The folks over at "Evolved" Barbershop mean every single word they say and they stand by all of them, which on the night my 9 yr old boy and Ishowed up was quite a few of them. Seriously though, (and I do not have names nor would I share if I did), the dude at the front stall, as you enter, was very engaging and hilarious. From the moment we walked in his commentary was cordial, comical and engaging! I'm one of those dudes who is not overly fond of "small" talk. I am not a jerk about it and if you ask me some meaningless question, or point out some pointless fact such as, "Boy, it sure is getting chilly lately". I will respond to you, but I am not happy about it! I just like to keep the peace, ya know!? Now, to his actual haircut//"stylist". it was Fantastic/ She was Amazing! For $30, she threw some "rizz" on my boy! (At the age of 53, I have absolutely no clue if that word was just used properly or not?! Nonetheless, my kid was extremely happy about his new 'do, and I'm sure the 3rd grade "ladies" over at Whispering Oak Elementary would agree! My teenage daughter just "cringed". (I'm learning...). OK...well, now I feel would be a good time to conclude this review! Please know, and with 100% seriousness, our lady in the 2nd Booth from the front door was great! She was awesome at making my shy, always trying too hard to be cool, and quite picky, 9 year old feel great, comfortable and and with a newfound confidence. I suppose that is what a new look, expertly created, can do for you! I forgot to mention that she was quick, as well! We walked in (no appt) around 6:30pm pn a Tuesday night and there was only one other customer in the joint. During our 20 min or so, that guy finished and another guy entered and was promptly greeted and taken care of by the young man near the back. After roughly 17-20 minutes, my lil dood shook off the excess strands of cut hair and walked out of EVOLVED with a whole lot more "rizz" and you cannot place a price tag on that! My son's hair has NEVER looked better and I mean that!!! That is why we will be returning to EVOLVED every 3-4 weeks as we go forward!

If I was to speculate, my barber seemed distracted by a conversation that was happening on my right side where the hair was left uneven. It's an observation not a claim. This was before a vacation. This morning, I walked in requesting a very straightforward service: a quick mustache trim. There was one customer in the chair who appeared to be finishing up, and no one else was waiting. Based on the timing and the way the interaction unfolded, I was left with the clear impression that the service I requested simply wasn't viewed as worthwhile. I would have gladly paid $20-$30. I'm a SaaS consultant, my professional appearance is important, and I live around the corner. More importantly, I was evaluating local barbershops with the intention of establishing a weekly routine. If there was an upcoming appointment or another legitimate scheduling constraint, that could have been communicated easily. A professional response would have been to explain the limitation, offer an alternative time, or provide an opportunity to schedule. Instead, I was dismissed as soon as it became apparent that I wasn't requesting a higher-value service that day. That reflects a surprisingly shortsighted approach to customer acquisition. The immediate transaction may have been relatively small, but the long-term value of a reliable weekly customer would have been considerably greater. Successful neighborhood businesses generally understand that distinction. After reviewing the owner's responses to previous criticism--including referring to customers as "lame," "cowards," and "clowns," while repeatedly emphasizing that he doesn't need their business--I'm fully expecting an equally polished demonstration of customer-relations expertise in response to this review. Perhaps I'll be informed that, after 35 years in business, my recurring business wasn't needed either. If that is the response, it will only validate the concern. A simple five- or ten-minute service could have created a long-term customer who lives within walking distance. Instead, the business made a deliberate choice to turn that opportunity away. Based on both my experience and management's public responses to other customers, I'll direct my business elsewhere.

If I lived in SoCal I'd be a regular again like I was years ago but now I'm always on the move. One thing I've noticed about Drew as compared to other barbers, is he always cares about the details, the little things. Other barbers want to rush it, and don't do basic stuff that I assumed all barbers did just because I was accustomed to Drew's meticulousness any time I got my haircut from him. I can honestly say Drew is responsible in some way for me dating so many SoCal baddies because he had my haircut looking fresh so I had the confidence to shoot my shot at girls out of my league! Also, Drew is a chill barber, one you actually can chat with. Some barbers I've experienced are either dead silent and not friendly, or they talk wayyy too much, but chatting with Drew was always good vibes. Quality work, cleanliness, cool vibes are the 3 main things I want in a barber and Drew checks all 3 boxes. James is his coowner is also good people. I've never gotten cut by him but I've seen his work and he's legit too. These guys, Drew and James were coming into my family's restaurant back in the day when I was in my early 20's and they always tipped well, were respectful and good vibes so you know they're good people too.
