have to deal with it in the future. I wonder if this is covered as "preventative care" under Obamacare! ;) read more
