Ive never really been much of a breakfast person until I had Henry's breakfast. At one point I was so obsessed I was going every morning , then I moved but whenever I'm in area it's a must I stop by All the ladies who work there are so sweet , they make you feel like you're family. Mr Joe the owner is there most of the time, always greets everyone and is very polite. Nostalgic eatery, brings you back to the 60's. I love the old photos they have of glen cove and all the collectibles. Also Henry's makes their own chocolate , ice cream and beautiful chocolate gifts baskets during holidays. I once got my nieces and nephews some chocolate bunnies for Easter and let's just say I brought the coolest gifts On to the food, I don't know what kind of eggs Henry's uses but I love them. I do not generally enjoy eggs I'm very picky about them and these just taste so amazing . The French toast is another favorite as well I've never been there for lunch so I can't say but I'm sure it's just as good ! Very reasonable as well. The only downside is that if it gets very busy and they get a rush of people, service gets a bit slow . Still worth it in my book , I just don't go if I'm in a hurry . read more

Weekend brunch with friends here...service and food were good. Parking - there isn't much street parking available, but park in the free downtown lot which makes it convenient. One of the very few diners that have the original look and feel. Menu has something for everyone....breakfast is served all day. Had omelettes and eggs for brunch the times I was here. Hash browns and toast were good as well. They do have jam, just ask for it. Food is filling... they do have dessert too...just have to make room for it! This place has been around for many years. I took my daughter here and always enjoyed the food. It's been a while since I been back. I ordered the the quick 2 eggs breakfast with with turkey bacon and toast. They did not have the turkey bacon available so they substituted for turkey meat which was ok but not the greatest. Coffee was a slam dunk. I gave it only 4 stars for not having what I wanted. Do recommend the place. The employees are very pleasant. read more

It is more than enough for both of us to share. The waitresses are always so pleasant and friendly. We decided to take out from here for Dad's birthday breakfast & it was a huge hit! went in today for an uber pickup with my boyfriend, i've been here a few times but it's my boyfriends first time and he goes to pick up our order inside. he walks in, not even greeted and he patiently waited for someone at the counter to see if our order was ready. the lady sees him finally after 5 minutes and shows him a receipt asking if it was ours and it wasnt. she tells him to look over by the doordash/uber area since our food should be there and when he checks, it isn't and when he goes back to tell her, she says hold on. she gives him the food and says to him "it must be your first time since you dont know the deal here" he asks what's the deal and she tells him how it goes and asks for ketchup. she rudely says the order didn't ask for ketchup and smushed the ketchup packets into his hand. i was truly so surprised by what had happened, this lady must have had a bad day, i love coming here with friends and family but after that, i will be cutting my visits read more

I'm very sad to have to write this review but I must warn others about what they may be in for... I grew up in this city. Henry's has been here a looong time. So when I had the chance to visit with my elderly mother and my daughter, I wanted to add to the feeling of "home" by going back to Henry's. Parking is 2 hours on Main Street out front. Luckily we grabbed a spot across the street. Walked in and there was no greeting by a human, just a sign that said "wait here to be seated". An older woman yelled to us from a table she was serving, to sit in a booth up front. We sat and another woman put down napkins, menus and silverware. The menu was filled with the same pub fare I remember. Burgers, sandwiches and breakfast. It was a Monday around noon so the tables were mostly filled with an older lunch crowd. The waitress who yelled at us to sit, came over to take our drink order and looked so miserable that I told her to smile. :-) Her response was that she "was done with this place". Then she yelled at a young gentleman walking by and said "don't worry, that's my son". I am super laid back and these types of things don't usually bother me but it definitely set up the tone for the rest of the meal. Breakfast was ordered by all because "soup wasn't ready" and "we don't have mozzarella sticks right now". It took about 30 minutes to receive our order. Which is fine, as we were reminiscing about being there long ago. French toast, egg white omlettes and Strawberry shortcake pancakes. Hash browns came with the eggs even though I asked if they had non frozen homefries. I was told yes, but got frozen hash browns anyway. Whole wheat toast was also ordered with one of the omlettes and we got overly buttered white toast. The French toast was the only dish that was half way decent. Why? Because every single thing was covered in BUTTER and SALT. Except the pancakes...they were drowning in some hot, overly sweet fake Strawberry sauce. I have never seen steaming hot strawberries (that come out of a jar for ice cream topping), smothering pancakes before. Yes, at IHOP, as a small topping. This was not the case. It was an obnoxious amount, boiling hot. My child was like what is this mess? The waitress offered her whipped cream, which was also an obscene amount. The Strawberry sauce was so hot that the whipped cream just slid right off. And guess what was underneath? Drenched through pancakes that my child had 2 bites of and pushed away. She refused to let me send it back so in the garbage it went. She has never NOT eaten pancakes before. The veggie omlette was ok. The cheese omlette was so salty that it was also almost inedible. The hashbrowns were crunchy and burnt in some spots. Not appetizing at all. I asked a different waitress, who was literally dripping with sweat, if we could have the correct toast sent to the table. 20 minutes later and it was sent to another table. She put it back on the counter and I had to let her know that it belonged to us. No jelly on the table so we had to get up and ask for that too. As the jelly was being spread on to the toast, bright green mold was spotted. I immediately called over the miserable waitress who apologized and ran back to scold her husband who is also the cook. He was back there by himself, which explains the wait but that's no excuse for moldy bread and extreme over-use of these other ingredients. We were never checked on or offered drink refills or even coffee. It's very obvious, from the empty chocolate cases to the lack of service, to the unprofessionalism and not caring about the customers or the food presented...that this one time great nostalgic gem in Glen Cove has had it's day. It's a shame. Lastly, I love supporting small businesses and the families that work very hard to stay afloat in these hard economic times. But we work equally as hard to be able to pay for a decent meal when we go out, especially on a special occasion. Hence this review. If you are that miserable, please let someone else take over and bring it back to it's original glory. One star for keeping it original and one star for the French toast. (See pics). read more

