Cool place for a henna tattoo if you are not ready to commit to the real thing. I saw they will even do a picture if you have one! My daughter and I decided to get matching tattoos for my birthday. UPDATE: I still have mine two weeks later!

Wow what an amazing experience !!! My two girls got tattoos and they turned out beautifully. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. I love how many designs they had to choose from. The attention to detail and thoughtfulness that went into my kiddos designs was very much appreciated. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for fun, beautiful and detailed henna tattoos. A++ to the staff !!!

Hennas are always fun to get especially if you cannot commit to a tattoo. We searched thru Lahaina Shops as there were several shops around dedicated to Henna. The first Henna shop we stopped at wasn't even busy and the girl unfortunately seemed uninterested in answering our questions and just plain lazy. We were determined to find a good Henna artist and as were were walking farther down we came across this amazing shop! Mia was our henna artist. She was kindhearted , answered our questions with confidence and knowledge, took care of us and made us feel welcome! Kudos to Mia for her Aloha Spirit, we truly appreciated it. My Henna lasted about two weeks. Look forward on getting another one in the future!

Please be advised Athena is a great artist and the type of ink she uses is Not the typical Henna ink, it has a different process than the henna tattoos we get in the states. Please be sure to follow the instructions and get a full understanding about the ink she uses. It will darken over time (8+ hours).

We actually planned on having my daughter's hair braided, but the braider wasn't there and so we went for jagua tattoos instead. Angel was super nice. I came in to try out a henna tattoo before I get the real thing. There was no one there when I arrived so I was helped right away. I showed the artist a picture of the design I wanted. She did the design free hand! She was so talented. My design was simple but I watched her do a more intricate design while I waited for my tattoo to dry. In addition to henna tattoos, they also do hair braids. The artist moved seamlessly between tattoo's and hair braids. She was very professional. She made sure everyone in the shop wore masks. I would definitely come back here again in the future.

Went here with my best friend to get matching tattoos! I don't remember her artist's name but my artist, Des, did a wonderful job. Super friendly and kind, the henna was quick and came out super cute! The prices are high, but, you totally get what you pay for. Both artists worked quick, did a good job, and were totally sweet. There's a few places in the area, but I totally recommend checking this place out!

Five stars for the artist that drew a sting ray and dragon on my boys legs when we first got to Maui! She was patient and creative and drew beautiful art pieces on their legs! Thank you sooo very much!! We loved it so much that we recommended other friends to get one too - and they stopped by and got two more beautiful pieces on their shoulder (dragon/yin yang) and flowery piece. Then as we were ending our trip, we stopped by again to get a few more henna tattoos, and the artist there was not very friendly and did a so-so job on my very simple henna (an arrow) and charged the same price as an intricate one my boys had a few days ago! She seemed so indifferent and wasn't warm or friendly - and preferred to just sit there without any business. Because of her ... I gave the overall experience 3 stars - instead of 5. Plus her drawing skills wasn't as good as the other artists! read more

As a local I can count on one hand how many times I've had henna. I hit the town with my girls and am drawn to the cutest little boutique, down a cobble stone path. A friendly smile greets me and soon enough I am receiving a henna tattoo from an incredibly talented artist named Angel. She made myself and my crew's experience an 11/10 and will definitely be stopping there every time I'm in Lahaina town! read more

My boys and I stopped in here on our last day in Maui. I love henna and was excited to get a tattoo! There were two ladies working, and they were super sweet. My boys each got a piece, and I did too. One artist was definitely way more experienced than the other as you can see by their work. These tattoos aren't permanent, but if they were we would have been really disappointed in the lack of quality of the third tattoo. If we ever go back to Maui, we will definitely come here again and get another piece. They also said for larger groups, they will come to your resort and do tattoos there! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because we weren't impressed with one tattoo, but the place is awesome, and the people working there were really sweet. read more

This place is very open and inviting. It's right on the water. You can grab a shave ice next door and enjoy it while getting your henna. Look for Geo - she is very talented and amazingly precise. You will walk out of there with a masterpiece on your skin. read more

