The staff on the 2nd floor of the west wing were amazing...! The RN's, NA's, Case Worker and Food Services were always professional and caring, to my neighbor/friend who was a patient there for 28 days... My mom was admitted to the ER for a bad fall with broken bones. She was well taken care of the entire time and her nurse Derek was professional and attentive and took his time with her. We had questions and he had the answers. She definitely had top notch care in the ER. She was moved to ICU in the north building, and again she had top notch care with attentive and helpful nurses. The doctors that saw her were all very nice and explained what was going on and answered any questions we had. The north building is the newest addition to the hospital and the rooms are very nice. She then was discharged from ICU and moved to the ortho floor to await the insurance authorization for in patient therapy. The rooms are definitely older and not quite as nice. I didn't like that the couch and tray table felt sticky, probably from being cleaned so often. Her end of the bed was broken but it didn't affect anything as far as her care. She grew tired of the hospital food and at times some of it was cold. The food services department seemed to be well run and organized and everyone was pleasant and courteous. We liked that they came directly to the room on this particular floor to take her orders for lunch, dinner and breakfast. Housekeeping did a nice job of keeping her room clean. All in all, it was a decent stay for her. P.S. if you have the My Chart app on your phone, you receive the test results as soon as they're posted which is very helpful. read more

Volumes could be written by the lack of humanity and an incredulous location almost totally devoid of civility, care for human suffering, and staff interaction which I chatacterize as all actors in a hospital drama that forget their lines and lost the plot long ago. Most notable is the ER which is at once appalling and vapid in its incompetence, tone-deafness, and economy for what REALLY matters when you are tasked with attending to real humans, not corpses, or testing dummies to practice on. The whole enterprise from Chicago down is in dire need of reform but this location and entrance is especially atrocious in distinction and what loosely passes for care. All this embodies and parodies the meaning of "We are Henry". One might find more humanity at a Veternary Clinic. read more

Came here with heart pain after a quadruple heart pass surgery. Was told by my surgeons office to come here. Been seen as soon as I got here and had an EKG, sent back to the lobby still with pressure pain on my heart, been sitting here for 3 hours. My husband had a procedure done here. From my experience as a family member waiting in the surgery lounge this place is absolutely great. The waiting area is comfortable. Lots of spaces to sprawl out for hours. They gave me a voucher for a free coffee. The ladies working in the gift shop were friendly and funny. The guys working at the coffee bar were polite and professional. All the staff that we / I interacted with throughout the visit was professional, friendly, kind, and helpful. They all had smiles on their faces and were very welcoming. This is so strange to me because I'm used to hospitals being miserable places. I literally sighed when I pulled into the parking spot and said out loud "I hate hospitals". Well this place has definitely made me realize that hospitals aren't ALL terrible, miserable, and sad places. I will definitely opt for Henry Ford Macomb whenever I have a choice. read more

I went to this ER on New Year's Day. I was barely able to breathe. I have extreme PTSD and require my daughter with me in stressful situations. They refused to let her come back or let me wait with her it the waiting room. The nurse was terse and dismissed my needs with "You are fine." as she walked by. When a doctor came to speak to me, he began yelling at me. I had to ask him to stop. I finally walked out and my daughter took me home. Later we went to another ER where they almost put me on a resperator and said they had never heard someone as wheezy as I was. They had to give me five breathing treatments before I could get a breath in. They admitted me, of course. I will Never go to this ER again! read more

If i could give it negative stars i would. This place is horrible. Rude, unprofessional and not helpful at all. Go anywhere but here, they simply dont care. Had the person i was with literally pass out in the ER waiting room and all they did was come and ask if they were ok after calling them for a few minutes. Then, after literally 5 hours later, took them to the back to see the doctor, doctor didn't arrive until about an hour and a half later. Put them on a IV that took them almost an hour to get to us, didnt check on us 1 time throughout the 5 hours of being in the back, took an hour after the IV finished for the nurse to take it off and another 2 hours waiting for the doctor to come back and take out the part in your arm that connects to the IV. Absolutely the worst place, you'll pass away before they help you then maybe come ask if you're ok. read more

