Once again a gym makes you jump through many hoops to cancel your membership despite signing a membership without a contract. Horrible gym. Do not recommend and good luck cancelling your membership. Great clean gym! Friendly staff. Group fitness classes are great too. All ladies, it's nice to workout without being bothered.

I have been going to this gym location since the Midnapore World Health closed down. A little further to travel but I am enjoying the classes I attend and like the new renovations. Parking is a little hard, as spaces are too small and not enough. Lights are needed outside on the side of the gym. The new Director is very involved. Would like to see more improvement with classes and equipment, and she is interested in how we enjoy the gym to our satisfaction. Y L read more

I was feeling very relaxed and almost didn't go for Zumba after Bonnie's relaxing Yin yoga class. But I was on top of the cloud after Anna's high energy Zumba class, so.. so ..happy I didn't skip Zumba! Thank you Bonnie for all the great Yin classes. Thank you Anna for the high energy moves. Also thank you Pamela Murphy for her amazing Zumba on Tuesday evening, and I would like to let Pamela knows that it is extremely rare for me to leave my warm house to go out but, I go for her Zumba class because I don't want to miss out her new moves. Suddenly in 2020, the number of people in each class got tripled! All the equipment was occupied! and we could say money is the only thing matters for them!! But to get even worth at the beginning of the Covid pandemic they resist to freeze my account, then by mandating it by the government they froze it for short term and despite the fact, my contract is finished by the date they keep saying I have to make all the payments. We all know the first challenge of working out is actually getting to the gym! My workout always begins with a friendly smile and good morning greeting from our friendly receptionist, Laurie. I have been attending Gymvmt for a number of years and in those years I can honestly say it's been amazing. The staff is always readily available for question's, proper equipment usage and getting us back on track after Covid "15" weight gain! The staff at Canyon Meadows are more like friends. Laurie goes beyond her way to help those who require assistance in practically anything! I was having difficulty with the new app when Gymvmt was launched and she set me up with the proper contacts, signed me up to all my classes and asked me daily if I required any additional assistance. Laurie cares about everyone who walks through the doors, personally buying cards for members who lost loved ones or is simply having a rough time. Laurie is my first interaction of the day and she always makes me feel good before the instructors kick my butt! ( In a good way, ha ha) I love attending our gym, the atmosphere is amazing and the cleanliness of the facility, thanks to Marianne is above exceptional! She is truly amazing and sweet! BE CAREFUL!!! Great facility but horrible management/membership department. If you sign up with SpaLady - Read your contract and make sure no one has initialed something you didn't initital. Make sure nothing has been forged and make sure you KNOW what you are signing. I chose to sign up for a 1 year contract. I could have got a better monthly rate if I had signed up for 2 years or 3 years, but I chose 1 year because I wasn't sure I'd be in Alberta in 2012. After my membership expired, Spalady continued to charge my Mastercard for membership charges. When I called to notify them that they were still charging me, they told me that I had signed up for an 'auto-matic renewal' at the time I registered. I would NOT have done this - why would I sign up for an automatic renewal when I purposely chose a 1 year plan? I called head office and told them this was all a mistake and I did not sign up for anautomatic renewal. They had absolutely no customer service skills and did nothing to mitigate the issue - in fact, they told me I should "Call the police" if I had a problem with it. You have been warned........ I'd take my money to a more honest establishment if I were you. read more

This was my second time returning to spa lady, the first time my experience was great even through cancelling. Waiting for my contract to be up and cancelling ASAP. Stay away from that gym! Terrible service, they want to hook you up with lies, I signed an agreement and I asked many times..Is it going to be just for two years? No auto renewals.. Nothing to hold me up ...She say no.. ! Not a problem! The fact! Many people told that's not true you have to call and cancel your auto renewal otherwise they will signed you up for other two years without telling you. So I called and it was totally true!! Wonderful gym! Love the atmosphere and the staff. This gym is for ladies only, so it is a true work out place. There are two levels with different equipment, baby sitting services and a vending machine with water to keep you hydrated. The equipment maybe not the state of the art with built-in displays, but it does what it needs to do. There are opportunities to work out on your own or participate in the group classes. My favourite is the Iron Reps, but other ones available as well from step to dance fitness. There are also yoga classes and private trainers. Most of the classes are included in the membership, which is quite democratic and cover pretty much everything a girl needs to stay in shape. Once you are in, you get help with the exercises and equipment. I used to go to a very high end gym and had to quit, but here I feel good, because my goal is to train and move on with my daily things. We still socialize and smile to each other not with a smile #5 or #3, but because you can be yourself- very liberating! I wonder if all the Spa Lady locations are like that or only the Canyon Meadows one. read more

The gym and equipment is as good as any other gym. Nothing special here and the price of a membership is incredibly high. Unfortunately the staff are also terrible at customer service and don't seem to care about anything other then taking your money. And don't bother asking the staff any questions because they don't seem to know anything! read more

