I bought my first firearms from them years ago when they were on Post Road. Went there today to purchase some silver coins and to check out their new location and was not impressed with the "customer service." I can not believe how rude they were to me; In the middle of a conversation about what silver coins he had in stock and what I was looking to buy he walked away from me to tend to another customer. Are you kidding me? I was there with money in my pocket and he treated me like dirt. Not only will I never go back, but I will let anyone and everyone know to STAY AWAY! edited to note that it is Heritage Gun & COIN, if they don't want to sell coins or give service to people looking to purchase coins, then they should change their name to Heritage Gun. Look, their prices are great, turnaround on repairs is fast... Do you want to get remotely warmer service from D&L - maybe - and pay way more? D&L's service after the sale is virtually non-existent. I hope you don't need to deal with what I did through D&L, when one of my purchases took a dump. They'll never see me again. A pistol I had for two months was gone for nearly 6 months for repair, and they couldn't be bothered to as much as check into why it was taking so long. I mean, are you going to a gun shop for a massage, or for firearms? Just because when you walk in, he's not jumping in your lap, licking your face, excited to see you... Come on. I mean... This is Rhode Island! Have you not interfaced with anyone else in Rhode Island before? What are your true expectations? He knows his stuff, his prices can't be beaten - period - if he doesn't have something you're looking for, he can get it (or will go down trying). They really run at the bare minimum there and pass it along via their pricing. Also, chances are, if he's being a dick to you, you're being a dick. If you're in a hurry, go back when you have more time. It's a casual gun shop. A lot more laid back than I think some peoples' perceptions are. I, personally, will not deal with another FFL. Not that friendly, customer service is terrible. Maybe because I am a minority, Dave decided to make a facetious racial joke that would of got his teeth knocked out in a street fight. He once raged because a friend of mine bought an XD9 for $320 online and Dave said why didn't you buy it here and said he didn't want to do the transfer, so the other guy did it. If you advertise free transfer don't bitch about it. The gentleman who did the transfer told Dave that he said free transfer so we can't complain. It's not like we don't buy other things. Dave seems like a punk and those who gets his attention are the ones that are part of his club, he treats others like he's the cool kid in HS, which I doubt he was ever. These guys are assholes. I've spent well over $1,500 here and I always was treated like dirt. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I was told they would accept my transfer of two guns from an online gun shop, then the day before the online shop asked me to verify with the owner of he'll accept it and he was extremely rude about it and told me no. Dishonest. Asked Dave to return ship a firearm I had transferred to him. I was quoted $50 for shipping and $20 for the transfer (that was expected but didn't happen). Gun was shipped back using the cheapest service possible (cost $22) and it was not even sent 'Signature Required' for a pretty expensive gun! The receiving FFL actually called me after getting the gun to complain - he'd never dealt with another dealer who shipped a gun like this. I don't mind paying a fair price for a fair service, I do mind being lied to. I've bought reloading components pretty regularly from this place but if I have a choice I don't plan to do business with them again. read more

I have been to their store 3 or 4 times to purchase a shotgun. At first they were not able to get the gun due to being of limited supply. They mentioned that if I could get this gun at another store, I could have it sent to them without any charge to myself. I know this process involves paperwork and their time. You should do your homework on a fire arm you are looking to purchase. Also be specific on the model and sku#. 95% of my fire arms have been purchased from Heritage. My first gun I had no idea what I wanted and was helped in making a decision. I even changed my mind and was able to cancel my order and re order a different fire arm over the phone. Dave and his staff are always willing to help with questions and finding you what you want. If they do not have what you need in stock, they will get it for you ASAP. I have always gotten very fair prices which is why I return time after time. I don't mind giving my business to someone who is willing to go the extra mile to get me exactly what I need. There are times when heritage is busy and it is crazy in there, which is why I say do your homework and make it easy on them to help you quickly. read more