Wish I could leave no stars. Will never go back to this hospital again. Horrible experience. Staff is horrible,so rude , and no empathy for the patients coming in. Waited in the ER for almost 6 hours and was never called back. Waiting room was full of people. The whole 6 hours they called back 2 people, meanwhile saw at least 15+ people leave the ER who had been seen, not to mention when the ER doors opened you could see open rooms. The front desk people refuse to tell you how long wait is or to give you any further details. People were leaving left and right . ( mind you the ER parking lot wasn't even filled... and I have been to this hospital before when they've actually been busy and was called back within a couple hours.) There were children with fevers of 104 and children puking whose parents ended up leaving after hours and hours of waiting. My mother and many others with heart conditions waiting hours and hours and never being seen. We ended up leaving and going to Mt Clemens general. Wish we would have gone there first. There was no wait and we got right into a room. Not to mention the staff was friendly and helpful. We also saw 3 other people getting put into rooms who had also been waiting 5+ hours at the other hospital where we just were. Completely Unacceptable Henry Ford!!! I waited another 2 hours just to be told about their mistake, then had to do a second ultrasound and wait an additional hour just to hear the results. The most recent visit to the ER (and 2 other previous visits) were awful, and unacceptable. The nurse was uncaring and unkind with my husband, who was in a crisis and in critical care. His blood pressure was extremely high, he had vision problems, and additionally dizzyness. He had visited the restroom a few times and the nurse didn't even hook him back up to the monitor. It seems as though it would be risky not to have him hooked up to the monitor to track the blood pressure. In addition, we were not able to see a doctor, after several requests. Only speaking on my behalf, coming in from McClaren mount Clemens ER, which was a horrendous 14 HOUR, (last 7 hours I was "lost" in a consult room THEY put me in) visit. From registration (8:30am) to bring out in a room, seeing a doc, all done in under an hour. The staff was ALL wonderful. A little slow on ice water but I know they're busy so I remedied that myself & a family member brought me a pack of bottled water. (I was there 3 days before transferring to Henry Ford Detroit) That would be the only bad thing to say. The food was actually good, no lie. They have a big menu that you get to pick from. This will be my first choice hospital from now on. McClaren was closest to my house & that's the only reason I even started off there. Gave Henry Ford Macomb 4 stars not 5, only because you are restricted to your room or walking around the floor you're on. The Detroit extension is way different. As a patient, You can go on the main floor, walk around, shop, buy food etc. As long as you're healthy. I was waiting for surgery on floor 4 read more

After staying 8 hours and never seeing the nurse once the entire shift , when leaving after being exhausted from my loved ones condition, she asked me "couldn't I stay bc she has a lot of other patients to take care of. Worst hospital experience ever. My 88 year old mother was brought in by ambulance and we ended up spending almost 5 hours in the ER before admitting her. She was in a bed in the hallway where everyone can hear all personal info... zero privacy!! My Mom started off on the 3rd floor where staff was kind but it took way to long for someone to draw blood, bring water, or do anything. It was obvious they were short on staff. They next day I was told they were moving mom to 4th floor and I needed to pack stuff up. It took 24 hours before they ended up moving her. On the 4th floor the service was even worse!! When my mom pushed the call button it usually took 20 min for someone to respond. Night staff was very rude. My mom asked for more water 3 times (from 11pm to 2am) and not only didn't get water but no one even came in to check on her. When it was time to check out it took 4 1/2 hours to discharge her and then another 25 min to get a wheel chair! I don't think I would bring my dog to this hospital for care!!! Last time my mom was in a hospital it was at Corwell Health and I can think of anything we didn't like about that hospital. They were prompt, friendly and had plenty of staff. read more

After being here for nearly 8 hours barely being seen I asked to be discharged I was told I would have to sign AMA papers in order to leave (meaning my insurance company wouldn't cover any of the visit) OR I could wait however long it takes for them to do ONE test I've been waiting 5 hrs to have done. A few months ago I left a review after my mom had a stroke and was brought hear only to experience the worst treatment of her life that would eventually lead her to go through a life changing trauma that could have been avoided. The nurses told me she wasn't having a stroke, when I called and asked for an update they told me "She's 50 years old you can get one from her" telling me to call my mother who was mid-stroke getting no treatment. This is an update to say that after my last review I was called by Henry Ford to get more details about the incident, they apologized and told me they'd follow up with with what actions were taken to rectify what happened. Months later I'm still waiting for that phone call and still wishing my mom would have received the proper treatment from day 1. I will drive her myself to Beaumont ER where I know they will do what they're suppose to in the case of a stroke before I ever have her come here to lay in the hallway for 8 hours again. Shame on this place. It should not be in business and I would highly not recommend letting your loved ones come here for any type of care. read more

