Truly Life Changing Results! I've worked with Hendershott Wealth Management since about 2017. I started then as part of her personal wealth coaching program and it unlocked tons of financial growth for our family. I really wanted to like Hendershott Wealth Management. They really had the benefit of the doubt for me when we started out. I had listened to a few of Hilary's podcast episodes and loved that she catered to women and couples because so many times my wife and I would be dealing with something financial, and we'd both get the impression that the person we were dealing with would be speaking only to me and not to her. Our initial meeting with Hilary went well, and after our second meeting we got the ball rolling and started transferring assets into the accounts they set up for us. I mention this because I want everyone to know that we were probably the ideal customers for Hilary's firm. They didn't have to try too hard to sell us on going with them. Things were going smoothly until one day, I sent Hilary an email asking what her advice would be on some stock options I had at a privately held company and how AMT would be assessed if we exercised those options. She responded that she needed a day or two to get back to me, which is totally fine. In the span of a week, this happened: - Sunday, I email her asking the initial question - Monday, we exchanged a few emails with ended with my asking her how AMT would factor in on a full exercise and partial sale of those options - Tuesday, I got a reply saying she'll get me an answer in a day or two. I replied and said that would be fine, I can wait a day or two for an answer. - Thursday, I reply and ask for an update, no answer - Friday, I got a reply asking to get back to me on Monday or Tuesday of the following week, then later on Friday I got an email that was forwarded from the Tax prep CPA she had referred us to with a partial answer and a lot of ambiguity. I tried to call her and get a better answer, but it was Valentine's day and by the time I got off work, everyone was gone. Okay, that's fine, I'll get the answer the following Monday. It was a little troubling to learn that she was outsourcing the answer and hadn't once told us that she didn't know. She never told us to go directly to the CPA we were already referred to and were working with. - Monday I got another email from someone in her office that attempted to clear up the ambiguity of that email. It was helpful, but didn't clear everything up so I responded and restated my original question: how is AMT calculated and how is FMV determined for a private company? - Thursday, when I emailed again asking if there were any updates. The CPA replied to me claiming to have emailed us shortly after we emailed her on Monday. Neither me or my wife got any such email (checked our spam folder and found nothing). I replied and again restated the question as clearly as I could and got response saying Hilary was on a plane. - Friday, I got an email from Hilary. In it, she blamed me for expecting an answer when she was "halfway around the world with [her] family and had no idea [she] needed to plan around still being available to [us]". She also accused us of needing to be better/open about communication with them (mind you, anyone else reading this email chain would not draw this conclusion). She also blamed me for not telling the CPA about this particular question, (apparently they discussed our situation without including us). I replied to Hilary's email apologizing if I was at fault for any miscommunication and apologizing if I was bothering her on vacation with her family. In fact, I mentioned specifically in that email that I'm a big believer in disconnecting and taking time off to spend with your family. I have no expectations of a response if you're on vacation. The thing is, she never once let us know that she was going to be unavailable/out-of-the-office/on-vacation. Not once. The next email I got from her essentially said, as we were in the process of transferring a lot of our assets into her account, that she no longer wanted to work with us and thinks we should find someone else. Wow. So here's where we were left with Hendershott Wealth Management: 1) Hilary blames us of poor communication, when anyone with a lick of common sense reading this email chain would draw the opposite conclusion 2) Hilary blames us for bothering her when she was supposed to be on a vacation with her family that she never indicated to her clients was happening. We got no communication at all regarding any unavailability. See item 1 about poor communication. 3) She essentially cuts us loose AS OUR ASSETS ARE TRANSFERRING INTO ACCOUNTS SHE HAS ACCESS TO. 4) She never once apologized or took ownership of any of the clear mistakes that were made in handling this. I wish she'd been upfront about the limits of her knowledge. How do you trust someone who isn't upfront about what they know and what they don't? See item 1 on poor communication. EDIT: Unfortunate that, even in her response, she still won't own up to *any* of this. read more

Her ability to engage and quickly connect with people has been quite impressive over the past few years, especially through this form of written communication. I really don't believe it's just a platform for an effective sales and marketing plan (although, I suspect, this persistent and creative approach to increase market share has likely been extremely beneficial). Its apparent, however, her purpose and mission is much deeper than just a strategy to "win friends and influence people." I'm not sure about others, but after reading these weekly "ditties," I walk away thinking, "I wanna be more like Hendershott." It's been a crazy trip! Hilary and Jen have managed to change my mentality towards finances. I participated in their program called $50K multiplier. I went in with some very bad financial habits, messy accounts, and practically 0 knowledge about: investing, 401K, health plans, insurances etc. After several months of work, my finances are all sorted out. Everything is automated, I know where I am standing at every given moment, and my credit score went from high 600's to high 700's. I had phobias about investing, but with these ladies I am comfortable doing it because they actually took the time to explain it to me. Once I got the basics, I couldn't believe the amounts of money I have missed out on because I had not been investing. Hilary is a fiduciary financial advisor, so you know that she always has the clients' best interest in mind. The other thing that was great about the program was that they focus on women (let's face it, we are not particularly interested in finances), and figuring out the underlying reasons of each person's financial mess.