Stopped by last week with my niece and looked around for about 5 mins without anyone acknowledging we were even there, just seemed like a bunch of young girls more concerned with chatting with their friends. Beautiful Jagua and Henna! Savannah, the artist, was so sweet and very specific on everything she answered all my questions. They add essential oils to the Henna and Jagua so it smells wonderful. This was the last place I thought I would find myself, but my sons wanted to get hennas of a dragon on vacation. They have many categories to choose from and the quality of their artists and product are very good. I took one star away because they were not very engaging to me or my kids. They actually seemed a bit sad. That being said-they did an excellent job and I highly recommend their service. In the unlikely event I need another Henna and find myself in Hawaii-I will most certainly return! read more

Kids found this lounge and really wanted to get one each. Savannah was great working with the kids to find the right tattoo and modify to fit our budget. A great memory to take home from our Hawaii trip. We came back the day before our departure to touch up their tattoos for lasting memories and had Sonya add another on my daughters hand. I love getting my hennas from here! This is my second time in Maui and I had to come back! While a little pricey, it's super worth it. The artists free hand the designs beautifully and the duality is amazing! They last from 8-15 days and the dye is made from fruit so is all natural...great place! read more

My teenager is totally into this. I had a bit of sticker shock when I saw the prices--$80 for a hand and finger design--but as the sign says GOOD TATTOOS ARE NOT CHEAP, CHEAP TATTOOS ARE NOT GOOD. Fair enough. We compromised and found a design she liked for $50. I'm not sure how long it's going to last with all the sunscreen and salt water but I can speak for the artistry--Jen free handed the exact design and it was perfection. Really talented. I also saw Nicole do a tribal hammerhead shark and that was pretty impressive too. They give you 50% off if you save your receipt and come back for a touch up within a week. Update: few days in and it's looking pretty spectacular. A cool blue green instead of the usually brownish orange. Love it!!! read more

I must start out by saying that I don't have any real tattoos, neither does my wife, but we were on vacation and our son (13) thought it would be cool to get a henna tattoo. We looked on Yelp and found this place and decided to check it out. It's a tiny little storefront but perfect for what they do. When we got there Becca was finishing up a hair braid for a customer and welcomed us in. She did a great job of engaging us while still tending to her other customer. When it was our turn she helped us to design our own custom designs (she likes "getting paid to doodle on people" she said!) and three of us walked out in 2 hours with the best looking (temporary) tattoos! (We tried really hard but could not convince our youngest to get one... more on that later.) Becca was a gem - totally friendly and attentive and a great conversationalist with lots of interesting stories to tell! I'm not sure what any of the other artists are like, but I'd be fine having her again, if we go back to get that 4th family member a henna. In summary, Becca was awesome, the place is perfect, and the price was great! Would go again... (I think we're on our way there right now!) read more

The Henna Lounge is amazing! Becca did an awesome job on an oak tree on my thigh. I wanted an "H" intertwined in the branches and she freehanded everything beautifully. Our business specializes in Freehand Henna and Jagua Tattoos. We provide a cozy, relaxing, indoor experience- out of the sun with friendly company. We are the only indoor temporary tattoo location on maui's south side. All of our artists are experienced and curated with intention, to provide the best art for you and a lovely experience. While we love doing our tattoos, we offer professional braiding as well as hair wraps. Our braids can come in many different shapes and sizes! Such as cornrows, box braids or just French braids! First - I had a special photo of my son and I (from when he was 4) that I was hoping to recreate on his wedding day. Anna actually brought the photo on the day and they took so many photos, and were so painstaking to even get the hand and body positions perfect. I will cherish the photo that they created! On the day - the team showed up well before our event, and they even mounted flashes up high, around the space (inconspicuously), so there would be enough light at our outdoor venue. They took pictures of everything - the layout, the flowers, and then they captured everyone's expressions as they arrived, and all of the laughter and love during the evening. We have received over a thousand photos, and I have no idea how we will choose - they are all stunning. Throughout the process, Anna was quick to set up Zoom calls (we were off-island and in another time zone!), and quick to respond to emails personally and promptly. She was warm and personable throughout, just a truly kind person to work with. Her team members are all very kind, energetic (!) and eager to do whatever is requested. I wish we could hire Anna and her team for all our events!