I was in the waiting room waiting patiently for 17 hours (noon - 5am) before I got called back. Once I was called back I got my testing done relatively quickly. I was in back for maybe about 5 hours before I was discharged. As my physical needs were obviously not important to them waiting 15 hours in the situation I was in caused my mental health to decline. At hour 15 of waiting (this was my first time asking the triage desk staff for an update) I asked if they had any idea how much longer or how many people were in front of me. The nurse was very rude and told me it should be soon, soon was another 2 hours. I understand triaging but 17 hours of waiting is insane. If I could have gone to urgent care or my doctors I would have, but my doctor recommended me coming to this ER due to the fact I have been a henry ford patient for years and the testing I needed done could only be done at the hospital. As soon as i got my recommendation from my doctor I left work and was at the hospital with in an 1.5 hours. I was not expecting to be there and awake for over 24 hours. I cant wait to see my bill, at least they don't charge for you wait in the waiting room. read more

I wasn't going to share this experience at Henry Ford 19 mile but, having heard others stories from this same location, I felt like I needed to share for anyone who may need to go to the ER.. you might double think this ER after what I have to say... Back in June, I went to Henry Ford ER with severe stomach pain all over my stomach...I sat in the hallway on a stretcher for hours, saw my nurse once, was told that I had a ruptured ovarian cyst and then informed that they couldn't do anything else to help me and they'd be discharging me. I voiced that I was still in severe amounts of pain and questioned the doctor because I was in no better condition than when I walked into the ER. Doctor Scott Sipp, got VERY irritated when I questioned him, I questioned the meds he gave me (anti-diarrhea, anti nausea, and an anti acid.) None of which would have done a thing for an ovarian cyst rupture. But I'm not a doctor, what do I know? He then felt it was necessary to raise his voice and speak over me. I asked him twice not to raise his voice at me... and after the second time, I raised my voice back at him. Did you know doctors are allowed to yell at you, but if you dare to raise your voice back, they call security and have you walked out of the ER...? After leaving that ER, I immediately filed a complaint against the doctor with the hospital. This doctor LIED about what occurred that day to make it seem as though I was some violent threat to him and he even went as far to lie and say that I threw something at him. (Which never happened) then I was told by the hospital that the doctor was just following protocol and that he did everything "medically necessary" to help while I was in the ER. (Also un-true...) Fast forward to today, I've re-filed my complaint on Doctor Scott Sipp because it is now known that I had/have 3 ulcers that went undiagnosed during that ER visit. Had my doctor not treated me as if I was an inconvenience, listened to my concerns about my pain and my health, and put his ego aside for a few minutes..I could have started treatment for these ulcers back in June and saved a lot of pain and suffering on my end. Dr. Scott Sipp failed me as a doctor that day, caused me unnecessary trauma and anxiety around hospital visits, and left me to suffer in pain for 2 more months until I was finally taken seriously by my amazing doctors now. The complaint department is now taking my complaint very seriously as there was mistake on the doctors part and there was something missed in my treatment (which they finally realize) and they will be presenting my case to their board in September. SPEAK UP FOR YOURSELF. I don't give a damn if you think I'm crazy.. because I am determined to figure out what is going on with my health. If you'd been through half of what I've gone through with doctors....you'd be the same way. If you dealt with all of the health issues that I've dealt with in the last 6 years....you'd understand. I am done being gaslit by medical professionals and I will call out each and every single one of them if it helps keep others from experiencing the same mistreatment. read more

I visited the ER at 3:30 pm with my daughter who is in severe stomach pain. was called back finally after four hours, spoke to a Dr. fairly quick, then waited another seven hours to get a CAT scan. this is unacceptable. I will never come to this hospital again. I'd also like to mention that while waiting, I overheard nurses yelling at patients. This is very unprofessional and uncalled for! read more
