What a great place! To start,it's gorgeous with the beautiful high ceilings, chandeliers, floors and woodwork. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. The service each time I was there was flawless. Food delicious and reasonably priced. Have tried the chicken and brie sandwich, crab cakes, BLT, and Guinness Beef stew. Also their fries and potato wedges were delicious. And, I can vouch for the authenticity of their Irish coffee. Definitely check it out.

Relaxing place with good food and a friendly atmosphere.

Relaxing place with tasty food and a friendly atmosphere. The place is very clean and has a large selection of drinks and large screen televisions with American sports like the NBA.

Such excellent customer service.. the drinks were superb with the food to match 10/10!! I had the garlic shrimp with the crab cakes and they did not disappoint. I had an Irish cream shot along with two mango mojitos. I dipped the bread in the garlic butter from the shrimp and it was insanely delicious garlic bread. I will definitely go back to try the duck egg rolls and salmon pasta.

We'd heard great things about Hennessey's from many ex-pats we know in Merida. Typically we head straight for local foods when we travel, but it's always nice to have a break to more familiar foods. With COVID-19, we tend to only eat outdoors. While walking Paseo Montejo, we'd seen Henessey's several times and that they offered plenty of physically distant outdoor seating, checked temperatures, and offered hand sanitizer. The outdoor space has a very relaxed beer garden type atmosphere. We also popped our heads inside, and the big dark wood bar and decor shout Irish pub! One of the things we noticed is that in addition to dining there and taking out, they offered a good selection of pre-made frozen items to go. Our server Omar was very kind and patient with our attempts at speaking Spanish. He shared a QR code to scan for their menu and took our order for drinks. We started with a glass of Merlot and a glass of Pinot Grigio (95 pesos each). My husband decided on a Cesar Salad (120 pesos) as a starter, surprisingly large, and had a very tasty Cesar Dressing. I tried the Duck Spring Roll (148 pesos). I was surprised by three crunchy deep-fried Spring Rolls, cut in half and filled with lots of shredded tender Duck meat. The two dipping sauces were very flavorful - one sweeter and one with a little bite to it. For our entrees, we headed straight for traditional Irish Pub fare. My husband ordered the Fish and Chips (175 pesos). The order came with two big pieces of crispy battered White Fish, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It also had a nice portion of Potaoe Wedges, ColeSlaw, and Cocktail and Tartar Sauce's sides. I ordered the Shepherds Pie (185 pesos). The tower of Shepherds Pie layered Ground Beef with Peas and Carrots, topped with chunky Mashed Potatoes and Cheddar Cheese. It came with a small side salad and some Mushroom Gravy. - it was delicious and a good size portion. For my taste wish it had been a bit warmer. Overall we loved Hennessey's and hope to come back and enjoy a pint and some more great food. Here are the approximate prices for the times we ordered in US dollars at the conversation rate when we were there. Glass of Merlot / Pinot Grigio: $4.72 each Cesar Salad: $5.97 Duck Spring Rolls: $7.36 Fish and Chips: $8.70 Shepherds Pie: $9.20

The Texas board. Really good jalapeño poppers and steak enchilada.

Really nice Irish Pub in the middle of Mérida. We asked some people sitting at the bar what food is good and they said everything. They were right. We sat outside on a beautiful March evening. I started with a Tecate and my wife got a Gin and tonic. Cold mug with my beer. I had the fish and chips and my wife got the Texas board. My fish was perfectly fried and the chips crispy. The tarter sauce was really good addition to both the fish and the chips. My wife liked her board. We split the two really big jalapeño poppers and she enjoyed her steak enchilada and quesadilla. The guacamole was good. Great service and good prices for all we ate.

Maybe it's because good pub food is so rare in Mexíco. Maybe it's because I was buzzed. And maybe they really were just incredibly well executed. The wings were crisp on the outside. The sauce was exactly like back in the states. The meat inside was juicy and fall-apart. And there was only a very slight note of the poultry gameyness smell common in Mexican poultry. This spot had excellent wings. They're small. But they're good.

We came through a couple of days later because it came highly HIGHLY recommended by Big Bro. So, I was more curious than anything. Another reason I came through is to try their kibi's. (It topped my Yelp search when looking for this particular grub.) We wanted to get drinks as well since it was a hot and humid day! Pina colada for me, brewskis for Hubbers. We put in an order for the kibis because that's main reason I came through. Drinks came through, and then... mini plates of snacks, oh, WHAT! La botana, is what they call them. Whew, didn't plan on eating more than the kibis, but I welcomed it! It was a pretty good variety, too: there were sausages, pork skin, jicama and some sort of salad. Staff told us if we wanted refills on any or all of them, to let them know and they'd be more than happy to comply. Kibis finally came through, and I have to admit that I was disappointed. Not only did they lack taste, but they were also hard. They may have been overcooked which most likely contributed to the lack of flavor. Initial thought in mind were hockey pucks. Chewing through one was a challenge that I didn't bother going for a second. (It was practically inedible.) The guac, pico de gallo and sauce were great, but didn't do much for the pucks. Hubbers really liked it, though, so there's at least that. FOOD: 2. SERVICE: 4. I noticed staff mostly just hanging out together at the bar, but they were excellent at being mindful of guests. VALUE: 3. 5 for las botanas, 1 for the kibis. PARKING: Street only. It will be a challenge, for sure. OVERALL: 3. FUN FACT: They are the second oldest cantina in Merida (opened in 1917.) I learned the place is far livelier at night when they have bands performing. Someday, maybe...? Not a one-and-done, but it'll be a long minute before a second visit, if at all.

We came through mid-afternoon and we agreed to keep our orders as minimum as possible since we had a big family meet for dinner not too long after this stop. We were seated immediately. The first thing that caught my attention was the interior decor. There's so much to see in every nook and cranny. Their primary theme gives off the dia de los muertos vibe: the skeletons on the wall riding on bikes, one as a passenger of that side truck, even the paintings. They got creative! There is plenty to look at. It was hot and humid so Hubbers started of with a brewski. I went for their version of pina colada. Very refreshing, and the candied straw added to their creativity. Hubbers and I agreed to get one thing and one thing only: chicharron de rib eye. Now I know cooking rib eye well done is a huge no-no, but they managed to cook this almost to a mild crisp, and yet it was packed with flavor. The meat was on top of a very well-seasoned guac and wrap it all up with fresh tortilla and pickled onions and... WOW. It truly was the perfect merienda. Hubbers and I couldn't get enough. We didn't snarf it down or anything like that. We took our time and savored all its flavor and texture. YUM! (Yep. We ate it all! And we don't regret it either!) FOOD: 5.