If you are looking to get a gym pass then I encourage you to look elsewhere. If you are a serious gymer like myself, then this isn't the place for you. I've been attending Spa Lady for about a year and a half now, not because I want to but because the minimum contract you can sign with them is 2 years and good luck getting out of it. I am all for cleanliness and all I have to say to the trainers is practice what you preach. If you want to keep a clean gym maybe you should sow your clients how to wipe off the machine because I've never seen a single trainer do it. Save your money and invest in a different gym. Some place where the trainers know what they are taking about and a friendly atmosphere. read more

Horrible service, high pressure sales, shady company. I received horrible service from the day I walked in the door to the day I cancelled my account. My membership was mishandled and a duplicate membership was created causing multiple billing issues. I know that mistakes happen, but the real problem lies in the lack of customer service and the attitude of staff. The free training I received was in no way valuable and was a total waste of time. I told the staff member about my goals and fitness level but she didn't at all consider this when recommending a program to me. Not to mention, this was the same person who used high pressure sales tactics to get me to sign up in the first place. She was totally unprofessional. The facility and equipment are aging, the staff are not knowledgable in general, and the corporate office staff are rude. I would strongly encourage you NOT to join this gym. read more

I visited the Spa Lady to take a class, and it has been forever since Ive gone to this location . Holy Crap has it changed!! I was offered a tour of the facility with one of the consultants and she told me they have put in over 1 million dollars for renos. It was well worth the money. They have it all at Spa Lady now. A giant room on the main floor for all the classes they offer, with any equipment neccessary. You can guarantee by the size of the place, you will never have to worry about being squished next to other people. They have bright lights, an absorbant floor, and a strategically placed podium for the teachers to stand so everyone can see. There are a zillion cardio machines on the main floor, so you can guarantee that you wont have to wait in line for one at any time of the day. The upstairs in a bit smaller, but has all the latest machines, including TRX. They offer yoga classes for a few dollars more a month. The room is dimly lit, very big, yet relaxing, and has sound proof walls so you dont hear any noise from the outside. So a great facility if you are looking for a women's only gym, and if Im to believe the consultant, they are there behind you 100% offering their services to help you stay motivated and healthy. They have the usual set up fee of about $100, and is $33-$39 dollars per month for the membership. The only thing I didnt like, was that they try to sell you on the 2 year plan first, not mentioning the other options...but otherwise, if I were looking for a gym to go to this would be the place! I have been a member for the Cayon Meadows location for the last 14 years. The classes are top notch. I tried the free passes to yoga, VIPR, and bender ball. They all are fantastic. Also for the reason of this comment. I am very thankful to the manager she always goes out of her way not just for me but for everyone and in every situation needed. first about my membership little problem, and up to dates- plus recently she found a wonderful trainer accordingly To my needs. Thanks so much for the Manager she always ready to hear us. Love the gym, the staff and overall the price. Happy to be part of this all woman gym. This place is always overloaded with people. Customer service is awful because they are hiring a new staff all the time. I don't know why but the staff rotation is extremely high at this location.You can read the Employee Reviews that posted at "Indeed" and you can get the picture of how this company operates.I was glad that my one year contract with Canyon Meadows Spa Lady ended and I was able to leave. I rather pay a little bit more but get a pleasant experience. Yes Spa Lady is probably the cheapest in the city but you are getting what you are paying for. Another thing I have to mention that you could get chased by some of the member there who would be pointing in a very bad manner that you have to wipe their machines. I don't mind to wipe the machines but I don't like to be mistreated by somebody for my money that I pay for the service. Keep it in mind too. Anyways long story short they are nice when they need you to sign in but as soon you are trapped and signed your contract they are given you a cold shoulder. Big problem with head office,when trying to stop them from withdrawing money, after cancelling contract.

The space and the classes are great. Some staff are better than others with customer service. They explain everything in a lump sum format when you sign up. However, I found some staff not to be very courteous or kind (even snooty). One staff went as far as to debate with me when i told staff she failed to explain to me a particular clause in the cancellation policy. Staff debated and claimed that she says it every time and claimed she is always very thorough. I should have asked staff so are you saying I am lying then? That particular staff was distracted when I asked her previously, as she seemed to be finishing something on the pc, and had to answer the phone too. It's an affordable gym but the customer service is also what you can expect for that price. I found it also interesting that you are properly invited to sit in their offices when you inquire about enrolling, however when i dropped by to cancel I was asked by the manager to wait and sit on the bench adjacent to their stairs near the reception desk. It seemed rude considering its not a proper waiting area and in contrast to the service you get from enrolment that was a disappointment; so when I expressed I actually did not have a lot of time to spare and I just stood instead; it was great they could hurry it up. Also, yes they give you a certain amount when your friends sign up but they divide that amount and distribute it according to the term of your contract. So if you terminate early, you don't get that full amount. To be fair, it was not always unpleasant. If I were to consider Spa Lady again, I would rather sign up in another branch. Then again, I actually felt anxious with my interactions with this gym that I have stopped recommending it to friends and family; and concluded that if I were still to look for a gym in Calgary I will most likely look for alternatives rather than go back. read more

