The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa is situated in one of the most famous crescents in the world. Designed by the architect John Wood the Younger, the Royal Crescent was built between 1767 and 1774. Occupying Houses 15 & 16 of the Crescent - Number 16 The Royal Crescent became a guest house in 1950 and in 1973 it was combined with House 15 to create The Royal Crescent Hotel. The hotel has had 3 previous owners before being acquired by Topland Group. The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa went through an extensive refurbishment throughout all 45 rooms and suites, function and public rooms, the kitchen and one acre of private gardens, this was completed in April 2014. Jane Clayton was the Interior Designer and Alison Jenkins the Landscape Designer. Alison went on to design the Tattinger Spa Garden in July 2015. In April 2016 The Garden Villa's own walled garden was redeveloped, enabling residential guests, wedding parties and corporate clients to make full use of the area. The Spa & Bath House had a complete makeover in May 2016, bringing it in line with the rest of the hotel and its facilities. The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa's suites are named after famous guests who have stayed there. Amongst the most famous was Prince Frederick, Duke of York, the favourite son of King George III and the reason why the Royal Crescent achieved it's regal title. Frederick is best remembered in the nursery rhyme 'The Grand old Duke of York' which charters his humilating defeat at Flanders against the armies of revolutionary French in 1773.

If the architecture alone for The Royal Crescent doesn't draw you in when on a visit to Bath, then let the high tea in the garden convince you. I did not personally stay at the hotel, but I did go to the garden for tea one afternoon, and after having several other disappointing experiences with tea in the UK, I was so happy to have paid a visit to The Royal Crescent. The staff was lovely, and the environment was elevated and chic. The weather was absolutely perfect (end of May), and could have stayed in the garden all day. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for a weekend in the classic Elizabeth Linley suite. The staff were very polite and helpful especially when we were checking in. However when we got in our suite we were not very pleased as it looked like it was really ready for a refurb. The t.v was way too small, the bed coverings and the bed head very stained and the room had a very distinct odour which I suspected was coming from the restaurant down stairs. The breakfast was good enough. We used the bath house which was not too bad, my fiancé enjoyed the pool and I did not mind the steam room. All in all a nice stay but perhaps a bit expensive.

The shower is beautifully tiled, but it's hard to figure out how to turn on the shower and there are no bars to hold on to. I started to stand there (since there's glass closest to the faucet control, & adjust the hot/cold control, while getting a cold shower above). 2. The bed is completely covered up so tightly like a package. I twist a nerve on my wrist, trying to un-do the comforters, so I can get inside, and it got too hot during the night, that I ended up sleeping partly outside of my covers, I guest I went too far and I also uncovered part of the fitted sheet as part of my covers, it is no wonder, MY COVERS are too heavy & thick! 3. Several of us, our rooms weren't ready when we entered the hotel, our Tour Director weren't happy about that! UPDATE: See photo. 4. The closet is heated, so while rushing out to catch the bus, I put on my heated-coat, it was giving me hot flushes as we walked down the elevator to the bus, in a sweaty-smelly cranky mood! Other than that, the lights in the bathroom, the decor, the view from our room, they're just perfect, even the chairs, the cushion, the Elle June issue, and tea selections, I just learned the proper way of drinking tea the British way, yeah! We ate here twice for breakfast & twice for dinner, the 2nd night a huge crowd and the staff were hard at work even though we could tell they were understaffed. Food were delicious! BTW: We're not very close to the beach, but there are plenty of seagulls and you could hear them, they're annoying!

Shades in the room were too small for the window, so rise and shine with the first am seagull cry! That is, if you slept at all with the beams of streetlamps coming in at all angles. Free "Roman Baths" experience - smell exactly what the ancient people did within your sleeping quarters! Free "B & B" like feel! And the B's are for: Burglary or Break-ins...because the door to the room closes at the top, but by the time you get half way down the door-wheeeee! - it doesn't meet the casing. At. All. Free chiropractic reference on enquiry at the front desk clerk - due to the slip and fall you may have if you dont ask for a rubber bath mat before entering the shower, or from craning your neck to see the late news on the TV realllllllllllllly off center on the wall away from the bed (rather than directly across, where there are curious "art pieces" hanging) or, from tripping in the night to and from the bathroom on the odd step area on one wall close to one side and the-end-of the bed. Maybe hiding pipes or cords or the smell-o-vision tubes? A mini runner-platform-stage for local comic talent? Who knows why the step is there?! Sigh. The location is GRAND. The staff are quite lovely, really. The breakfast was decent and coffee was actually nice.

