WARNING WARNING…read more For anyone thinking about buying a car from GLASGOW TRADE SALES I purchased a car from GLASGOW TRADE SALES on 14/2/18 with 3 months warranty! I have been trying to contact them since the 10/3/18 to report some problems I am experiencing. They hang up on me & don't return any calls when I leave messages. They also refuse to acknowledge or respond to emails. I now realise they have done this a lot to other customer's. After a bit of investigation on my part the warranty they claim to offer with "Warranty Wise" which you can clearly see advertised on all their current cars is a complete LIE. I have personally spoken to warranty wise and GLASGOW TRADE SALES are not an approved dealer of warranty wise and haven't been for 5/6 months now. They are liars and cheats please do not buy a car from them it's not worth the risk. Check out the reviews on Google and Auto Trader I wish I had before buying my car. All I can do now is warn others so they don't fall for the same lies I did. Please help me by sharing this with family and friends in the Glasgow area!

I guess their 30 day warranty is worth about as much as their word. I have since had the car independently checked and the garage I use and trust are adamant the car should never have passed an not due to the brakes being defective among other issues. GTS never even bothered to fix the non existent handbrake despite falsely claiming too. Glasgow Trade sales will take your money then stick their fingers up at laughing you as you drive away. The matter is now in the hands of trading standards, VOSA and the police for the dodgy mot issued. Glasgow trade sales have f####d with the wrong guy this time. See you soon Dan!!!

Had to buy a new battery after 4 weeks due to the electrics running it down, had to get an inspector sent from finance company to check over the car who unfortunately did not find anything at that time even though everything was present. After a lot of money already spent and being told by this company that it's 'not their problem now' as I'd had it 4 weeks is just laughable. Now onto the 1st year Mot which cost £1500 needing glow plugs , new back box exhaust as the one on it had a massive hole in it even though I use it for domestic driving, not to mention the engine management and abs lights continually coming on. I have my local garage who has photos of underneath my car and diagnostics to back up it was a wreck before I touched it with wiring patched up appallingly, the whole underneath of this car and throughout the electrics were shot and this car had cost me in 1 year £10,000 with the £8000 car I traded in and the mot which I'm seeing nothing back for. worst of it is I still owe £10,000 for this heap of shit. They operate a system called accist where basically they take over the dealing with insurance companies, arrange quotations and then the repair of the vehicle. As part of this system you are entitled to a courtesy car. The whole procedure from start to finish was smooth and easy to deal with. Takes away the stress of trying to sort things yourself. Once you have a repair date you drop your car off here and a driver takes you to the allison street showroom where you collect your hire car. On return you simply drop your car back here. Having an accident is such a horrible experience but these guys really help make it as stress free as possible.

I purchased a car from Great Western Motor Company at the end of November 2013. A condition of purchase was that I asked them to freshly MOT the car for me so I knew it was safe for me and my partner to drive. I do a lot of driving for work and frequently have colleagues and family members in the car, so a safe reliable car is a must for me. On purchasing the car I was assured it had passed its MOT with no advisories. I asked to see the paperwork but I was told it was in the post to the DVLA. They told me it was MOT'd by a local garage in Anniesland but didn't give me the name of the garage. I drive with my sales receipt and no V5 as this, I was told, was with the DVLA so the private plates from the previous owner could get swapped over. I accepted this as a reasonable explanation. I noticed after having the car for a week that it was a bit sluggish, and did not coast like my previous cars and decelerated very quickly when in gear and not using the brakes. When I had the time available a week or so later I took the car to a trusted mechanic in Prestonpans near where I live in East Lothian and he informed me that the front brakes were around 50% seized and had clearly been like that for a lot longer than a few weeks, as the pads were worn down to practically nothing. He said the car would never have passed an MOT at the end of November, and went so far to say that he would stand in a court of law and stake his reputation on it. He is a registered MOT station and a car dealer, as well as an expert on the type of car I purchased (I took it to him as he has owned several of these cars himself and the owners club recommended him). As Christmas was looming I needed the car repaired quickly so I called Great Western Motors to complain and their attitude was astonishing. They refused to tell me who had MOT'd the car, told me they were refunding my money and taking the car back, and told me I was "at it" and accused the mechanic of colluding with me. I told them I did not want a refund - I had bought the car because I liked it, I still liked it and all I wanted to know was who MOT'd the car so I could inform VOSA. At this point I started receiving an increasingly bizarre and offensive stream of text messages from the salesman, details of which I will leave out of this review as they are so odd it may stretch the comprehension of even the most open minded individual. I had been driving children, colleagues and my partner around in a dangerous car because of either the MOT station or Great Western Motor Company and I wanted answers. I had not received the paperwork for the car and asked them to put this in the mail immediately as they had it sitting in the office and hadn't sent it on to me. When all was said and done the salesman called me and promised me (I emphasise the work promise at this point) that he would pay part of the £486 it was going to cost me to replace the brake calipers and discs. He asked me to give him the weekend to put this right. He never contacted me again. This was just before Christmas. I received the paperwork a couple of days later. Lo and behold, they had lied to me and the car wasn't even MOT'd in November - it was MOT'd in September and they had taken me for a ride and sold me an unsafe, un-MOT'd car when they said they had freshly MOT'd it with no advisories. These people took £2995 from me and lied to my face. Three weeks passed and it was the middle of January when I contacted them again, on the off chance they had a busy festive period and asked if I could have something towards the cost of the brake calipers and discs - at this point anything was better than nothing, and I thought they could at least redeem themselves in some small way. I then got a laughable offer to buy the car back as they think they had "undersold" it to me (bear in mind this is a used car dealership, so underselling something is a completely ridiculous assertion). I have spent money rust proofing the car and putting the brakes right by this point and bought accessories for it so I simply refused to deal with them a second longer. I am now seeking redress through Trading Standards and the small claims court. Avoid these people at all costs. I just hope they do not do the same to someone else and they end up taking their family out in a death trap.

