I received quotes from other companies and they were all competitive but the reason I chose Hercules Fence was their on line reviews were better than the other companies. I'm so happy I did. They installed approximately 700 feet of aluminum fencing in my backyard. Everyone I dealt with on the phone and in person was very cordial and professional. There was never an idle moment with the work crews and they were very respectful of my property and cleaned up the work site perfectly. Our experience with Hercules Fence was very frustrating and disappointing. The salesperson, Mike, came out to do the estimate. We requested an eight-foot fence for our backyard because we have an inground pool on a busy road, to which he rolled his eyes at our request and said, well, that's going to be expensive. When we asked for a portion of the fence to be lattice for climbing vines, we were advised that this isn't cost-effective since they make their lattice in-house. When he sent over the contract, we did not realize that he didn't notate the agreement with our requested specifications. We signed the contract and was advised that there is a slight waitlist for installation, about five weeks. Well, three days later, Ms. Utilities is out marking the power lines. We called to ask about installation since the yard was recently marked. We were advised that Ms. Utilities must be ahead of schedule, and we would need to wait about five weeks. By the time our turn arrived, the markings had disappeared! So Ms. Utilities came back out and re-marked all the lines. We were told the workers would be here at 830 to begin. The two employees that came to do the removal worked for a couple of hours, removing a portion of the fence before calling it a day. We were shocked when they did not attempt to secure the yard due to the inground pool. The next day the workers showed up to complete one side of the fence, yet stopped working after completing about fifty feet of fencing. This cycle repeats the very next day. The following day they came to replace the back fence, but couldn't because they forgot their compressor. It's tough to install a fence without the proper tools! The workers immediately halted their progress and left for the day. They returned the next day to complete the rest of the work. That is when we noticed that the fence was only six feet rather than the eight feet we requested. When we pointed that out, Mike so kindly pointed out that we signed the contract with the fence at six feet. When we expressed our disappointment, he blew off our concerns. The fence was completed, and all the workers left. My final observations are as follows: 1.) The salesperson doesn't care what type of aesthetic you are looking for when you discuss options. He will clearly pick what you should have, and you should be grateful. 2.) This must be the cushiest job ever! The workers never stayed longer than two hours. 3.) The fence is a quality fence, but dealing with this company was very tiresome. read more

I got a fence installed that was done over 6 weeks after the date I was given. They came out and my ground is a little uneven so they explained they can make the fence even at the top but there will only be a 2 to 3 inches underneath that I can fill with some dirt so I agreed. When they were done it was such huge gap of over 1 1/2 feet nothing close to what I was told. I had to put several boards underneath because it was such a huge gap. All of the decretive cones on the poles were not put in right and would fly off with the wind. Within a few months the 2 gate doors were getting harder to close. By 8 months the doors would not close at all, the gate lock piece broke off, the boards were separating and the gate was completely falling apart. I called and spoke to the owner Mike, he requested pictures. He immediately denied it was his company because that did not look like his work, stating his company does not use that cheap wood and thats why it was falling apart. I had to literally send him the receipt before he believed it came from his company. When I provided the receipt he noticed someone else paid for the fence which it was the seller because it was what the seller and I agreed to pay for, so the seller chose the company and because of that he refused to fix the gate. He said there is only warranty for the payer when technically the gate was for me I just didn't pay for it physically but I paid on the price of the house. He then said he will charge over $550.00 and that it could not be done for 5 weeks. When I requested a discount considering it was his company that did such a poor job he straight said no. Was not the nicest person was very dismissive considering he said himself in the beginning it was cheap wood used and a poor job done, that he didn't even believe without the proof that his company did the job. Thats what became so frustrating that he admitted it was a bad job but wasn't willing to give me a discount or even correct his poor job that didn't last longer than 8 months. read more

The fence company that our church has used went out of business so we were referred to Hercules. I called and was told that based on our zip code Ishmael was our rep and he'd call us back. A week later no call, so I actually went to their office to ask for help. I was told again that Ishmael was our rep and they'd make personally sure that he'd call me. Great promise but one month later no contact. Can't say how their work is since I can't even get a salesman to even call me or come evaluate our need. Based on a total failure to communicate, I don't recommend them. read more

So I had an estimate done a few months ago (oct/nov time frame) by Hercules Fence for my home in virginia beach. I was assured that I would have the fence completed before christmas. Not only did they not get the job started let alone done, they canceled several times when they were suppose to show up without even letting us know. They just didn't show up!! My wife missed 3 days of work due to this lack of professionalism on Hercules part. To be fair, one of the days was because of snow but regardless it would have been courtesy to call the customer to give them time to fix their schedule. Almost 3 months later (mid-feb) they FINALLY started the job. Not surprised, they left half my backyard open with no fencing (i Have 3 dogs) but they left the remainder of the fencing which by the way was $500 per length, out in the open for any passer by to snatch it up. Then it took another week or so to complete the job. I will say that I am pleased with overall quality of the job but if I had to do it again I would have gone else where. read more
