Henlong's been my go-to spot whenever I'm craving a taste of home or need Asian groceries that regular supermarkets just don't have. They've got everything from live seafood and fresh produce to sauces, snacks, and noodles from all over Asia. Prices are pretty reasonable too -- definitely cheaper than T&T for most things. That said, the aisles can get pretty tight and crowded, especially on weekends, and the checkout lines move slow sometimes. But the variety makes up for it. Their hot food section and bakery always smell amazing -- I just wish they had a few more ready-to-eat options or maybe a small seating area. This supermarket is filled with SO many goodies and great ingredients for a lot of Asian dishes. They have some underground parking as the complex lot does get quite busy. Great selection of fruits and veggies and they also have a meat and seafood department. I think it's fun to peruse the aisles and get some Asian snacks and treats. There is also a banh mi, bbq meats, Vietnamese snacks and a Filipino food stall. I wish I lived closer to enjoy all the food but it's probably better for my wallet and stomach if I paced out my visits haha read more

Was a very packed spot for how small it was. There was a variety of items to go through ranging from spices and vegetables to meats and bread. My family and I went in to grab some pandesal from the little shop inside, as well as suman and ingredients. There is a parking lot out front, but it gets filled up fast. Very disappointing experience. The security guard stopped me to check my receipt when I was leaving, but the person right behind me was allowed to go without being checked. It felt unfair and disrespectful. I reported this to customer service, but the staff said there's nothing they can do. That response made it even more frustrating -- it feels like customer concerns aren't taken seriously at all. I hope management looks into this and treats customers more fairly in the future. read more

If you want grocery items from the South East Asia, this will be the place for you, they carry a wide selection of speciality items such as fresh Vietnamese herbs & spices, they even have Vietnamese Cilantro ( the ones you get when you order BBH! ). Prices are very reasonable, a very large section dedicated to frozen fish ( the variety of fish is amazing! ). And for you who wants to try making some of the Vietnamese / Thai food at home, you will find that most of the ingredients are here! To make things easier, they also have packaged sauces for your convenience! I visited here for once and it was interesting experience. Henlong is one of few grocery stores that carry South East Asian spices/ingredients and they have lots of Thai/Vietnamese ingredients. Their bag policy is similar to what I've seen in Vietnam. No backpacks or large bags allowed, and you need to leave it by the entrance. Security even checks for bags as well, and this was what I experienced at the malls in Vietnam. I liked how they have big selections of instant Vietnamese noodles and Thai sauces/seasonings. They also had sections for home/kitchen goods and it was even bigger than 88 Market in my neighborhood. Perfect place to get South East Asian condiments. Washrooms are located upstairs and you have to walk around the turnstile. There was small selection of Polish seasonigs/spices from what I remember. read more

Maybe I came to wrong timing. I stopped here Sunday late afternoon. Parking and store were chaotic. I was looking for a specific thing which my friend found only this store had it with reasonable price in metro Vancouver. It's soursop and the tea made from it. After I asked one clerk and found it. Their tropical fruits selection is really good but price tag looks messy sometimes. And it's hard to say clean store. Next time I'd like to have Vietnamese and Filipino food court at there. I didn't know this place existed. they sell quite a good selection of Thai products. When you walk in you pass by some hot food stand. Hen Long is tailored to Asians not just Chinese, but to Filipino, Thai etc. Selection is definitely different from say T&T. Only thing is the location. Its located in Surrey and yes its not close to me. We came here to pick up sauces for friends in Kamloops. Sauces like Yen Ta Fo which I have never seen before. But they have it here. In my quest to try different Vietnamese sandwich places, I ended up here. Located inside Henlong Market, this stand sells one of the best deals in Surrey. My go to is always the special ($3.95). The baguette is a good size and almost the length of a dinner plate. There was mayo, cold cuts, pate, pickled carrots and daikon, slivers of onions, cucumber, cilantro and jalapeño. All the goodies I enjoy in the special. The stall also sells a number of desserts and deep fried items. I need to stop by again and try some of the other items. read more

I was referred to this grocery store by a friend as I was around the area and hoped to grab some produce for dinner. The grocery store front reminds me of the Asian row of buildings by Spring Mountain in Las Vegas. The typical Asian parking manuvers and tons of patience have to be used to ensure road rage is on check. Everyone wants a parking spot on the ground level, but I found that they have 2 free underground parking levels in the building - why do people even bother with the rain and 7-point turns is beyond me. As I take the elevator up, I noticed the community board is all tacked with Vietnamese ads - nice! I hit a Vietnamese grocery store! The supermarket offers different things than T&T's. While T&T focuses more on South Asians, this one focuses on SE Asians (Thai, Malay, Viet, Filipino, and a bit of East Indian). Prices are comparable to T&T, and some produce are cheaper, while others are way more expensive. They also have a Filipino fast food of sorts by the bakery at the corner. Patrons are, of course, a hodge podge of SE Asians from all over Surrey. Yes, they accept credit cards. Go check them out if you love SE Asian foods and need some flavours in your life. read more

