She's right there! This was my first trip to Maui, but my husband who just turned 49 came to Maui for a summer semester when he was 19 and came home with a tattoo of a Hawaiian petroglyph figure on his left shoulder blade. I always said if we went to Maui together, I'd get the same tattoo ... flash forward 12 years and I'm way less interested in that tattoo but for all the sentimental reasons, I went on a hunt to find a henna artist to bring my hubby's three decade old ink to life on my shoulder! It turned out SO GOOD!! And Sarah is a gem of a human that is so fun to hang with, and excellent at her craft. I LOVE my henna! And it feels so amazing when she's "doodling" on your skin, I wish I could've stayed for a munch bigger treatment! Thank you Sarah! Anytime I'm in Maui, I'll definitely visit her!

The shop opens at 10. Our appt wasn't until 1030 but because someone was late, they took our 1030 appt. That person showed up and was next. Our 11 appt was early as she was done before our time. We got done 3 minutes before 11. Our girls were happy with their hennas. This place is inside the Westin next to the shaved ice shop. Parking is free for guests. Park and take a walk through valet, take a right, then left towards beach. She's in about the center. *putting down directions because our GPS sent us to the hotel rooms and we had to ask for directions from employees. read more

Sarah is as bright a gem as the crystals and jewelry she sells in her boutique. Her artistry is evident in the way she worked with me to create and patiently apply my tattoos. What she calls "doodling" is a work of art that I will wear for however long it lasts on my skin, but forever in my mind's eye. I purchased a lovely necklace from a local artist that she carries in her shop on a regular basis. I don't when, but I'll be back to create more magic to wear in the future. Thank you, Sarah, for your patience and generous spirit! Word to the wise: pay attention and follow her instructions about the care of your tattoos. We had a wonderful experience here on our last day in Maui! This beautiful and charming little shop is tucked away in the Westin vacation club. IMHO I always get a…read morehenna or jagua temporary tattoo when I'm in Maui. I had difficulty finding an artist and/or the price I wanted to pay before the end of my trip. Thankfully, I found Mir or Nir at the Henna Lounge at the Kihei Kalama Village, one of my favorite places to cruise and shop! I always choose the same tattoo and had a picture as reference for him. I asked how much it would cost, and he quoted $35. It was still more than I am used to paying for this small hand tattoo, but since it was near the end of my trip, I decided now was the time! (Normally I pay $20.) Mir and I had a nice chat while he created my tattoo, in this cute little comfy studio. My daughter and her friends walked in a short time later and also decided to have a tattoo created. My tip for your tattoo placement is to choose an area where there will be minimal bending. I had mine on the back of my hand and the design crossed the skin where my wrist bent. If you accidentally bend it while the design is drying, there is a good chance it will bleed. Mine did, but Mir fixed it. Next time, I will have the design moved up a little bit. Mir was a delight and very accommodating.

I was charged $89 for this which felt a little high but I would have been fine with it if it came out correctly. He used a ink stencil to trace the design and I think the ink has still -- three days later not come off. It's not only smeared the design but is also rubbing off onto other surfaces and skin (I slept on my hand today and have this design on my face now). On top of that the henna design itself is very shakey looking and not clean at all. Also side note: I get henna often so I know how to properly care for it. I let it dry and cared for it just as directed. Over all unhappy with it. I don't normally feel like a refund is warranted but I really do at this point.