I toured this facility three weeks ago, met with the membership person and the personal trainer signed up for both. Three weeks later I have not been able to coordinate with a personal trainer to fit my schedule, I wait days, and a week in some instances for a call to be returned. I was told to send an email to the manager and headoffice. I did not get a response to that. To say they are unrrofessional is an understatement, yes the facility looks great but don't expect any customer service or professionalism. No one will take the responsibility to speak with me about refunding/cancelling my personal training or membership. Everyone passes the buck and no one seems to take "ownership" would I recommend them not a chance. read more

I've been coming to spa lady (this location) for 5+ years. I love it. It has great prices, great classes and is clean! My three suggestions for this place (company) are: 1.PARKING! The parking at this location is ridiculous, I have considered changing gyms based on this problem. Obviously, there is not much to be done, but geez it drives me crazy! Especially if you are running late for a class and have to drive around the parking lot 5 times to find a spot! 2. Class Schedules. There are many many classes and I do think they do a wonderful job fitting things in, however, having a friend who teaches the classes, I am aware that there are people who want to teach more and cannot! Therefore, (knowing there is staff for it), I would love if there was EVEN MORE classes! Between work and university classes it's hard to get to the gym for specific classes that I love going to (coughcough IRON REPS). It would be wonderful if they offered some classes even earlier, or more in the afternoon so I could fit it into my schedule. This semester I can only get to one class a week based on times and it would be fantastic if there were more classes. (SUNDAYS WOULD BE AWESOME!) 3. Hours. This gym is below average in this category. It's open pretty early, and that's great for early-birds, but what about us ladies that like to work out late! It would be awesome if the gym could be open until 10-11 pm during the week. And weekends.. closed at 3pm on Sundays? Not ideal. I would love it if on the weekends it could be open later. Since I have to work weekends I would love to hit the gym Saturdays, but cant make it as I work the exact hours the gym is open. Overall though, great place to come to. Just a little busy and not long enough hours to accommodate everybody. But due to the spectacular prices (and staff for the most part!)... it's still a great gym to go to. read more

Spa lady for sure knows how to trap people in contracts, they never explain that there are other options then 2 or 3 year contracts. When I was signing the contract I was told that if I want to cancel I can at any time , all I have to do is pay the penalty of $150.00 . Now I am moving to the other side of the city and wanted to cancel and the head office is telling me that I cannot . If you are concerned about your health and safety stay as FAR away from this location as possible. Last night, upon returning to my vehicle post work out, I discovered my front passenger window was completely smashed out and my belongings had been stolen. As if being alone and upset in a completely isolated and dark parking lot with ZERO security presence wasn't bad enough, after going back into the gym to ask for assistance, I was refused numerous times when I asked to speak with the manager, being told she was "busy with a client." I explained what had happened and was visibly upset, yet was still told they would not get the manager and instead handed me a post it note with name of the building management company. I waited over an hour inside the facility for the police to show up and during that time, not a single member of the staff approached me to see if I was okay, however were obviously all aware of the situation. I also discovered today the "surveillance equipment" in the parking lot is completely useless as the property management company does not know how to obtain the actual video footage. The fact that this is a women's only facility and is notorious for vehicle break-ins (this was only brought to my attention by the police) with NO actual security personnel patrolling is extremely concerning as there seems to be no concern for the safety and wellbeing of their clientele. I guess "making the sale" takes priority over safety. Disgusted would be an understatement. read more

I have been a member of Spa Lady Canyon Meadows for almost four years now and the trainers there have changed my life. My first trainer Holly, helped me lose close to 80 pounds and helped me gain a healthy amount of weight during my first pregnancy. My recent trainer Meaghan helped me lose the majority of my baby weight from my first and helped me stay a healthy weight during my second pregnancy. It's hard getting up and going to the gym at 7am but Meaghan makes it fun and keeps me motivated to keep going. read more

The employees at this location are great don't get me wrong, but the overall company is a corporate scam. I signed a 2 year contract that went well, I renewed another 2 year contract believing that it would also be fine. A change in address put me nowhere near a spa lady so I was willing to cancel membership and there is a fee to get out of contract (understandable) the information provided in regards to canceling contract kept getting postponed and postponed, Every time I called, they asked me to come in (which was a 2 hour drive) or contact the cancellation customer service email (which lacked a 2 month response) they refused to refund me the 2 month delay charges and still wanted me to pay the cancellation fee in full although they were still taking money from my account from the beginning of this battle. Here I am 11 months and $400 of charges later, they are still not canceling my membership until I give them an additional $100 fee. Not a single customer service rep offered me A temp freeze on my account which I later found out is an option. I requested a copy of my contract on several occasions which I am getting no response for. Customer service actually stopped responding to any of my requests which I have been handling in a respective mature manner. This is worse than a phone contract, they treat their new customers better than their old ones, I was paying almost double the newcomers price, for a service they could not provide in my new location. if you decided to go with this gym, and you need customer service, email may be seriously delayed response, but phone calls are not documented, and information provided will not back you up. I had to contact my bank and put a stop all request on the future charges. if the company would have offered me a temp freeze on my account, or a discount on cancellation fee, I eventually would have returned and all of this could have been avoided. Its a gym, not a car or a house. Don't get locked into paying for something that has no morals or beliefs in customer concern. read more
