wouldn't even give this place the one star the only reason I am is because u need to rate it…read more Bought a ford ranger a year ago and had nothing but problems with the car from going into limp mode spontaneously 3 weeks after buying it to the electrics being all over the place with having to turn my lights to off mode to have them on. Had to buy a new battery after 4 weeks due to the electrics running it down, had to get an inspector sent from finance company to check over the car who unfortunately did not find anything at that time even though everything was present. After a lot of money already spent and being told by this company that it's 'not their problem now' as I'd had it 4 weeks is just laughable. Now onto the 1st year Mot which cost £1500 needing glow plugs , new back box exhaust as the one on it had a massive hole in it even though I use it for domestic driving, not to mention the engine management and abs lights continually coming on. I have my local garage who has photos of underneath my car and diagnostics to back up it was a wreck before I touched it with wiring patched up appallingly, the whole underneath of this car and throughout the electrics were shot and this car had cost me in 1 year £10,000 with the £8000 car I traded in and the mot which I'm seeing nothing back for. worst of it is I still owe £10,000 for this heap of shit. DO NOT TOUCH THESE GUYS WITH A BARGEPOLE YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Not the kind of place you'll find yourself in unless your in the "i happen to have shit loads of money so go beat yourself with a stick if you can find one on the street you low life son of a mangy goat, now leave before i release the trained wilder beasts" bracket of earnings. For those amongst us whose first car was the same age if not older than them, then this is the type of joint that you will probably never set foot into, unless we win the lottery. So then, the best thing about This place is the wander by it. If, like me, you appreciate a nice motor and quite like a wee gawk at some nice old examples, then this is a good place and a great location for those who frequent the pubs in this area of town. Is there anything better (sadder) than having a few drinks, heading home with chips and cheese and standing (swaying) in front of a car show room for 10 minutes?? There is? oh. Anyway, got cash? fancy a nice old flashy car? Try this place out, just be careful not to knock the chips and cheese out of my hands as you drive away!!

I am posting this review in the hope that someone else does not have the same experience with this…read morebusiness that I did. I purchased a car from Great Western Motor Company at the end of November 2013. A condition of purchase was that I asked them to freshly MOT the car for me so I knew it was safe for me and my partner to drive. I do a lot of driving for work and frequently have colleagues and family members in the car, so a safe reliable car is a must for me. On purchasing the car I was assured it had passed its MOT with no advisories. I asked to see the paperwork but I was told it was in the post to the DVLA. They told me it was MOT'd by a local garage in Anniesland but didn't give me the name of the garage. I drive with my sales receipt and no V5 as this, I was told, was with the DVLA so the private plates from the previous owner could get swapped over. I accepted this as a reasonable explanation. I noticed after having the car for a week that it was a bit sluggish, and did not coast like my previous cars and decelerated very quickly when in gear and not using the brakes. When I had the time available a week or so later I took the car to a trusted mechanic in Prestonpans near where I live in East Lothian and he informed me that the front brakes were around 50% seized and had clearly been like that for a lot longer than a few weeks, as the pads were worn down to practically nothing. He said the car would never have passed an MOT at the end of November, and went so far to say that he would stand in a court of law and stake his reputation on it. He is a registered MOT station and a car dealer, as well as an expert on the type of car I purchased (I took it to him as he has owned several of these cars himself and the owners club recommended him). As Christmas was looming I needed the car repaired quickly so I called Great Western Motors to complain and their attitude was astonishing. They refused to tell me who had MOT'd the car, told me they were refunding my money and taking the car back, and told me I was "at it" and accused the mechanic of colluding with me. I told them I did not want a refund - I had bought the car because I liked it, I still liked it and all I wanted to know was who MOT'd the car so I could inform VOSA. At this point I started receiving an increasingly bizarre and offensive stream of text messages from the salesman, details of which I will leave out of this review as they are so odd it may stretch the comprehension of even the most open minded individual. I had been driving children, colleagues and my partner around in a dangerous car because of either the MOT station or Great Western Motor Company and I wanted answers. I had not received the paperwork for the car and asked them to put this in the mail immediately as they had it sitting in the office and hadn't sent it on to me. When all was said and done the salesman called me and promised me (I emphasise the work promise at this point) that he would pay part of the £486 it was going to cost me to replace the brake calipers and discs. He asked me to give him the weekend to put this right. He never contacted me again. This was just before Christmas. I received the paperwork a couple of days later. Lo and behold, they had lied to me and the car wasn't even MOT'd in November - it was MOT'd in September and they had taken me for a ride and sold me an unsafe, un-MOT'd car when they said they had freshly MOT'd it with no advisories. These people took £2995 from me and lied to my face. Three weeks passed and it was the middle of January when I contacted them again, on the off chance they had a busy festive period and asked if I could have something towards the cost of the brake calipers and discs - at this point anything was better than nothing, and I thought they could at least redeem themselves in some small way. I then got a laughable offer to buy the car back as they think they had "undersold" it to me (bear in mind this is a used car dealership, so underselling something is a completely ridiculous assertion). I have spent money rust proofing the car and putting the brakes right by this point and bought accessories for it so I simply refused to deal with them a second longer. I am now seeking redress through Trading Standards and the small claims court. Avoid these people at all costs. I just hope they do not do the same to someone else and they end up taking their family out in a death trap.

