The team at H.E.P. Construction was great from start to finish!
I reached out to two other construction companies in an unsuccessful attempt to gain the required information and the quote/scope needed for my 203k loan prior to finding and settling on working with H.E.P. for my home renovation needs. They were a godsend. A project manager at H.E.P. contacted me the following day, after submitting an email request, and was able to schedule a walk through of the property with me for the very next week. I went through DC HPAP for purchasing my home, and H.E.P. was knowledgeable about the process and patient with me and the DC Government the entire time, which was very reassuring and eliminated much of the stress (The process may be smoother if one is not dealing with a government agency). I purchased a 1940s row home, which needed a lot of updates, and the team at H.E.P. had the experience and background with regard to the scope of work I needed done, and communicated what would and would not work best for what I was looking for for my home. I'm a single woman, and I never felt disrespected, belittled or taken advantage of by anyone on the H.E.P. team, as was the case with other contractors I encountered. They listened to my needs and didn't treat me as if I didn't know what I wanted or needed. When I called, emailed or even texted the project manger, my calls were answered and someone replied to my inquires in a reasonable amount of time. I didn't feel like I had to constantly chase anyone down for a response to my questions, required documents or for information.
H.E.P. has a team made up of skilled folks that worked consistently to keep up with the timeline for my project, so that I could move-in as scheduled. They completely gutted and re-did the bath and kitchen to my very specific standards (I'm very selective), and they worked with me to choose the best appliances and materials based on my taste and project specifications. I also had the entire interior of the home repainted, original wood floors refinished, all new appliances installed and the electrical system to the home upgraded. If there were any unexpected issues that arose with the project, which inevitably happens with all construction projects, someone at H.E.P. contacted me right away and explained the situation and my options. And, then found the best solution. This is a local company, they communicate with their clients and they keep things honest, I would definitely recommend H.E.P. to anyone in need of a residential renovation project in the DC, Maryland or Virginia area.