A trip to Henry's is almost always a delight. I say "almost" because the food can be somewhat inconsistent depending on the day. On a good day, the french toast here is pretty much the holy grail of french toast. It's delicious in a no-frills sort of way - just buttery, custardy bliss with a dash of cinnamon. No extra stuffing or toppings to make it particularly Instagram-worthy, but amazing *because* it's so simple. Also on a good day, the breakfast burrito is a wonderful pocket of savory breakfast goodness, packed with their home fries, peppers, onions, sausage, and cheese. Each bite is near perfection, and the slight greasiness of it all falls more in the guilty pleasure realm rather than clog-your-arteries land. (I've tried a number of other things on the menu, but these two are by far my favorites.) But on a bad day, the food here is just alright. The french toast can be a little dry or lacking in flavor. The breakfast burrito can be skimpy on any number of its usual components. (At my most recent visit, I picked up a very uncheesy burrito which disappointedly lacked in texture and flavor.) All in all, Henry's is a great diner. The food is good (for the most part), the decor is nostalgic, and they even make their own Easter chocolate! Things like French toast or omelette that you thought you knew are somehow even tastier here than you remember. My wife and I have gone to Henry's for decades and have always had a great meal. After the COVID scare, we went back to Henry's and found it was still excellent food and service. We know the waiters and waitresses, so it's like dining with friends and family. We are always seeing our friends at Henry's. Just the other day, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. My wife had Belgium waffles and I had a Swiss cheese and bacon omelette. The friendly atmosphere makes our experience very enjoyable. Even though it was busy on Sunday, everyone treated us like we were the only people there. It's always a positive experience! I would strongly recommend Henry's restaurant for breakfast and/or lunch. Oh, if it's around Easter Henry's has the best chocolate bunnies in the area. Henry's always pleased and never disappoints. An old school breakfast/lunch neighborhood staple. The interior is still reminiscent of an 1950's soda shop and the long counter in the front reminds of the counters I once sat at in our local Woolworth's restaurant... Food is solid diner fare. If their is a rush of people, service is a bit spotty, we actually got up a couple of times to get things from the counter because our waitress was MIA... but still didn't deter us from enjoying our meal. Liked that most of the tables were filled with families who either lived in the area or lived closed enough to make this spot a regular haunt on the weekends. We will be back for sure. read more

Honestly, the service is usually subpar, but everything you will ever have here is really, really fresh and you can tell it's made by people who still care about putting out a great product. Diner Although this place bills itself as a sweet shop, it is more correctly a diner / luncheonette. I finally got around to getting in there and it is set up like an old time diner - a long counter with stools and ice cream and such and then booths and tables around the rest of the place. The food was very good- I think I had one of the best western omelets there. The help is a little pokey. They apparently like to talk. Talk amongst themselves being the chief hobby, talk to the kitchen guys, talk to the one guy at the counter and then they seemingly remember there are customers and then there is a flurry of activity - then back to talking. Pro: This is a fantastic gem in the city of Glen Cove. It is a landmark diner. Henry's Housemade Ice Cream is the best in town. The best sundaes and milkshakes! If you are looking for an all american classic diner, this hits the mark right on the nose. Con: Their menu has not seen a revision since they opened up shop way back when. They could really use a spruce up to bring them some relevance in the new found vintage culture. Mixed greens and working on food presentations would hurt them none.