this not happening once but many times, and I feel like ... they treat us like a thief. very bad customer service, special the guy on the gate, they have meat and fresh fish on the back and they ask to pay them at the meat counter. We paid them and I got some other stuffs that were paid at the cashier. when I entered to the elevator to go to the parking, the guy stopped us and told us didn't pay that pay this.. blah blah .. I gave him the receipt and he did NOT event check the receipt, and not apologized... one time we bought the stuffs to return, he saw we bought stuffs in the shop and went right to the customer service for a return. he still annoyed us by asking the receipt, and he checked people around that did I really bring stuffs in the shop.... or I stole it and he keep following us... So Stupid ....And... Not professional... poor service Don't recommend this place. read more

They need to have a parking attendant before it escalated into disputes or fights. Cars/SUV`s are often double parked and the underground wasn`t planned very well as the stalls are very narrow . Once inside , it gets better although a little dirty. read more

I am revising my review to reflect my recent experience at the store. I was picking up groceries when an older gentleman (not sure if he was a manager or not) came up to me and accused me of taking photos of the products and prices. I told him that I was simply looking at a grocery list that my sister had given me on my smartphone. I showed him the list but he insisted I was taking photos. I love almost everything about this supermarket. We shop here very regularly & purchase the majority of our fruits, vegetables, frozen seafood, fresh herbs, Asian bakery treats, Asian spices/bottled sauces/snacks, rice and much more here. Overall, this is a far better Asian supermarket than T&T - by leaps and bounds - and even their prices are far better. I don't think I've ever even had any Hen Long employee be rude to me or blow me off, regardless of the fact that I'm obviously not Asian. Quite the opposite. I've gotten nothing but great service from the first time I had ever shopped here, which often isn't the case when I go to other 'ethnic' type food stores. Great location on 104 with lots of parking directly outside of the store, as well as underground. We can always find parking here. Easy to get to by car or transit. There are a few casual food establishments right across the lot, in addition to the several counters inside including a bakery, fresh seafood tanks, a housewares & small appliance section, a roasted duck & pork counter - which is delivered daily & is far better than the roasted duck that T&T is pimping - and a bubble tea place inside the main supermarket (try the Thai bubble tea with milk!) plus some additional offices on the second floor, which is still 'under development' so to speak. You can walk in, get yourself an ice cold drink, have a snack or even a meal and shop in a low stress environment all in the same place. One of my favorite things here is that ALL of their checkout lanes are always open! unlike god-forsaken Superstore. We actually prefer shopping here to any other grocery store, hands down. Especially since we can get almost everything we need in terms of both Asian & Western foods. Their produce is beautiful.....cheaper & fresher than anywhere else the majority of the time, with the rare exception. They also carry so many items which regular supermarkets don't such as Javanese sugar, sauces from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand & even Japan, really good quality rice in larger bags, fresh Thai basil, lots of fresh mint, absolutely gorgeous mushrooms in several varieties, fresh grated coconut & banana leaves in the freezer section, amazing shrimp, prawns, squid & fish at very good prices, beautiful birds eye chili peppers at the cheapest price I've seen anywhere in the Lower Mainland and much much more. Their bakery bits & bobs are always fresh & the woman who normally works that counter is incredibly nice & friendly, always remembers what we like buying. Their selection of spices, fresh herbs, non-typical fruits etc is always very good and sold at great prices. The only things I'm really hoping they add to their stock are some Asian skin care & hair care products, as well as some cosmetic brands. There are several Japanese & Korean brands which are amazing but are very difficult to find here, which we always have to order online. It would also be nice to see more housewares & unique small appliances which we typically don't see here. And I can't wait til they fully open the upper floor. I'm hoping to see a variety of stores up there carrying hard-to-find items, which means I'll be shopping at this place even more often. It's just a great supermarket that is incredibly easy - as well as actually enjoyable - to shop at. And I'm no fan of shopping, believe me. This is one of my preferred stores for east and south asian groceries. I find their prices and selection for harder-to-find south asian (especially Thai) ingredients to be far superior than T&T, which can be overpriced and tends to focus more on Chinese products. I stop by Hen Long whenever I am in Surrey for work, which unfortunately is not too often. They have everything you need and more. I like that they sell meat bones for soup stock. They used to carry this awesome brand of dried brown rice flat noodles I used to love for making pad thai (better sauce absorption!) but unfortunately they stopped carrying it and it was the only place I was able to find these noodles :( The grocery store has a section for buying meats (bbq pork, duck, chicken), as well as Vietnamese food (banh mi, snacks and desserts), Filipino takeout, Asian baked goods and bubble tea. read more