Second, the location and views are great. You can walk to so many good shops and restaurants, but the hotel itself is on a quiet street that has a neighborhood feel. Third, the attention to detail is immaculate. Radio set of perfect music when you arrive? Check. Antique brass keys? Check. Luggage handlers who are so polite you feel like you're a member of royalty? Check. A helpful sightseeing guide for fans of Bridgerton? Check. I really cannot emphasize enough how amazing the hotel and staff were. I arrived sweaty and covered in literal mud from a cross country hike feeling incredibly out of place in such a gorgeous hotel and the staff made me feel like I was arriving at my own home. I loved this hotel so much I wish I had extended my time in Bath specifically so I could enjoy this beautiful property for a few extra days. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING SPOT.

First time staying at a five star hotel and while the amenities (free parking, breakfast included)…read morewere great (especially given that there is no parking in bath), the service of all the waitresses/waiters lacking. Maybe it's because most, if not all them were really young but they didn't seem to have things all together. For instance when we went outside for an afternoon tea, the waitress forgot to fold napkins for us and gave us them pretty much half way to the end of our tea. It didn't bother me but it's something I definitely noticed. At a certain point we had to seek out waitstaff to get our final plate of scones and another cup. In another instance, a member of waitstaff totally got an order wrong (asked for one cup of tea but ended up with an entire pot) but we didn't want to bother them by correcting them. It's something that can easily be corrected with better training but for a five star hotel this should not be happening constantly. As for the room, loved it and especially the bathtub in the spacious bathroom. The tv had a HDMI and USB port which was really fun. Also the spa was included in the visit which was nice to experience, though the ice room was lacking. I loved my stay and this is just me frankly being nit picky because of the hotel being five star but NONE of these things made my experience any less enjoyable or memorable. It was a super relaxing stay in bath. I would come back LOL

Great location in historical house by Pulteney Bridge…read more We stayed in a suite for a couple nights. The suite had two bedrooms, which was nice for a family, but being a Georgian house, there were quirks. The floors were very uneven, to the point that I would feel vertiginous walking around. The bathroom had uneven water pressure where the temperature fluctuated wildly, and there was not enough counter space for 4 people. There was a nice sitting room but definitely not enough closet space. However, the location is so lovely. It's about a block from the Pulteney Bridge and also a block from a full sized Waitrose. It's a short walk to the train station, Bath Abbey, and the Roman Baths. Staff is friendly and generally competent. The front desk staff was a little confused and slow, and, while the rooms were generally clean, I don't advise that guests look under the beds or behind the furniture, as those are very dusty (ick). I love that they leave biscuits to go with tea daily and that they actually replenish everything on a daily basis. Those biscuits were life savers for my jetlagged children whose stomachs were not yet on UK time. I contacted the hotel a couple times before we arrived. They were not able to help with arranging for a babysitter (they told me to Google "Bath" and "babysitter"), but they did give me good information about a wheelchair rental for my husband. I would consider returning here on a future visit.

No room for their luggage. Not even enough room in the bathroom to use the toilet. Poor lighting as well. Our room was not clean, light bulbs were out, used bottles of shampoo, no body wash, caps on the shower floor, refrigerator not working and there was no air circulation. I had to wear shoes around the room after I saw what my socks looked like after walking on the floor with only socks. We were better off sleeping in the hall. They must have problems with that room, because there was already a portable fan in the room, which it merely moved warm air around. There was no proper walkway for a normal person to get to the bureau, which also had coffee on it never mind someone who has a disability or a wheelchair. Plenty of lighting in our room, though, even with missing bulbs! Breakfast food was ok. It was too complicated to sit at or around the bar in the evening. Two different buildings, too. One building had many rooms, bar, checkin, breakfast, etc, but there was a completely different building that was close, but not close enough to be convenient when you need ice or talk to staff when need something for the room. The wifi is absolutely horrible in the 2nd building. It never worked. Needed to use data or stand by the door to the room to get a bar of wifi. The main building had no issues with the wifi. If you are traveling with someone and need separate beds, DO NOT stay here. They'll give you a cot for the 2nd person to sleep on. They do have good security with the front doors, but that's the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. They only offer breakfast. No other food during any other time of the day. Radisson needs to get their act together. I very strongly do NOT recommend staying here.