I first stumbled upon the Henna Lounge while out and about with some family visiting the Westside. It was at this point that the extremely knowledgeable and polite artist ,appropriately named Angel, walked up to my group and offered her services. Honestly I was kind of in a hurry having a Lahaina day of adventures but Angel was so enthusiastic about her craft it was quite infectious. She quickly caught the attention of my neice who was mesmerized as Angel described to her in detail the mermaid she would soon have on her arm. My niece was so happy she was bursting with joy and the mermaid was so realistic that it literally could have jumped of my niece's arm and swam away into the Pacific ocean. Me and my family were so impressed with our Henna artist's skills that we each decided to get a tattoo as well to commemorate our trip together. Angel really made an impact on my families vacation and I'd absolutely recommend her to anyone coming to Maui looking for a memorable activity to do with your family or anyone who just wants a badass piece of art that will last a lifetime in their memory. She certainly is one of a kind and I hope she is available for my cousins birthday in November when the rest of my family comes to visit. Epic is an understatement to the detail Angel was able to put into our Henna art in such a small amount of time. Kudos to her and whoever hired her seeing her artistic potential! read more

I came in hoping to grab a quick henna before heading back home for Christmas, without many expectations. A worker named Jamie (not sure how she likes her name spelled) greeted me at the entrance and was very open to the tattoo I wanted, even though it wasn't an option in the catalog the lounge provides. She did a great job with the tattoo and I was beyond satisfied. Jamie was a very kind, relatable, and enthusiastic artist. It's obvious that Jamie puts her heart into every one of her pieces, and I'm glad I got the chance to meet her. I definitely recommend anyone who is hoping to get a fantastic quality henna tattoo to check out Maui Henna Lounge and I promise you won't be let down. WOW! My daughter saw temporary tattoos for sale at the whaler's village mall and when I asked, I was rudely told they start at $45 (START!). Not sure the name of that company, but 45? No way. Later in our vacation, we were getting shave ice and my daughter saw henna lounge and begged once again. Assuming the pricing would be the same, I said no, but after our snack, I talked to the saleswoman who informed me the pricing starts a $20. My daughter got an adorable turtle and flower with bubbles for $30 and is so excited to show her friends at school next week. The entire process took less than 15 minutes. Go see Angel--you'll get a great tattoo and expert advice for other activities to check out on the island. read more

I took my two daughters here today to fix a henna job done down the road at Lahaina Henna Tattoos and Hair Braiding. The artist at Henna Lounge was much friendlier with my young daughters and also took the time to do a much better job. Would definitely come here first next time. Only downside with both is how extremely expensive they were ($25 for a simplistic design). Back in Canada, we can get henna done for a fraction of the price, and there are always long line-ups to get in. Maybe these artists would be busier if they lowered their prices a bit. read more

Henna lounge is AWESOME! We went as an ohana Valentine's event and Nicole did a fantastic job on our henna art on each of our hands. Her artistic ability is something to behold, all freestyle and came out better than the pictures we picked out. Prices are reasonable and way worth it! It is day 3 and our art is as vibrant as ever. I was waiting in line for shave ice when I saw a girl getting a tattoo at henna lounge. The art was so incredible I decided to get one myself. The artist said she could draw any photo so I used google to show her a photo of a tattoo im considering getting for real. She did such a great job and now I definitely want to get this permanent. It's an octopus holding a compass and there is a ton of detail. 10/10 go see Angel she's the best! read more

Was so impressed with Angel - she was managing multiple requests at once. She was was quick and did an awesome job. She was very friendly and accommodating to requests. She modified a picture we had seen and even touched up a henna tattoo we had done there earlier in the week. We were walking around old town Lahaina and saw this cute little henna shop. We went in and there was no wait. I told the girl what I wanted and she did it right away. She had me sit by a fan so that it would be harder to mess up if you touched it. She gave great instructions on how to make your henna last longer. I would definitely recommend this henna shop. Geo and Becca where amazing, they did great work super professional. They kept clean work places, along with great advice, really helpful local input to out of state travelers, while they had people waiting in line, they made sure you didn't feel rushed, but kept those waiting in line involved in conversation. This place is located in the same cobblestone alley as ululani's shaved ice so you can get your tattoo and treat all at once! My family all got spooky tattoos for Halloween and Angel did awesome; we couldn't believe how fast she drew. My littlest even got glitter on her pumpkin. read more