Asian grocery store with a variety of selection. If you are looking for something used in Asia and not as common, you'll probably find it here. This review is more for the bakery that sells Filipino breads. Last time I bought delicacies, it was good and authentic. Sad to say, this time, it's a fail. The delicacies still look like Philippine made, but that's where it ends. They no longer taste authentic and good. It's like fake sapin sapin, fake puto and fake kutsinta. They look good, but the taste and texture are different. I have a feeling that the old vendor is no longer managing that place. Too bad. Then I also bought 6 baguettes at the next shop. The lady was picking and choosing the baguettes. Are you giving those to me because they are smaller or older? Something doesn't seem quite right. Their turon isn't good too. Like I said, Vietnamese pretending to be Filipino. And forget about social distancing here as it's nearly impossible to do so here. read more

Extremely bad customer service. Today, Jun04, 2021 at 2pm, my mom and I came to Henlong market. My mom wants to use washroom, and I asked the cashier lady in upstairs to open or give me the key of washroom, but she didn't listen. I continue to ask her 6-7 times because my mom is old, over 70 years old, but she always said "door is open". Unfortunately, it's not. Other staff told me to ask her again, but she ignored. My favourite Asian market, I come here at least once a week, it's a family run business that has been in the community for a very long time and I like to support that. They have a really good selection of fresh hard to find Asian vegetables, all types of Asian foods, and some basic Western items. The market is always super clean and appears to be well managed. Prices are very reasonable. Also, I love me a Vietnamese sub!!! They are the best subs!! Extra spicy please. Oh and the fresh baked in-store pandesal. And the roast pork... amazing. I have often shopped at Henlong Market and took my out of town visitors to experience shopping at this store. We bought live fresh crab and paid for the higher item as several were on display at a lower price. We bought and paid for several whole crabs which we had asked for them to be cleaned and cut up. While we engaged ourselves in buying other fresh sea food items we did not pay attention to what was being wrapped up only to find out when we got home to cook the crab that the big claws were missing. On that same day we also stopped by to purchase BBQ meat items. We were helped by an older lady behind the counter and although we requested the BBQ Pork which we would like to be chopped up she would not abide and proceeded to sell us a different piece saying that it was leaner. We also purchased BBQ Duck. However when we unwrapped the BBQ Pork we found out that what was wrapped up was old and stale not fresh and unedible. read more

My family have been coming here every since I was a little kid when we used to live in the suburbs. Now that we live in Vancouver, my mom and I still make it out here every now and then to check things out. Their prices are always decent and they have a large frozen section that I like to browse. My last visit was just the beginning of Sept 2017 and they had recently opened the upstairs floor where they are selling household goods (mostly kitchen stuff but there are other random things too). I'm not a fan of the prices for the household goods but who knows, you may find something that you need. read more

I am so thankful that Henlong Market expanded and is now bigger and cleaner. I live in Surrey and love the convenience of having a good Asian supermarket to shop at. I need a lot of Asian spices for my Vietnamese cooking. It's better price than T&T especially the fresh mints and vegetable selections. Good Vietnamese cooking requires a lot of herbs, mints and spices and Henlong never fails to deliver. They have great hours so you can always beat the crowd at 8am! Love this place and happy to see it's getting more products for their customers to choose. read more

My friends from Burnaby come here to shop on weekends, despite the long public transit travel time. Parking area is unusual, but this store, for me, is "worth the trouble" because they have many Asian (esp. Indonesian) food that can't be found elsewhere under one roof. Prices are low, low low. No parking shortage after 7:30pm. They sell healthy Asian foods. read more

I MEAN.... it's not bad. There's a food court. Lots of variety of fruits that you can't get a regular supermarkets like superstore. I wish there were more parking spaces directly in front of the store but other than that it looks like it can be a one stop shop for a lot of people in Surrey. I feel like its in a weird area but it's not too far off from Superstore either. THIS REVIEW IS TERRIBLE but this place isn't bad. That's all I really have for it. I tried this place for the first time today. There is a decent variety of vegetables here but the fruit selection is lacking.. just the basic fruits. No organic options availble. The aisles are very crowded when you use the buggy. And also they only accept credit and debit if your purchase is $5 minimum. I think I'll stick to T & T. read more

This place is great! I went on a Wednesday morning, and produce was fresh fresh fresh and cheap cheap cheap. They have lots of harder to find ingredients that the nearby T&T doesn't stock or does but at a high price. Great food stalls with mostly Vietnamese food and lots of veg options. Speaking of vegetarian options, there is a huge freezer FULL of mock meats. Cha lua chay, mock fish, mock duck, etc. Vegetarian dry goods as well. Everyone I encountered spoke great English and was very helpful. Yummy baked goods and takeaway (bring cash for those though). Will definitely patronise this store over others in the area for Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indonesian, and Filipino ingredients. Not super for Korean things though, although they do have some selection. Found Korean goods to be a bit steep in price. For variety and customer service, this place is top notch. read more

Heard complaints expired canned & foodstuff not removed from shelves. Things are expensive compared to T&T. Most Asian specialty goods could be bought at T&T too. read more
