The accommodations are incredibly tasteful. It's a good mix of antiques and contemporary luxury, with top notch bedding and beautiful, completely remodeled bathrooms. The breakfast room is charming and the breakfast was our best breakfast in England! The fresh homemade jam is not to be missed! The staff was excellent and very accommodating, even offering breakfast a half hour early one morning so we could eat before our early departure.

Definitely in a league if it's own, in Bath. The hotel itself was fascinating and very classic and beautiful. The restaurant where you have the tea is in the grounds and the scenery is just stunning. Lush greenery everywhere and beautiful flowers, and just the most beautiful setting for a very classy British tea. We all opted for the Coronation high tea, and I added a glass of champagne, because why not! We all picked our teas from an extensive list. I had the masala chai which was a nice take on the Indian chai with spices . Others had granny's garden, morning dew and the yunnan black tea. Lots of different colors! The champagne was also lovely! The tiered plates came with lots of delicious bites, the finger sandwiches were awesome, they had smoked salmon, the classic cucumber, egg salad, roast beef, and we opted for some vegetarian ones too, the roasted red pepper , basil and lemon hummus was my favorite. The plum tomato chutney also really good, and there was a guacamole, dill and lime one. You get unlimited amounts of finger sandwiches! The bread was so nice and grainy and soft. The array of sweet treats was mind boggling. Cakes, pastries, scones with real clotted cream and jam! Bath buns, specialty of the area Kinda really loved the scones and bath buns. The cute chocolate crown on the brownie was adorable and delicious. Everything here was just fabulous. Such a fun afternoon experience with my high school friends. Every square inch was spotless, and a private car park made it worth the safe and scenic 5-minute downhill walk to the town center. The hospitality was friendly, welcoming, personable, yet also professional. Huzzy and I agreed: we would come back to Bath just to stay here! When we arrived at the 139 in Bath, we were shown to the waiting room and served a nice beverage. The host knew exactly who we were and addressed us by name. We felt welcomed. The room was comfortable and beautiful- very classic in look. We had a great sleep on the bed, like I mentioned- comfortable room! Squeamish skip this paragraph... When I arrived in Bath I was deep into my trip and short on socks. The sock bag in my suitcase had reached critical mass and was going to be a new kind of 'Dirty Bomb'. When asked if the 139 had a washer and dryer, they said of course. They braved the bag. I got my socks back the next morning, folded. Thanks! Breakfast the next morning was wonderful- fresh eggs, great bacon, crunchy and chewy bread (ok so I'm not a food writer). Lots more options than a traditional eggs and bacon breakfast were available. Thanks 139 for a wonderful experience. It's been a couple years since we stayed, but the memory is fresh in my mind.

She personally walked us to our room and showed us around. She made dinner reservations for us at a 5 star restaurant. Dinner was unbelievably delicious. We did not make it for breakfast but I sure it would have been good as well. We checked out and she let us keep our parking pass so we could walk without paying for parking in the city. Despite the freezing temperatures outside the hotel was warm and inviting. Large spacious rooms with full central heating, many with views over the city. Spotlessly clean. Our hosts were friendly and efficient and the breakfast was excellent and included croissants, fresh fruit salad, toast with various spreads available and of course full english cooked breakfast. More expensive than some in the area but otherwise hard to fault. Would happily return if visiting Bath again.

We opted for the full English breakfast, which was perfect, and the hot chocolates that were specially prepared for my daughter and myself were an added treat. Service was friendly and we enjoyed conversing with the breakfast staff. Dorian House is a about a 10 minute walk outside of the center of Bath, and although we had read other reviews about people who found climbing the hill challenging, it really wasn't very difficult at all. Free parking is available at Dorian House which was awesome since Bath charges a fee for driving in the clean air zone. Our stay was perfect and I would definitely stay here again.

This is one of the best hotels out there…read more The location is fabulous - right in the heart of Bath's City Centre. Everything is in walking distance. The indoor pool is immaculate, spacious and an oasis to soak your tired bones from all the sight seeing and relax and decompress. It's 70 GBP for a day pass, but free for hotel guests during the hours from 8-10am and 7-9pm. Take advantage of it, it's wonderful. The restaurant is top notch. Tables are spaced nicely so you can have an intimate meal. The wine/bubbly are on display in the center of the room. There's a fireplace for those cozy moments. The continental breakfast is next level --- so many pastries, deli meats, cheese, salmon/lox, 5 different fresh juices, porridge (oatmeal) made to order with either milk or water, cereals, yogurts, fresh fruits and more. Comes with toast (brown, white or mix). Wonderful decadent butter (both salted or unsalted), tasty local honey and jams. Rich, robust coffee to help you start your day. The service is friendly, prompt and non intrusive. You can savor your morning, never feeling rushed. You do need to select a breakfast time in advance at check in, but it's well worth it. The facilities is quaint. Gave off modern vibes and reminded me of the Oxbow in Bend or the Atticus in McMinville (both Oregon boutique hotels). They also have a special scent made specifically for this location - you walk in and immediately feel transported to fall - warm spices, apple cinnamon. It envelopes you and sets the tone for the stay. The room is spacious, well laid out and has the best amenities. Elemis, well stocked refrigerator, etc. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. While I saw all the major sites and ate amazing food, I'd want to come back to Bath just to stay here again. It's that's amazing.