I took the car straight to an independant garage who gave it a diagnostic test. The test uncovered the fact that there were many major parts of the engine 'missing'. These were parts that would have to have been removed by a mechanic, which if faulty, would stop the engine from running, BUT if removed the car will operate for a few months before finaly causing extensive problems. The price to replace the parts inc labour would have cost in xs of £2500. When i took the car back to the so called 'dealers', he told me 'we dont do refunds' and i was 'over the 30day warrenty'. After i educated this cowboy of my rights and the fact i had contacted the office of fair trading, he quickly gave me my money back to get me out of his way!!! 1 month later, the car is back on the forcourt at the same price, I would wager my mortgage that the repairs havnt been done! Now they have been rectified by an independent garage since the dealership wanted nothing to do with me or my car. Another problem has just arisen and I've called to get it sorted which I've been told my warranty doesn't cover. Due to being told I wouldn't be able to test drive it because it wasn't taxed or mot'd, I was told that the warranty for engine problems would be extended to a year however the dealership have now gone back on their word to which I have multiple witnesses to, however that fact was laughed at as they are my partner and his sister, because they would "obviously corroborate" what I'm saying their word means nothing to this company apparently. I was accused of simply not wanting the car which couldn't be further from the truth as I have always wanted a mini and this is my first car. Having called myself to see if anything could be done the woman I spoke with had a horrible attitude and hung the phone up on me after saying if I came to the dealership to work out an agreement to fix the issues I'm having the police would be called. As there was a complete lack of willingness to accept any form of blame or fault on their part my mother called as she is more experienced with dealing with motoring issues. My mother was given the same disgusting attitude by the woman on the phone also. This situation with my car has left me extremely out of pocket & has started to affected my mental health & wellbeing. I encourage anyone looking to purchase from this dealership to seriously reconsider and look at buying a car from another dealership unless you want to be bombarded with motoring problems & deal with a company with substandard customer service issues.

Upon receiving the car, I noticed several issues and sought clarification on whether these problems would be covered under the warranty. Unfortunately, I did not receive a definitive response and was instructed to return the car with the delivery driver, which I complied with. Hillington Motors later informed me that they had inspected the vehicle and found no faults, but I have not received any documentation to verify this. Fourteen days have passed, Hillington Motors now has the car, has resold it, and is refusing to refund my payment until the DVLA issues a new logbook listing the car under one owner. To summarise: - I did not reject the vehicle; rather, I was directed to return it. - I was not informed whether the electrical issues I identified were warranty-covered, casting doubt on the warranty's validity. - Hillington Motors reported no issues with the car. - The car was registered in my wife's name before we took possession. - Hillington Motors has not refunded my payment of £10,946, contravening the 14-day consumer law. I have notified Trading Standards and anticipate an investigation will ensue in the coming weeks. I have also engaged a commercial debt recovery agency to pursue the refund on my behalf. Would I recommend this business? Absolutely not. As of July 14, it is unlikely that Hillington Motors has been contacted by either Trading Standards or the debt recovery agency, but actions are underway that could have been entirely avoided had Hillington Motors addressed my warranty inquiry. Instead, a reactive approach from the company has led to these current proceedings, which I had indicated I would pursue during our phone conversation, to which their response was, "bring it on."

It was ready for collection by 2pm and when I arrived they asked me to wait in the lounge area so they could "check-out" the car to me. The service and checks all up was just over £250 and they even washed and hoovered the car. I'd definitely bring the car back here for another service as I was really impressed by their professionalism and it didn't end up being as expensive as I expected.