I am so angry with the customer service at this place that I had to download yelp just to make a formal complaint. I have never written a review on the Internet in my life, but I've never been this disgusted in my life either. I called with a simple question to see if they had something in stock. The guy rudely says You have to COME DOWN. He told me that they don't need my business and not to get short with him. I was like r u kidding me??? I actually went in there today because its near my work and I'm desperate and have never been there before. I asked if the Sig was used or new, he said what does it say with this awful pissed off look on his face. I was stunned. Then I asked if it was the 5 in barrel and he said NO! You can't get 5 inch. I said what do u mean? YOU CANT GET IT. He treated me like I was the biggest piece of shi$t on the planet . I just turned my back and walked right out. Couldn't ask for a better neighborhood gun shop. The best prices and staff around. If you're into reloading this is the place you want to be. They don't have the largest selection on hand but can get you whatever you want within a good time range. I wanted to by a rifle from a friend of over 40 years. On the recommendation of a fellow member of my local gun club I went to Heritage to do the transfer. He told me their was no fee. So I called Heritage to inquire about the cost of a transfer. I was asked what kind of gun. I told him. He asked was it just the one gun? I said yes. He said, we're not going to charge you for that. I said okay. Thanks. On Saturday May 2nd I meet my friend there and told them why I was there. They gave me the paper work. As I was filling it out, with the help of the counter person, as I have never done this before, he said to me. We usually get $20. for a transfer. I said to him. I called and asked about it and was told there was no fee. He went over to his boss and told him what I said. The man who's name is Frank? who's voice I recognized from my earlier phone call. Came over to me as I was leaning over the counter filling out the paper work and got right in my face and said to me HEY! Do you work for nothing? I turned my head and looked at him and said no. Well do you expect me to! To which I said no. Then he went on a rant. You tell your friends at the gun club that I'm sick of being the CLUB WHORE! They're abusing it! I don't care about the $20. That's why I called to check first. But don't tell me on the phone no charge. Then tell me it's $20.00 when I show up. I had know idea what this guy was talking about. But I can connect the dots now. I have been in this store 2 or 3 times before. They are not very attentive. But that was okay. Because I never saw anything I was interested in. Until this trip. I saw what looked like a model 37 Ithaca shotgun. I've been looking for one for some time. Hard to find. To bad. I will NEVER set foot in this store again. I'll go to D&L and pay $25 If I was 6'-5" and 245 lbs or so. I would have reached over the counter and knocked this guy out. And gladly went to jail. It would have been worth it. I don't know what has become of this place or what has been going on there lately. But when you go in all you hear about is grumbling griping b******* in the customer service is p*** poor. Why anybody would want to be in business or work for Frank with his reputation is beyond me. You walk in there and it's like you're invisible some days nobody sees you or help you for 15 to 20 minutes and I am just turning around walking out. Also I have bought numerous guns then you go to have one gun transferred for " FREE" and I have to hear b******* about it. People wonder why I go to D&L guns in Warwick. They may be all business but when go in the I don't have to hear them talking s*** about the type of work I do and cutting up all the customers behind their backs. they can afford to be all business cause they probably sell 10 to 1 guns over heritage. On the plus side I don't have to deal with tweakers coming in selling their grandmothers stolen jewelry. Which I'm sure all that gets reported to the IRS too? Rhode Island is a small state and you can't keep burning bridges and s*** talking people for long before it will catch up to you. Called them today and asked if they had any 223 ammo as my friend recommended them. ( I had never heard of them and figured I would check them out). They said they did and I said I would be by to get purchase some. I show up and was ignored for a good 10 mins and there was only one other customer in the store..I browsed and saw a few boxes of 9mm and finally someone asked me if I needed help. I inquired about the 9mm on display and he laughs and says "Oh I cant sell any of that to you, I am saving it for people who have guns on layaway and people who have bought guns from us before..Have you bought a gun from us before?" I respond no, and then ask about the 223 I had called about. He says "I might have a box in the back somewhere (after I had just called and he said he had plenty) where have you bought your guns?" I said I had been going to D@L and I had just learned of them. He gets all cocky and smart with me making remarks to the others working there and just walks away laughing at me. These guys are a joke... really? I have cash to spend and it is my first time in the store and this is how you treat customers? I will be sticking with D@L from now on.