I bought a Mazda 323F Sport from Thornton Cars last year which was missing the rear head restraints. I was advised that these would be supplied but have never recieved them. Further, the car had a rattle at the rear and i was advised that it was just an exhaust bracket. It turned out to be badly worn drop links for the rear anti roll bar. That should have been spotted at the MOT before the car was sold. Also missed at the MOT was corrosion around the offside front shock absorber mounting. This corrosion was visible from inside the engine compartment but when i showed concern about it at the show room, i was told by the salesman, 'it was ok because it was not structural'. Who told him that? Apart from missing head restraints, the car was sold without a toolkit, wheel brace and a missing jack handle.

They're all about selling you the vehicle (and, in fairness, due to their size they are…read moreoften unbeatable on price), but the after sales "care" varies between abysmal and non-existent. I had two pieces of warranty work done on my car. The first was a door hinge issue that was a known fault and a "quick fix", but it meant that the passenger side door didn't sit flush with the vehicle. About a month after they'd fixed it, the fault re-appeared and exists to this day. Another warranty repair - replacement of steering wheel and gear knob - took over three months to get sorted and involved the direct involvement of Renault themselves. When they finally booked me in, they tried to charge me for a hire car, claiming I could just get the money back from Renault - who had contacted the garage on my behalf to get everything sorted and told them that I was not to be charged. Renault then advised me in future that there was another non-Arnold Clark dealership elsewhere and that I would probably be better off using them. We've had similar - and actually worse - experiences through four other AC dealerships and just don't use them for anything more than browsing the vehicles, getting brochures and perhaps test driving... before going elsewhere if we decide we like the model.

Forget that i have a wife in hospital and 2 young kids to get to school, that's not the staffs problem, their approach though was one of despondency and a total lack of professionalism which left me feeling a bit cold. I usually avoid negative reviews but for everyone's sake, be wary of this place. There are much better, Ford approved, independent garage options out there. Unless of course you're into non-returned phone calls, false promises and major inconvenience.

This was until I had signed for the car and noticed a few problems,after calling the sales person up I was assured these small problems would be sorted promptly,this is where my problems really started! I had no contact from anyone from the company,I called them numerous times and each time I was told "The person is busy,they will call you straight back." None of these phone calls ever materialised. I spoke to both sales people and management at the branch and had no luck. In the end I paid for the problems to be fixed myself. This company will bend over backwards for you until you sign for the car then their customer service skills equal 0/10. Their sales team/staff are the most unhelpful and non customer care orientated I have ever come across. My advice is to avoid them at all costs,there are much better independent garages out their who have customer care levels 100 times better than this place!

It was quite busy when I was there - but I didn't see any of the salesmen being heavy handed or using pressurised sales techniques.
